Watching this in the theater was the greatest cinematic experience of my life. I was blown away by the CGI, choreography, and the display of fighting skills of Ewan and Hayden. Everyone was on the edge of their seats waiting to find out how did Anakin become the masked Darth Vader. When Anakin’s legs got sliced off, the theater went dead quiet. We all had theories but no one saw that coming. And once Anakin burned, the crowd gasped in horror because it all came full-circle. Truly an experience of a lifetime and I’m truly grateful my Dad checked me out of school to take me there.
Lightsaber Fighting Styles- Form VII: Juyo/Vaapad Considered the most aggressive and unpredictable form and therefore the most controversial, it was a combat style with a history of the Jedi High Council forbidding it and later allowing only select users to practice the style. The Juyo variant focused on aggressive assault and a mindset that drew upon anger and negative emotions to fuel relentless assault. This mindset caused many users to fall to the dark side of the Force or close to it.
In a movie that admittedly has quite a bit of poorly-delivered dialogue, that “I hate you” is kinda jarring. This whole scene where Anakin is burning is. They dont feel like they’re just reading off a script here like they do in a lot of the movie. Theres an actual sense of anger and hatred in Anakin, and an actual sense of sadness and regret in Obi Wan. They feel like real people here.
Fun fact, dunno how many of you know but George Lucas planned to speed up the duel sequence but Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor practiced so much and so many times this duel that what you see is the actual speed no camera tricks no speed up in post prduction, it's incredible the best duel of all times

This one has a grander scale, but I enjoyed the Maul fight more as I felt the choreo was tighter. Just my two cents; both fights are among the best the series has to offer all the same.
As a kid I always thought the “It’s over Anakin, I have the high ground!” line was pretty goofy since they never really mentioned anything about trying your best to gain the “high ground” and that it was strange that Obi-Wan was so certain of his victory because he was a few feet higher than Anakin. But if you look at what Anakin tried to do, you realize that he was trying to do to Kenobi what Kenobi had did to Darth Maul, the flip over him and slashing from behind. Being Kenobi’s apprentice, Anakin would’ve been fully cognizant of that technique because Kenobi would have certainly either taught him, or at the very least told him about what he did to defeat Maul. It also explains why Obi wan says “don’t try it” before Anakin lunges at him. He knew Anakin would’ve taken his advice on how to beat the guy who has the high ground, so he knew exactly what Anakin was going to do, hence why Anakin got absolutely trashed for trying such an obvious move that would leave him wide open. Anakin was so full of hubris thinking he was the most powerful force user to ever live and was convinced that his victory was a forgone conclusion, that he failed to realize that he was trying to use Kenobi’s own signature move on the guy that invented and taught him it, and not only that, but make it obvious to him that he’s going to do it.
Its also cleverly written as it doesn't just mean he has the high ground but that he has the moral high ground. In a sense, saying wrong cannot beat right.
Well said. Not only that, but just previously, Anakin tried the same move on Kenobi when bridging the gap to join him on the moving platform. He jumped over him. Obi barely missed Anakin’s legs and Anakin successfully managed to get onto the platform behind him. This new gap was much wider to bridge, and had a terrain advantage of the high ground, which would make it harder for Anakin to clear Obi’s saber.
This is how you choreographed a fight. It has passion, symbolism, it’s fast paced and doesn’t just rely on the pure spectacle of it all to draw you in. There is raw emotion, and logic. Where did this kind of entertainment go?
