Basically a year later and I just added the 0566 to my collection. I have the 0350, 0220, and 0562, and the 0566 makes a nice mid size addition. The Hinderer design (on the 0562 & 0566) is just profoundly functional and, to my eyes, gorgeous. This review was what pushed me into pulling the trigger on the 0566, thank you for another excellent and thoughtful review.
@@radagastthebrown533 I have the Elmax one, in Black Wash finish.10/10 knife. Elmax is a bit tougher than S35VN but also a bit harder to sharpen. I love Elmax, but both are fantastic steels. The Elmax one might be discontinued, though, but you can't go wrong with any of the two!
I have this and besides the gimping under the flipper, I love it. And you're right about the assisted opening not being necessary. My 450 Sinkevich is just a manual flipper and it's buttery smooth. But I guess it's good that both don't have everything I like otherwise I'd only like one of them.
Very well done .. This is a model that just jumped out at me , everything about it seems just perfect .. I watched this clip three times now and i just ordered this model but with carbon fiber model scale.. I own frame lock and also two with liner lock .. No problems with any failure on either lock up.. I agree frame lock is stronger .. My oldest and favorite that just seems to go with me most often has frame lock and is now 18 years old , i love everything about the knife when i bought it and still feel the same way today..
was thinking of getting this knife but as a left hander, the g-10 will be against my pants rather than the metal. That tends to rip up your pants so that rules out the 0566 unfortunately.
I've had mine for many years, love it, only problem is I am a fidgety guy and flip my knife incessantly now the assist won't work, I may have worn out the spring. Not to worry though will send to Zero Tolerance for a new spring and back to my flipping!
I recently about 3 month ago hot this knife and I absolutely love it. Everything about from hoe the mechanical the lock looks to the function of the 2 tone black grip side and i like the speed of the flipper. My first knife was a Kershaw and I still love them for edc becuase they ate cheap. Before this my favorite was the Griptilian but has taken its place.
When the assist spring in one of my Kershaws snapped, I emailed them and basically just asked for a spring so I could fix it myself. About a week later I had a shiny new spring the mail, and about 15 minutes after that I had a fixed Cryo. I was really impressed that they were cool enough to let me do it myself and have since bought a lot of Kershaws and a ZT because of it.
ZT 0562 CF CPM 20cv ended the dominance of Spyderco knives in my carry rotation, it was my first ZT and can't come up with one bad thing to say about it.
Got a 0562Ti intending to use as my new EDC... Its a great knife and not that much larger/bigger compared to 0566... but somehow I still like mi 0566 better for EDC.
Great vid. Glad you like the knife. I carry the ZT 0566cf. By far my favorite folder, EDC knife. It fits my hand perfectly. I tend to carry a little heavier pocket knife. I also love the assist opening. After years of lifting weights, I have some serious arthritis in my thumbs. I got it at a good price with my Military Veteran discount.
This is one of my favorites! Same setup in the blackwash.....and one in the m390 Steel. I’ve removed the torsion bar and now it’s a sweet manual flipper.. assisted is a cool option I just prefer to control the blade deployment speed myself. Great vid bud! 👍
If you like this then you need to try the 0562cf or the regular 0562... Its got an even better pocket clip, and its on bearings. And better ergos, lighter weight. Just an overall amazing knife. The new 0393 is also pretty awesome but doesnt come with a deep carry clip.
Been carrying a cryo for 4 years and a blur the years before that. Just found one for 119. Excited to upgrade the blade steel on my edc and keep the similar format of the cryo. Good review man!
This is the perfect sized zt and the only one of their knives i carry. The only two complaints i have with the knife are that they could've adjusted the design to allow more meat of the lockbar to stick out so that its easier to disengage the blade and they could've made the screws that hold the body together a bit longer. Other than that it's the best practical edc zt manufactures.
In my opinion this knife is perfect (at least for me). I bought it sround june 2018 and its still going strong, i usw it so much that blade is diffrent because of constant sharpening and I can tell you, this knife is eternal. Just spring for opening broke once but ZT offers replacement parts for free
I love this knife. I’ve had the same one for years and it’s still going strong. I own many pocket knives and this is hands down the best knife I own. It’s in my pocket every day. Great video.
This directly competes with the we rectifier. Only difference is the not so deep carry pocket clip, ceramic ball bearing flipper, a 2.95" blade, and 2.5ish oz. I think I'm going to have to go with the we because I dont really want the assist but if the zt had a ball bearing version i would definetly go with the zt.
I bought a used ZT 0566BW Elmax on eBay for an awesome $108 dollars, perfect condition. I love this knife and wanted to keep it assisted but I see lots of guys were removing the torsion bar... one day for the heck of it I removed it just to see and it was great liked the manual flipper operation much better, much smother action. Just my two cents... regards.
I’ve had a 0566 for a few years and my only real complaint is the liner lock. Under harder EDC use the liner lock digs in deep and is almost impossible to disengage. I think it is causes by me gripping the knife really hard. Other locking mechanisms like the axis lock or compression locks have proved more reliable in these situations because they don’t dig in and stick.
Looks awesome and cuts great! I have a Zero Tolerance 350 Tiger Stripe, but it came so dull and I have trouble getting it sharp. Have you heard this being a problem?
those ZTs are what got me into the XM18s .. i LIKED the Hinderer designs so much that i just had to try a real Hinderer , and i fell in LOVE with them .. i currently own 2 XM18s (bowie and skinner ) and im seriously considering an XM24 skinny version 🤘🏼
You should check out hammock camping, dd hammocks and ticket to the moon are some quality brands that me and my dad use. (I own the dd hammocks frontline with the 3mx3m tarp)
