    My marimo split a while back and to my surprise, there were actually a handful of very tiny marimo balls inside!! I'm raising them in a separate container

    • @daisyjeffries8442
      @daisyjeffries8442 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How many were there inside?

    • @archdukegordy2189
      @archdukegordy2189 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daisyjeffries8442 Maybe around 6 of them. My marimo continued splitting apart to the point where I had around 30 tiny marimos, and I got tired of having to manage so many so I threw them out. :(

    Oh I have been waiting for ages for a new Marimo clip!!!! I really got into these sweeties and have so many questions. For example some of mine are simply separating and the don't roll back anywhere near a ball shape. Others developed a bad smell and after trying to save them ( long story) they had to leave. I love your channel topics and its always a pleasure to watch!!

    Hi Wendi! I have a few questions since I just got a Marimo yesterday! If I take a tiny peice of my Marimo off will the tiny peice grow and get bigger?

    • @cindy-mai
      @cindy-mai 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes it will but it's going to take a while
      marimos are a very slow growing algae(like a good growth is 5mm a year) so it isn't recommend
      probably best to leave it alone unless the marimo ball is a hefty size and that isn't what you want in a tank

    Hi Wendi I just gotten myself a marimo(also my very first one!!! YAY!!!). It's the first day and I think didn't check it properly when buying it, there's a tiny brown spot on my marimo, I wonder is it normal???

    • @wendiland
      @wendiland  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JacFrost Hi! Brown is dead growth, or it's part that lacked light. Usually at a bigger shop, they lack care so something like that would occur. You can see my other Marimo videos where I talked about how to care for that. Lightly trimming over that area should help. Good luck!

  • @sajkdnsaklfhnj
    @sajkdnsaklfhnj 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What does the marimo ball need to grow?? It would be ok under sunlight?? Or do they need to be at shadow or mid sunlight?? And do they need some soil?? I guess only water would be not enough for they to get nutrient
    Great vid

    • @thekittenclaws877
      @thekittenclaws877 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The marimo needs almost no maintenence. They require indirect sunlight. They dont need soil and they could do just fine in a tank with some water in it! All you need to do is change the water every 2 weeks and gently squeeze and wash the marimo. To encourage a sphere shape, roll it gently in your hands, like a ball of clay. They grow 5mm a year, so try and be very careful with them! :D

    • @wendiland
      @wendiland  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Marimo is a type of algae that grows as a sphere. It would keep growing bigger or break apart. It doesn't fruit or flower if that's what you mean. Here's a video that talks more about it: th-cam.com/video/tk4KgGBzwlE/w-d-xo.html Thank you for watching! :D

    how do you keep the water cold enough? mine died because the water kept warming too much.

    • @wendiland
      @wendiland  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Water should remain cool. Luke warm water is too warm. Try keeping the tank further away from a window to prevent direct sunlight. Hope you have better luck next time. :)