Looking back on things, it's easy to understand how terrified of the dark side Obi-Wan must have been, not in a sense of weakness but in a purely mental way. He was the first to duel a dark side user in hundreds of years and saw his master slain by him, he saw a highly intelligent man like Count Dooku fall to the dark side, Sidious successfully taking down the Jedi order and republic, and the snapshot at 6:45 seeing his brother, the most gifted Jedi in history completely taking over by evil. Obi-Wan really went through it. Makes me remember his first line in Phantom Menace to Qui Gon " I have a bad feeling, its elsewhere, illusive". That was the force telling him to get ready buddy
Obi wan was the strongest Jedi of them all. Mentally he was nearly untouched, even breaking the law of attachment and STILL remaining like the Buddha himself. Obi wan is the role model we should all strive to be like
Exactly. The dark side took everything from him. Everything he cared about - the master he idolised, the brother he adored, the love he cherished, the Jedi Order his home and the Republic his values were destroyed or corrupted by the dark side. By all right, he should feel despair, sadness and loss and be overcome by those emotions - other men fell to the dark side for less. And yet he endured through it all, keeping his faith in his principles despite his world crashing down upon him. Without him holding onto his hope and looking after Luke, the Galaxy would've stayed enslaved to the darkness. He is truly one of the greatest Jedi, a living embodiment of what all Jedi should aspire to be.
@@lukecodzyou clearly don’t know much about the movie and you’re trying to fit in because if you actually watched it you would know that this is just vaders backstory and anakin did not die this is how he became the famous and evil darth vader
"This is the end for you my master" is just chilling. Hayden's chilling stare alone but think what it must be like for Obi-Wan to hear these words coming from Anakin. The boy he essentially raised and taught everything he knows. The young man he sees as a brother telling him in no uncertain terms "I am going to kill you" Heartbreaking
@@Lunafroyo I think this is the biggest part of the tragedy. These two brothers forced to fight until one is presumed dead. Until Obi-Wan learned about Vader, he probably thought Anakin was dead by his hand.
@@Lunafroyonever read the novel but did Obi Wan ever express feeling like a failure because of Anakin? Because as an older brother myself, that's the part that makes me cry.
Plus, since Obi Wan promised Qui Gon Jinn to look after Anakin after the latter's death, this makes this all the more heartbreaking as Obi Wan felt he failed Qui Gon.
1:31-1:35 is some of the coolest choreography from this fight. Nobody really talks about it, but seeing Obi-Wan spin a few times while blocking what looks like a Euro-step from Anakin just looks awesome. Man, we were fortunate to have Ewan and Hayden.
I really like that sequence also. It’s so impressive how fast they are moving and It looks like they’re running almost but they’re not and it isn’t sped up at all. These two have been absolutely wasted in the new shows, especially Hayden since from what I’ve seen in the BTS he was extremely dedicated and had a lot of cut fight scenes

@@martinmalicus3987 Not at all. Its just a metaphor which can be interpreted in 2 ways: A strategic highground in combat is simply a beneficial position. Often a literally elevated ground. But it can also be interpreted as a moral highground. Obviously it is unrealistic to assume Obiwans words are true in a real world. But its not a real world its George Lukas vision and therefor logically flawed. Anakin couldve literally just walk towards Obiwan and avoid the highground. But then again he had plenty of opportunity before to throw Obiwan into the Lava. Like when Obiwan swung around on that lava river. Anakin couldve just cut the rope and Obiwan would be toast :D We don't have to be ignorant to its flaws to appreciate what it does well.
@@martinmalicus3987Nope, obi wan said that for a reason, Being that what anakin tried on him is the same move obi wan used to defeat darth maul, seeing that obi wan was his master, he surely would have taught anakin this so when he says dont try it he already knew the outcome .
Seeing anakins' eyes change after he loses his legs is so spine chilling. Just seeing the dark takeover of him is crazy. So much hate in his heart, visualized through the change of his eyes
Very true. The sequels are nothing but an abomination and a deserve to the Original and Prequel trilogies. They truly ended after “Revenge of the Sith”.
i used to say Star Wars in general was the greatest story/piece of media of all time, but figured once my taste expanded my opinion would change. i am happy to report that i still believe that statement to be true. no other piece of fiction fills you with a fleury of emotions like Star Wars. especially ROTS. so you are correct.