I also love this knife but I did have a frame lock fail and after fail I lightly and I mean lightly spine wack it and it failed every time but other then that great knife
Love my ZT 0566 after getting replacement flipper tool Before that could not deploy without two bandages on finger and much much effort Now after replacing part and flipping several hundred times it is a GREAT knife But I love 0609 & 0450 better!!!
Very similar to my less expensive and heavier, Kershaw Cryo 2. I'm sure it's much better quality, but is it really worth $100+ more? The correct answer is, not to me!
I agree that Hinderer has some of the best designs.. I'm not a big ZT fan either but I think their quality is above Spyderco and BM..I had a 0562 and that knife was close to perfect.. Overbuilt and thick blade stock but really nice..My dislike of flippers made me sell it (stupid move)..I did buy the 0393 on a whim.. That knife is excellent.. Thick blade stock but that's kind of ZT's thing..The 0560 is one of their better deals but I don't buy assisted knives..
I like the comparison with other knives. BUT the ZT is the only one with tip down clip. For guys like me that is important so there is just the zt left!
I’m not a fan of really any ZT’s. The ones I do like are all discontinued models. I own th zt0095bw and CAN’T keep my grubby fingers off of it. I also like the 0900 discontinued I like the 0770 in black aluminum that was a sprint run. Only model they carry now a days Im interested in is a hinderer model with the slicer blade
Awesome review, thank you! 😊 perfect timing on this. My cf version is coming in a couple days and I'm so excited to feel it in hand. Glad you're loving this package as well 👍
It reminds me too much of the Kryo which is also a brick, but not in a good way haha. I would love to get a ZT in my collection but most just don't connect with me. I am way more attracted to ZT collabs with Sinkevich. Still a great review Aaron!
I’ll never understand why they put speed assist on ZT’s. Or on any knife for that matter. Just stop... please. That being said. I’m with you on ZT. They just don’t do it for me and there’s so many options out there for the same price that are way better imo. Spyderco, benchmade, ect. But I’ve also been looking at this one for a while. Thanks for another good review.
Ball bearings get dirtier easier in my experience owning a 0566(bronze washers) and an 0909(kvt bearings)making washers less likely to get clogged with pocket lent. When I edcd the 0909, after a few days, I could hear grittiness in the bearings when I opened and closed it. The washers lasted closer to a couple weeks before that would happen. Washers also make more surface contact=less blade play
Benchmade will send u there deep carry clips for free I hate the split arrow clips as well and asked them for like 8 of them so I can replace all my knives with them. CONTACT THEM IT'S FREE LOL
ZT does the exact same thing as Benchmade, honestly ZTs warranty is WAY better than Benchmade... Although benchmades is pretty good. ZTs warranty covers so much more than Benchmade, they allow disassembly, and they don't void your warranty even if you have custom anodizing done! They will send you any parts you need to work on your knife yourself if you don't want to send it in. Incredible warranty and service. Although I did send them my discontinued 0630 and they sent it back with the same issues it had when I sent it, probably because it is discontinued and they may not have had the replacement parts any more.
Austin Freeman yeah it’s a great service from Benchmade, I can’t understand why they don’t sell the knife with the deep carry clip. I doubt they’ll have too many requests for the standard split cock-shaped clip.
Not the perfect pocket clip. The screws heads should be flat not rounded. These rounded screw heads make it harder to fully seat the knife entirely. If fully seated they make it harder to withdraw. I like the 566 but the pocket clip is not perfect.
Strongest lock up known man? Nope, that honor at this point in time goes to anything with Mr. Demko's triad lock, especially cold steel's bigger folders that are triad equipped!!! Other than that crkt claims their Deadbolt is stronger and we'll see over time, the design is certainly interesting.
heebs72gb Thats because it basically is. Rick Hinderer's designs are very similar. Kershw and ZT are sister companies also so it makes sense they would share designs.
I just don't understand how companies still produce bad clips. They are dead simple and its pretty much common knowledge which designs are liked and disliked.
I don’t know why Benchmade keeps putting that crappy pocket clip on their knives. Yes, you can call and request a deep carry clip for free from Benchmade. But.....why not just put it on all your new knives....folks are requesting it with every purchase of a new Benchmade knife. Come on Benchmade save your self some money and just put the deep carry clip on from the factory.
2 minutes into a review of a Zero Tolerance knife and you’re talking about 4 other manufacturers’ knives. Trucks? Then there’s 2 commercials interrupting. You’re all over the place; stay on point, man. That’s why I don’t watch your knife review videos anymore.
I am not sure what you mean by the interruptions. I would encourage you to checkout some of my new knife reviews. I have really tried to stay on point for these a few years back. Always growing and learning. Thank u for the feed back.
Ed Cady where did you get this info from? Is this like the "Elmax fail" where some douchebag TH-camr tried to baton through laminate flooring with an 801 and created a false shit storm on the internet? Sounds made up to me.
I haven’t seen a ZT I don’t like guess we have different taste.I don’t like assisted knives ball bearing work just as good and there legal in more areas anything assisted in Massachusetts and the cops can ruin your day I won’t buy a framelock that doesn’t have a stainless steel lock bar.
Basically a year later and I just added the 0566 to my collection. I have the 0350, 0220, and 0562, and the 0566 makes a nice mid size addition. One of my favorite production knives. I own the 0566 in elmax, s35vn, m390 an g10 an carbon fiber scales. Glad you really enjoy it to.
What steel better in 0566 elmax or s35vn? Thanks
@@radagastthebrown533 I have the Elmax one, in Black Wash finish.10/10 knife.

