This is probably the closest to flying you'll ever get.
Flo Orley takes us with him on board his specially tuned hang glider near Chamonix in the Alps, where we join him for high speed maneuvers, high above the ground. With the glider cutting through the air as fast as 150 km/h, man's dream of flying has never been so close.

Go for it! Takes time to train to become a pilot though, but it's not difficult and doesn't require extraordinary physique or anything. I myself paraglide. I wanted to hang glide, but the nearest hang gliding school was more than 150 km away from where I live, so I picked up paragliding instead. I'll get around to hang gliding eventually though ;-)
Been flying for 30 years. The coolest thing about the sport is you can dial it down to be about as mellow as a down hill cruise run on the ski slopes. Or you can wind up as tight as you adrenal glands can stand. Search the web for your closest school and give it a try. The community is very welcoming of new pilots.
The closest I've gotten to upside down is rolling to within about 20 degrees. I think I'm at least 1 season away from safely approaching a loop. I find nothing is scary if you intend to do it although it can give you a great rush and beautiful view of the planet. The loop is very straight forward so some would say easy to do but it's consequences can be really bad if you blow it. Enough people have blown it that I want to approach it with caution.

@@snakedikeUnless you have great skills like this bloke DON’T DO IT. I flew hang gliders for 23 years with 600 hours logged, I have known friends to die doing loops, just not worth it.
My husband is itching for us to give hand gliding a go! I admit though part of me is tempted as it must be amazing gliding over such stunning landscapes, the thought of being up so high terrifies me!

These are the original OG gliders when I was growing. There are already innovations on these exact gliders for propulsion...as I have said...ahhhhh...endless creative fun is available to anyone.

Wow, that was exciting!
The flight has been recorded in the Alps but nothing like in Chamonix but rather in the Bernese Region of the Jungfrau Region in Switzerland. He takes of the Birg station of the Schilthorn tele cabin. He subscequently flys down to Lauterbrunnen and then there is a second flight over Niederhorn where he flys over the lake of Thun.
Clearly one of the most beautiful spots in the Alps...
This guy is scary to watch! Very confident. Obviously skilled.
This is why I prefer hang gliding over paramotoring. Both sports are fun but there are things we can do on hang gliders that you can't do on a paramotor. Still both are fun and one day I hope to try out paramotoring as well.

You never see this anymore I think because parsailing is so much easier and less dangerous, but as you can see this is the closest you can come to being a bird (squirl suits do not allow you to maintain altitude let alone assend so you are not really flying). This looks like beyond fun!

@@ballwizz23 not necessarily. You can get good quality second hand hang gliders for only around 1500 to 2000 grand. So not exactly too much.

@@ballwizz23 I suppose. But you could always do a tandem if you want. And if you want to fly/fall in the sky there are looaaads of other things you can do. Remember, you won’t get younger. Make the most of your one shot in this inconceivably incredible world, cause your probably not gonna have another one.

It's not so expensive to do . I built my own back in 1980 because I wanted to fly. Then I went to a school got trained on a winch launch and bought a second hand airwave for £170 . Look up Suffolk coastal floaters . You will see the winch launch. I hope you fly

I need to learn as much as I can about Hang Gliding I've watched so many videos and training videos of hang gliding but idk where to find hang gliding lessons...I'm in Washington State never could find where though but would like to try this out it seems like a very cool sport I'm highly interested.