Yeah that line is wierd but I agree the shot with him and the sun about to be covered by clouds is cool, it’s like there is a hint of light but the darkness is setting in
@@cosmictreason2242 The difference is that Obi-Wan is simply acknowledging that Anakin truly has become a Sith by saying you can either be on his side or die. In other words, dealing in absolutes is when you refuse to listen to reason, which is what Anakin was doing. All Obi-Wan did was make an observation. He wasn't dealing in absolutes.
This is still peak Star Wars in my opinion. I grew up with the original trilogy, but the sequel trilogy came around when I was another young teen. So many great memories going to those midnight premiers!
The moment Anakin & Obi-Wan collide with the music and lava eruption behind them is one of the best parts of Star Wars to me. Every time I watch it, the entire fate of the galaxy flashes before my eyes. This is where the galaxy is, everything has fallen and become corrupted, and at the same time the galaxy’s two best defenders left in Kenobi and Yoda are trying to prevent the greatest evil and the fall of the greatest Jedi who ever lived. This movie is so epic and grand and the absolute best. Perfect Star Wars in every way. No lightsaber fight comes close. Going to Disney next week and when making my lightsaber I will choose the blue Kyber crystal and then go make sure I get all the colors, especially red to honor Anakin. Hayden Christensen is one of the best things about Star Wars and you can see in his portrayal that he truly was in a galaxy far far away.
Believe me when I tell you that as a lifelong Star Wars fan there is no greater feeling than when you create you very own lightsaber. I did it last year shortly after turning 49 and there were grown men nearly reduced to tears in realization of what they’ve just experienced. It was wonderful.
Looking at this fight again, and watching how both of their styles impacted the battle, you can tell Obi-Wan was holding back because he still thought he can make Anakin sense into what he was doing, but when it became clear that Anakin wasn’t there anymore, he knew he had no choice, but to end it with him. Which led to be on chopping his legs and arm off. The sad thing is as Anakin was screaming Obi-Wan wanted to go help him, but he knew that there was no turning back at that point.
I don’t think obi wan was holding back they both were going all out and the whole time you see anakin leading the rythm of the duel obi wan was good but never as good as anakin cannon and Lucas has said
You could see a moment when Anakin catches on fire @ 8:30 he looks like his normal self, which makes Obiwan want to save him. But you can notice Obiwan quickly look away as if hes not trying to tie his feeling towards Anakin (now vader). And it cuts back to reality, Anakin is already charred and burned all of a sudden.
Obi wan wasn’t holding back at all, that’s just how form 3 works. defend until your opponent gives you the perfect opportunity to strike, not a moment before not a moment later. Vader was clearly much more powerful than obi wan at this point. holding back would’ve just got him killed…quickly lmfao. and ironically, anakin being so much stronger than obi wan was the entire reason for his demise. arrogance is the sith lord’s greatest weakness. if anyone was holding back in this duel, it was the very confused and conflicted young vader. He’s going against the man that practically raised him as his father figure. master Yoda already informed kenobi that the boy he trained was consumed by Darth Vader. no reason for him to hold back, he destroyed the jedi order and everything that his master stood for.
Obi-Wan only really going on the offensive when he figured Anakin would be caught off guard only to be proven wrong, like right after he jumps off the steam pipe
This is hands down, the best scene in the entire franchise. When darkness has all but consumed the entire galaxy, one of the last brave fighters is forced to go up against his protege, who’s managed to surpass him in skill. A fight to secure the fate of the entire galaxy. It’s the landmark point for the entire franchise.
At the end when they are on the last platform you can tell Anakin was about to kill obi wan by cutting off his legs if he didn't jump to the high ground. Crazy fight
Bruh, cuz lost. Again. What skill did Anakin surpass Obi Won in? 😂😂😂😂 Anakin is literally 4-1 and even then, OBI won let him win on the Death Star. So it’s really 5-0 or something like that…
A neat little bit in the start is when Obi-Wan sees Anakin pacing, he starts circling him so he can get Anakin to keep a distance, allowing him to go check on Padme.