was thinking of getting this knife but as a left hander, the g-10 will be against my pants rather than the metal. That tends to rip up your pants so that rules out the 0566 unfortunately.
Just bought the Cryo 2 but still want to buy this ZT knife. Absolutely love the design and the quality of the steel.

Fantastic knife!
I own th ZT0566BW in Elmax, it's my favorite folding knife!
reason alot of people including myself hate deep carry pocket clips is because its so to deploy, griptilian 551 is my favorite edc folder
When the assist spring in one of my Kershaws snapped, I emailed them and basically just asked for a spring so I could fix it myself. 0566, 0562cf, 0308 are my favorite ZT's ever made.
I have an older 0566 with an Elmax blade. The 0566 is easily de-assisted by removing the torsion bar. Mine opens nicely with the thumb studs.
I now only have one ZT. The 0561, pretty similar to this. Love it and it made me consider other ZTs but I do not find any other as good as it
ZT 0562 CF CPM 20cv ended the dominance of Spyderco knives in my carry rotation, it was my first ZT and can't come up with one bad thing to say about it.
Oozy9Millimeetah I love it too but sometimes it’s too bulky too carry. Takes a lot of real estate. Otherwise it’s my favorite knife by a margin.
I got my 0562CF just over a month ago and I love it as my EDC knife, although, where I live that has to be hush hush as I'm not in the States.
Got a 0562Ti intending to use as my new EDC... Its a great knife and not that much larger/bigger compared to 0566... but somehow I still like mi 0566 better for EDC.

EDC with Aaron I have both. The 0566bw is my work knife and my 0562cf is my edc

I have found the ZT knife for my father’s Day gift. Love assisted devices. Great review. Gracias
Most of their designs don't connect with me either. I'm sure they are fantastic knives though. Great review!
Ever thought about checking out the Kizer Cutlery Megatherium??
I'm with you on weirdly leaning gradually towards non-assists.
I had a 0566 in elmax. Decent knife, but I sold it - mostly because I just didn't use it.
Another cool review. It'd be interesting to see you review more ZT knives, particularly with CPM 20CV blades, such as 0393, 0609, and 0562CF.
I also love this knife but I did have a frame lock fail and after fail I lightly and I mean lightly spine wack it and it failed every time but other then that great knife

Does the 0357 fit between the hinderer and length has far as handle height ? Thanks

I'll never buy a decent knife on Amazon again. Too many fakes. Been burnt twice with spyderco's.
Check the sources before buying.
great video just the weight is around 5.3 oz that pretty heavy. That one of the main reasons its so inexpensive I believe
I like the comparison with other knives. BUT the ZT is the only one with tip down clip. For guys like me that is important so there is just the zt left!

