2:50 - 3:10 while it might at first glance seem to be some fluff to the story, it is in fact the answer to your question: the "creators" are future humans that went back in time and influence every known habitable planet's prospective future in a stable time loop, and deliberately avoid Earth to not change their own history.

As soon as I would have encountered an Engineer I would have approached and attempted communication. Then I'd have attempted to scan when it went back to work on the panel. That's what scientists and engineer folks do. We are insanely curious and will be all up on the questioning and can very easily become intrusive due to our extreme need to learn about new shit. That character flaw in the exploratory team bothers me. Not enough questions.

Heh, let's keep it going: The revelation hung heavy in the air, a palpable weight pressing down on the stunned group of humans. Captain Isaac, his military training kicking in, was the first to recover.
"So, let me get this straight," he said, addressing the engineer. "You're saying that we - humans - are your creators? That we built this ship and all the other ruins scattered across the galaxy?"
The engineer's monotone voice replied, "Affirmative. Homo sapiens constructed Behemoth and its sister vessels. You seeded worlds, uplifted species, and shaped the galaxy."
Dr. Barnes, her scientific mind racing, interjected, "But that's impossible. We've only just achieved interstellar travel. How could we have done all this 300,000 years ago?"
The engineer tilted its head, an oddly human gesture. "Time is not linear for the Progenitors. You mastered temporal mechanics, bending causality to your will."
A hushed silence fell over the group as the implications sank in. Humanity hadn't just joined the galactic stage; they had set it millennia ago.
Vasquez, still reeling from his outburst, whispered, "Dios mío, we're the Ancient Aliens?"
Roger, the alien guide, had finally regained some composure. "This... this changes everything," he stammered. "The entire foundation of galactic society, our understanding of history... it's all wrong."
Captain Isaac, ever practical, focused on immediate concerns. "What about the 'unknown threat' you mentioned? The one that damaged this ship?"
The engineer's response was chilling. "Data corrupted. Threat classification: extinction-level. Last known status: imminent."
Dr. Barnes' eyes widened. "Are you saying that whatever destroyed this ship, whatever wiped out our... future selves, is still out there?"
"Probability high," the engineer confirmed. "Cyclical nature of time suggests threat may resurface."
The implications were staggering. Humanity hadn't just stumbled upon their legacy; they had uncovered a warning from their future selves.
"We need to report this," Captain Isaac declared. "The UFF needs to know. The entire galaxy needs to know."
Dr. Jacobson, one of the other scientists, spoke up. "But should we? Think about it. If we reveal this, it could destabilize the entire galactic political structure. We'd go from newcomers to... well, gods in the eyes of some species."
"Not to mention," Riaru added, "it might attract the attention of whatever this 'unknown threat' is."
Captain Isaac weighed their words carefully. "You're right, but we can't just sit on this information. There's a threat out there, one our future selves couldn't handle. We need to prepare."
Dr. Barnes nodded in agreement. "We'll need to study everything here. Every piece of technology, every scrap of data. It might be our only chance to prevent whatever catastrophe befell our future selves."
The engineer, silent until now, spoke again. "Protocols dictate full cooperation with Progenitor directives. How may we assist?"
Captain Isaac straightened, feeling the weight of responsibility settling on his shoulders. "First, we need to secure this area. No one else can know about this until we decide how to proceed. Then, we start learning. Everything you can tell us about our future selves, about this ship, about the threat - we need to know it all."
As the team began to organize, each member grappling with their new reality, Vasquez approached the engineer. "Hey, uh... sorry about earlier. The punching and all."
The engineer's reply was as impassive as ever. "No apology necessary. We exist to serve."
Vasquez winced. "Yeah, about that. Maybe we can work on the whole 'master' thing. Partners sounds better, don't you think?"
As the humans settled into their new roles as both explorers and rediscoverers of their own legacy, none of them could shake the feeling that they had stumbled upon something far greater - and far more dangerous - than they could have ever imagined. The echoes of their forgotten future resonated through time, carrying with them both the promise of unimaginable knowledge and the threat of annihilation.
In the depths of the ancient ship, surrounded by the ghosts of their own potential, the small group of humans stood at a crossroads of cosmic significance. The choices they would make in the coming days would not just shape their own future, but the future of the entire galaxy - past, present, and future.

It's mostly just Vasquez who's a bit of a hothead- he and the captain is the only one who really has more than 1 or 2 lines. Vasquez is inspired by a favorite character of mine from an old video game, and he was also had some anger issues. The demeanour of the entire squad, really, is loosely similar to that game (Clive Barker's Jericho). The captain is a hardass with a distinct dislike for what he perceives as an "escort" mission- he doesn't like having to be a babysitter for both his own men and a team of scientists on an alien world known for being a hive of scum and villainy where they could be attacked at any time and had been dreading/expecting something to go tits up despite the Dr. Barns' placations.
In any case, I'm glad you liked the story despite your misgivings! I'm always happy to hear criticism, as it can help me to improve my own writing. There's definitely a bit of pressure to try and speed up the pacing of these stories since there's no guarantee I'll get to write followups or part 2s (though I do write open-ended just in case, and partly to drive support for it because I greatly enjoy writing longer-form serializations as opposed to one-off short stories).

@@dicerson9976It was a little over the top, but it does serve to characterise them a bit more than having them be more the faceless professional, so I understand why you had it that way. Still, I do hope for a follow up to this story, as there is interesting foreshadowing, and the setting seems entertaining.
Although, I do prefer to read stories compared to listening to audio, so is there another place where you post your writings?

@@whitehawk4099 Currently there is not, every story is written as an original for the channel. I do not actually manage the channel myself, so ultimately it is not up to me to decide if text-versions of the stories are posted anywhere (or if a part 2 is in fact made! Currently the channel's manager is reluctant to begin making serialized stories since on youtube especially series tend not to perform well with al gore's rythmn. But I have been pushing for it!)

Very well narrated, but the writing leaves a bit to be desired. They take a shot at the stupid scientists in Prometheus early on with the not taking off their helmets and looking in unknown openings, but then the guy acts like a hormonal teenager throwing a tantrum

Good story narration, the story has potential. That being said, Vasquez needs to be offed asap. There is no way anyone of that low caliber and undisciplined would come close to be chosen for such a mission. He is so low-tier, it ruins the entire story.

So, a mere 0.0002% is the difference between an advanced civilization, and whatever we have now? I can suspend disbelief about everything else in the story, but *that?* The author must've gotten it the wrong way around. It should've been a 99.9998% _mismatch!_
Jokes aside, the major flaw in the story is Vasquez. As someone else points out, someone with his personality traits wouldn't be selected for a mission where calm is vital, or even for any type of military duty. This isn't merely a speculative premise, which is necessary for sci-fi, but something that breaks the logic, which is more important to avoid in sci-fi, where logic is the only firm reference from the real world. There are other flaws, as well, obviously, but I came here for light entertainment, not a masterpiece; they're mostly as expected and passable.
Now I'm done complaining about something I basically got for free, so it's time to say "thanks". Thanks!