The fact that there were people who hated this duel and duals like this because of how fast and unrealistic they were is crazy. The choreography is insane.
The best lightsaber duel of all time. Duel of Fates is close but to me Obi v Ani (Vader) has everything it has and then more! The awesome fight choreography, that final boss fight setting, godly music, and the most important of all: the emotion. The first time I watched this, my 8 year old self was begging for them to stop fighting no matter how cool it looked. Even now I rewatch this movie and this duel and I still have the same feelings as I did then, begging for these brothers to stop fighting. That's why RotS will always be my favorite
I actually like duel of the fates better. Simply because this fight is so choreographed that it honestly doesn’t look like they are trying to hit each other a lot of times
Anakin's story is a tragedy...every time I watch I don't believe he is going to turn. Then you watch the events unfold that lead to his turn to the dark side, and you feel the confusion and sadness in him...slowly watching him becoming the betrayer. The dialogue between Anakin and Obi Wan is iconic, one quote that sticks out to me is, "your anger and your lust for power have already done that". Anakin believes the only way to save his love is to gain power at any cost, which leads to his betrayal of the Jedi, all at the cost to save Padma, but for the cost of his new powers he loses his lover forever...a true tragedy.
Even more gutwrenching...he wanted the rank of master in the jedi order to get access to the restricted section...to learn how to save padme...but was denied. The tradgedy of Darth Vader is a timeless, cinema master piece.
@@capitanaless1o493 that's the thing: this is all predetermined if you understand the chronology of the series. This could have been a story of someone who goes to the brink, but is brought back by the power of friendship and love; but, we know the fates of these characters already. The only thing left at this point in the story is to see the tragedy for what it is as it unfolds.
I saw this with my sisters at the local drive-in its opening weekend in 2005. When Obi-Wan & Anakin had that little dialogue, I thought to myself, "Oh boy, it's coming" & when the lightsabers ignited, I was like "This is it!" This battle had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Incredible choreography & incredible intense music to boot.

There's a whole ocean of lava beneath the Earth's Crust....or acid lakes on other planets....
4:50 I love this part. The battle of the heroes theme has been developing throughout the entire fight until it reaches its final version with the choir and all the instruments. It is the moment where Anakin is truly lost. Obi Wan and Anakin are not just fighting each other at this point, they are fighting to survive the catastrophic failure of this facility. But Anakin doesn't care. He doesn't care that they might both die from the environment, he only cares about killing his former master. His rage clouds his mind completely. For anyone who thinks that this fight should have been shorter I will tell you the obvious. This fights tells a story which is just as important as showing the space battle at the end of a new hope.
To me the music always sounded like it was a lament, as if the loss of the Chosen One to the Dark Side was so powerful that the galaxy itself mourned, represented in song as he’s lost in real time.
Bro yes. When Obi is climbing the beam anakin is right on his ass swiping. When they take cover from the lava, Anakin has to try a couple more swipes before taking cover. You can feel his rage and that all he kills about is killing his older bro. I fucken love this movie and the themes
The galaxy started shedding tears at this point. A type of a realization feeling of "this is really what all of this bullshit has come down to now, huh?"
@@Sentinel07Such a compelling concurrence of the choir. The Galaxy truly wept at the loss of The Chosen One. Almost a begging, a truly mourn in what became the battle that turned the tides of the series.
"I HATE YOU" Anakin fully giving in to the heart of a Sith. Hate and rage "You were my brother Anakin. I loved You" Obi Wan breaking the Jedi rule. Don't form any attachments Anakins love filled him with fear and pain and hate. Obi Wans blinded him and led to regret and loss The fatal flaw of the Jedi was how they taught their own to deny their emotions and it led to their downfall
The Jedi are supposed to love unconditionally though. But the thing is, it's impossible for anyone, even the Jedi, to live without emotional attachments. If you are sentient, you will form attachments. Yoda had an attachment to the Jedi and the Republic, for example.