I like the aero clip personally but idk. Zero tolerance probably never really will do it for me, but this knife is getting close so who knows
Awesome review, thank you! 😊 perfect timing on this. My cf version is coming in a couple days and I'm so excited to feel it in hand. Glad you're loving this package as well 👍
The old Blur opened up like a saloon door! Good lookin knife.
A souped-up Cryo?
Carbon fiber handle has Elmax steel I believe.
I've been carrying this knife for a couple years. What took you so long to "discover" it?
I've said since day 1.....it's EDC perfection.
Style...? The “PRAETORIAN TI” is my first choice 😎
Like Your reviews helped a lot on backpacking issues thank You from Germany 😃
Humbly, recommend TOPS Mil spi. ..thanks for your insight .
Why not just get in touch with Benchmade and have them send you different clips?
It reminds me too much of the Kryo which is also a brick, but not in a good way haha. I would love to get a ZT in my collection but most just don't connect with me. I am way more attracted to ZT collabs with Sinkevich. Still a great review Aaron!
this or the manix 2?
i love this knife,i have four,bw elmax, satin,if zt made this knife in tiger stripe i would buy it
I’ll never understand why they put speed assist on ZT’s.
It’s a looker all right. To bad it would be so expensive for me to get it. Taxes and what not. Love the work.
What is a ball point hammer?
kevin peterson He meant ball peen. Used for peening rivets and other precision metal forming work.
I wish I would have been paying attention when this was out: I would have purchased two of them.
How can you not like them? There awesome looking knifes there are expensive but there cool!
Would be the perfect EDC if it had titanium and ball bearings. Make it happen ZT!
Definitely not one I'd pick, especially with the speedsafe... Ew. Although I have tried one but immediately removed the speedsafe
Lol this in the one ZT I have. Got it 2 years ago. It was an impulse buy.. for obvious reasons.😵
My favorite edc great review
just picked up one thanks for the info
Nice looking and surely functional, but I cant get over the fact the Hinderer allowed that stupid speedsafe assist on one of his designs.
I love the new analogies you use. New bat in little league lol.
Benchmade will send u there deep carry clips for free I hate the split arrow clips as well and asked them for like 8 of them so I can replace all my knives with them. CONTACT THEM IT'S FREE LOL
Austin Freeman I emailed to get a deep for my 940 and they sent me a spare clip and a deep carry polished in a few weeks.
I hope Aaron sees this. Best thing about Benchmade. Free deep carry pocket clips for life!
Benchmade and KAI (ZT, Kershaw) are very helpful in this area. This morning, I just got some more in from Benchmade.
Just ordered 1 today
Not the perfect pocket clip. The screws heads should be flat not rounded. These rounded screw heads make it harder to fully seat the knife entirely. If fully seated they make it harder to withdraw. I
like the 566 but the pocket clip is not perfect.
Just ordered
If knife companies revamped old clips with bent over deep ride carry clips they would fuck over all custom makers on etsy lol
to expensive for a non ti zt otherwise its acceptable in m390 or elmax
Strongest lock up known man? Nope, that honor at this point in time goes to anything with Mr. Demko's triad lock, especially cold steel's bigger folders that are triad equipped!!! Other than that crkt claims their Deadbolt is stronger and we'll see over time, the design is certainly interesting.
Kinda small for full size hands
You can totally deassist the 0566
So it's a expensive cryo
Much higher quality
Exactly what I thought.
Corpse Grinder well yeah I get that . But it looks Alot like a cryo!
heebs72gb Thats because it basically is. Rick Hinderer's designs are very similar. Kershw and ZT are sister companies also so it makes sense they would share designs.

"This is a dumpster fire" :) LMFAO
Zach Sankiewicz as a garbage man with dumpster fire experience, I agree. Those clips are on the same level.
Deep carry clips are your preference, I like a little bit of knife sticking out makes it easier to grab. Also why is that clip ever near your eye, jk

OK, I’m sold!
Diggin those GI Joe sunglasses!!!!!
My favorite knife. Received mine a few days ago from Blade HQ.... don't chance getting a fake from Amazon.
Но даже не зная языка, все понятно! Нож офигенный!

lots of fails with zt s35 vn. hope it is a good batch
I paid $144.00 a couple of years ago but it came with ELMAX steal