Actually Anakin's 'love' was just plain selfishness, because if you really truly loved someone, you wouldn't do all the horrible things he did. Palpatine of course manipulated him, but in the end Anakin made the decisions.
@@1rishpotat0 You have no idea what people are willing to do for love. A parent will even commit for a child's sake if it came down to it. My point is that Love is not necessarily some lofty, saintly sentiment above base realities that you seem to thing. It's as base as hatred and any other emotion.
The whole sequence from when Anakin screams "I hate you!!!" at Obi Wan and he says "You were my brother, Anakin... I loved you" and then Anakin catches fire....still makes me cry!
That and when Anakin punches Obi wan at 3:50. Obi wan looked so shocked and it was when he knew Anakin wasn’t trying to prove he’s better than him, he just wanted to kill him😢
“Only a Sith deals in absolutes” is such a chilling line. Such a perfect example of the Jedi code as an embodiment of Stoicism. Do not conclude rashly on any matter, but approach life with balance and equanimity.
@@KetsaKunta but by calling ‘stoic virtue’ thus, are you not also making it an absolute by your metric then? My friend, this is no simple matter what we are about to discuss, and I feel my comment hardly scraped the surface of what I really meant behind it. I understand very well that the point of the Jedi code (call it that, or Stoicism, or Daoism, or just ‘wisdom’ as I call it) is not to make an absolute, the stoic truths in fact reveal themselves to us whether we like them or not. Being in tune with them is not the same as dealing in absolutes. This seems a complex notion that is almost ineffable, as it appears paradoxical, but the crux is this: that which is true is not necessarily an absolute. If you meditate, write and focus attentively in your day-to-day, you’ll find that these truths can be revealed without words, but with focused, lived experience. Our language, in this case, forces us to express what appear as absolutes when what we are actually living is balance and equanimity. This is hard to achieve, of course, but that is why the Jedi way is the harder of the two. The whole point of the Sith code is that is brings quick rewards for little experience, while the fruits of the Jedi way are only revealed with enough time spent practicing and assimilating the way of Everything (the ‘Tao’) into one’s being. This is where the Jedi become remarkably similar to Daoists. Isn’t it beautiful?
@@KetsaKuntabut by referring to ‘Stoic virtue’ thusly, are you not then making an absolute of your own by your metric? My friend, this is a very, very deep discussion and I feel that my initial comment hardly scraped the surface of what I really meant behind it. Allow me to elaborate… The stoic truths reveal themselves whether we like it or not, and do so every day. Being in accordance with these truths is not the same as affirming an absolute, as many truths in and of themselves are paradoxical. Example: it is true that existence probes many paradoxes for us humans. This sentence may appear an absolute, but it only appears this way because of its linguistic limitations. The grammar forces a conclusion (‘it is true that’), when the sentence breathes equanimity, balance, Yin and Yang, etc. To go full-cycle, we have now just proven the sentence to be true by offering up one of existence’s paradoxes. In this way, language shows itself to be a limiting factor in the expression of truth, but the meaning between the lines has revealed the truth to us nonetheless. The key to it all is being at peace with paradox. This is the ‘harmony’ that the Jedi code advocates for. Harmony is not a one-sided word, it is neutral to its core. It is the word for ‘Everythingness’, our word for the ‘Tao’. That which is true is not necessarily always an absolute, for the Universe itself is non-absolute in many ways. We have encountered the limitation of language in the describing of truth, and it is clear to me that realisation of truth therefore must come from living with an attentive, firmly focused and patient mind, just as Lao Tzu, Epictetus, and many wise men to this day (most notably, Sadhguru in my opinion) advocate. It is not enough to want to seize truth verbally, in ‘thinking’, as this is always going to be futile. Instead, we must assimilate it into our ‘being’. This is actually the Jedi way, as it is the Stoic, Taoist, Yogic, and so on. I prefer to call it ‘wise’, as ‘isms’ are irksome and constrain our view.
“shows up with your wife” “calls you a evil” “says he’ll pick democracy over you any day ” “gets drop kicked” “has a fight with you so destructive everything around you is sinking in lava” “continues to fight with you despite all the lava” “says he has a high ground” “cuts you in half” “says you were the supposed chosen one but now you just suck” “says he loves you” “goes into hiding and stalks your son for the next like 20 years or something” ladies and gentlemen the one and only obi-wan kenobi! the biggest menace in the galaxy
And the fact that Yoda is having a legendary showdown with Palpatine simultaneously is even more epic. The ultimate battle of the light side vs the dark side was unfolding right here

He lived in both light and dark, and is now in full control of both guarding the world between worlds.
@@beddyutichatterjeee That's the ironic thing. By the Jedi's ideology, jedi are actually not against evil, they want evil and good to be in equal strength. So Anakin restoring the Sith before destroying both the Jedi and Sith is literally true to the Jedi prophecy.
You can really see Anakin’s recklessness increasing as the fight goes on and his confidence for having Obi-Wan in the defensive for most of the fight cause him to get too comfortable with his mistakes
What Anakin forgets is that Obi-Wan’s fighting style is strategic in nature, and requires building a near impenetrable defense, whereas Anakin’s style is more tactical and power-based. So Obi-Wan just had to hold out long enough for Anakin to start making mistakes, find a spot that gave him a strategic advantage, then make one calculated strike to defeat his opponent. Yes, both were very powerful, but Anakin lacked Obi-Wan’s patience and discipline, which cost him the victory.

It’s shown at 4:12 and also at 5:10 where he saw the waterfall of lava and knew Anakin would follow him swinging out there and be too late when he came back around. But his massive power in the force enabled him to make a jump that no Jedi could make except him.

At the start of the confrontation see how the sun shines on Obi Wans back with all the dark clouds around it showing how bleak it is but it shows a shred of hope to save Anakin that reflects in Obi Wans last attempts to reach his friend and his Padawan to bring him back, when the fight is done and Obi Wan can't reach Anakin and defeats him nothing but darkness is in the sky. The story is a mess. Some parts feel forced. The rhythm of ep 2 is all over the place. They're still entertaining. But definitely not as good as the originals
@@rjohn00 lol the political aspect is the most interesting in the prequels. The prequels tell a story how a democratic society turns intro a dictatorship. I always have and always will truly believe that if Anakin/Vader wasn’t such a hot head (no pun intended) he would have won that fight. If he had fought strategically like Kenobi tried to teach him Vader would have had the dub. Vader was on a darkside planet. However he was new to the dark side and was not trained. So he was not on either side of the force. So Obi Wan would've won anyways even if they fought in the plains.
I mean, thats the entire point of this fight. Its the entire point that all the prequels led to lol. That Anakin was a slave to his emotions til the very end and it fully pushed him from being Anakin to being Vader. The dark side energy within Mustafar amplified this and his rage, hate, and arrogance consumed him. He was failed by everyone but Obi-Wan and Padme. At 8:52 is the part where it always hits me, I see the kind little boy from Tatooine that just wanted to free his mother and the other slaves, now he’s clawing at his brother from hell, he was manipulated into becoming a monster.
The prequels had their issues, but i love that George Lucas had a very clear vision of the root cause for Anakin's downfall - fear of loss - which manifests in many forms throughout the events of the prequels. It's almost as if George Lucas decided, if you dont believe Yoda was right about how something as simple as "fear" could lead to the dark side (which on the surface looks like a side solely built on brute strength and ruthlessness), then let me SHOW you.
I come back to this every so often to remind myself what good chorography actually looks like... because lord knows we haven't had anything this good in live action since. Not in any movie or any TV show.

@@louthinator You literally said in a reply, one thing star wars has made in recent times. Not just live action. But sure, Ahsoka Vs Baykan Skol, Luke Skywalker Vs the Darktroopers, The Acolyte episode 5 all have good choreography.
If you could only play one thing from the prequels to somebody watching the Original Trilogy for the first time as context, that scene of Anakin being left to die by Obi-Wan is it. Just that scene alone.
I really loved this battle, their styles are completely different, anakin overwhelm his opponents with his aggressive stance while obi wan is on the defensive as he always has been, and normally he would in advantage, but anakin is just so much powerful that it doesn’t matter, and the only reason why anakin lost was because of his ego
Unfortunately a common theme across the prequels (and post-Marcia Lucas) is an actor stepping into the role not exactly nailing their first appearance. Natalie, Ewan, and even Ian in the prequels had this problem in addition to Hayden; George's dialogue and direction is just so flat and lifeless, it was almost a guarantee to end with a bad performance. Even Liam was terrible in TPM.
No one EVER talks about 1:00 how symbolic that shot is with Obi Wan standing before the last glimmer of what appears to be the sun as in the last glimmer of hope from the darkness. Such a jewel of an Easter egg in my opinion!!!
6:23 hurts more than Kenobi cutting Anakin in half. Kenobi realizes Anakin is gone, he isn’t fighting his old student any longer, he’s fighting a monster.
That line hits. You can see it in generals eyes. He realizes his failure has led to the collapse of not only his comrades, but also his whole way of life.

I love it when fight scenes go from using fancy weaponry and tactics to having to momentarily drop kick a fool before returning back to the fancy weaponry and tactics.
Lightsaber Fighting Styles-
Form VII: Juyo/Vaapad
Considered the most aggressive and unpredictable form and therefore the most controversial, it was a combat style with a history of the Jedi High Council forbidding it and later allowing only select users to practice the style.
The Juyo variant focused on aggressive assault and a mindset that drew upon anger and negative emotions to fuel relentless assault. This mindset caused many users to fall to the dark side of the Force or close to it.
Also how ironically how Darth Maul survived being cut in half - focusing on his hatred of obi wan
@YoungCub If I remember correctly, that's the same style that Mace Windu used as well.
In a movie that admittedly has quite a bit of poorly-delivered dialogue, that “I hate you” is kinda jarring. This whole scene where Anakin is burning is.
U just blew my childhood out the box
Its also cleverly written as it doesn't just mean he has the high ground but that he has the moral high ground. In a sense, saying wrong cannot beat right.
Well said. Not only that, but just previously, Anakin tried the same move on Kenobi when bridging the gap to join him on the moving platform. He jumped over him. Obi barely missed Anakin’s legs and Anakin successfully managed to get onto the platform behind him.
This new gap was much wider to bridge, and had a terrain advantage of the high ground, which would make it harder for Anakin to clear Obi’s saber.

"You were my brother Anakin" Everything about this statement, the betrayal, the grief, the anger. Its all so perfect and so heartbreaking
that was heart braking to see anakin turn and it may be the best fight i seen with a lightsaber its just pure gold

Anakin shouting I hate you just jabbed me right in the heart.
Good point.

“You will try”. Something dope about that delivery 😂
“Only a Sith deals in absolutes” is such a chilling line.
Such a perfect example of the Jedi code as an embodiment of Stoicism. Do not conclude rashly on any matter, but approach life with balance and equanimity.
It's also an absolute... lol!
The arrogant teachings of the Jedi defines this
That's literally an absolute. It's not a perfect example of stoicism, but hypocrisy. The antithesis of Stoic virtue.
Allow me to elaborate…
The stoic truths reveal themselves whether we like it or not, and do so every day.

I think what we saw of Anakin in the Ashoka series really empathises this. He lived in both light and dark, and is now in full control of both guarding the world between worlds.
He served his purpose by destroying both the jedi and sith at their zeniths
