THANK YOU!! You're the FIRST knife reviewer that has given a valid reason for de-assisting a spring assisted knife... without bashing the spring assist idea, no less! I'm a big fan of spring assist, just because it deploys the blade rapidly with little to no effort. I don't have the same issue of returning the blade to close, so it's a non-issue for me, but I get that some might have it. Mine is now on it's way.. thanks for the positive review!
Thanks. I should be back in the swing of things again. I got busy with work for a little while, but am going to try and crank out a bunch of reviews now.
Thanks. I got a little tied up with work stuff for awhile, but I should be back now. I have a bunch of stuff here that I need to review. Plan/Hoping to post one a week. Going to SHOT next month and can't wait! Hope to get some vids from there as well.
Having just ordered CT 566BW from the United States. Will be interesting to see if it lives up to expectations. Hope and believe it does. Very good video !!
Nice review. Most people love Elmax, the only problem is that ZT F'd up their Elmax on the 0560 and 0561, completely burned the edges and so on. I hope they fixed that now. Kind regards from Amsterdam
Seems you have a preference for the straight blade. If I remember correct, in another video you said you worked in the ER. Do you find the straight blade better than a serrated?
The weight diference between the 0566 and the Para 2 is noticeable.5.3 ounces for the 0566 and only 3.8 for the Para 2 with a longer blade and a superior lock.
Actually the para 2 has less usable cutting edge. The choil doesnt count. So what you are getting with the para 2 is a much less compact knife than the 0566. But yes the weight dif is noticable
Great review! Honeymoon or not the 0566 is a great knife! :) I de-assisted mine and it flips great and is uber-smooth. I love mine... that said, I love my XM-18s more! :)
I noticed that your pocket clip is already showing wear, the clip on my 0566 lost its finish literally on the first day of use as I was breaking it in. Nice knife, love it, but come on ZT!!!, for this kind of $$ give me a clip that doesn't lose its finish so quickly!
how would you compare this to the xm18? Do you think the xm18 hand scales would fit on the 566, I love the look of the xm18 but I cannot justify the price
I'd say it's probably every bit as good of a knife and has a better flipper mechanism for a fraction of the price. The problem of deciding is more of a mental one - that being if you have your mind set on a real Hinderer. In the end, for that reason, I sold this and kept my XM. The scales are not interchangeable though.
Some people don't like assisted knives. I'm annoyed by the torsion bar when I close it. I've taken the bar out twice now. I'll probably put it back in.
For now, yes. :-) This knife 'feels' tougher although I'm not likely to push either anywhere in the vicinity of their breaking point. The PM2 is lighter though so that's a plus for it. It opens plenty fast with the thumb hole, but this one is fast with the flipper. Both great knives. After the honeymoon is over maybe I'll go back into a 'what knife do I feel like today' type rotation. :-)
SnareMan I had a PM2 but ended up selling it because i ended up breaking off the tip and had to wait 5 weeks for Spyderco to resharpen it. I didnt wanna take that chance so I sold it.
Thanks! I actually am carrying it at work. Instead of a rescue knife I'm now carrying a Leatherman Raptor (should have a review up on it next week) and since that sort of replaces the rescue knife I thought I'd throw this one in the pocket since I otherwise wouldn't have a knife on me other than my Leatherman Squirt.
At 7:15 you say the lock bar is "fairly" stiff. C'mon. If this isn't a very stiff lock bar then I don't know what is. Plus it's hard to grip with thumb.
They are both great, although I find myself carrying the PM2 much more than this one, I think because it seems a little lighter, thinner and sits a little higher in the pocket. This knife definitely feels more stout/sturdy
SnareMan I got my 0566 today and i must say it is wicked sharp! it fits my hand perfect and I think this will def become my new EDC that will go into my rotation.
Please post more often! Your videos are the clearest and most concise on TH-cam!
I appreciate the kind words. Thanks! :-) I'm hoping to to get one up a week. I have a bunch of stuff here to review.

You're welcome! Thanks for watching and enjoy the knife! :-)
Hey snare hope your holiday was great. It's nice to see you post again.
Thanks. I should be back in the swing of things again. I got busy with work for a little while, but am going to try and crank out a bunch of reviews now.
I’m planning to get this knife for my first zt as well

nice knife, and good price point... but hoping for a black coated blade version on this....
Having just ordered CT 566BW from the United States. Will be interesting to see if it lives up to expectations. Hope and believe it does. Very good video !!
Thanks Lars!
Thanks to you Snareman , your review was really helpful. Thumbs up !
I appreciate it. Glad you found it useful!

Kind regards from Amsterdam
Thanks. I was just in Amsterdam about 6 weeks ago! Great city!!
I like the finish side b/c you can get it engraved.
Thanks for the great review.
I am sold!
That's a great idea!
Seems you have a preference for the straight blade. If I remember correct, in another video you said you worked in the ER. Do you find the straight blade better than a serrated?
ITs a hardcore well built little folder. I got one after watching this video a while back. good review video :)
Thanks!
Oh. My. Gosh! What video camera are you using? The quality I A!AZING!!!!
Its the camera on my LG blender.
The weight diference between the 0566 and the Para 2 is noticeable.5.3 ounces for the 0566 and only 3.8 for the Para 2 with a longer blade and a superior lock.
I agree. The Para2 does feel noticeably lighter
Actually the para 2 has less usable cutting edge. The choil doesnt count. So what you are getting with the para 2 is a much less compact knife than the 0566. But yes the weight dif is noticable
PK withBlades Good point

Thanks! I agree on the greatness of the knife! I keep trying to hit up Rick for an XM-18, but no such luck so far.
Was trying to decide between this and the emerson mini commander for a new edc blade. What do you think?
I noticed that your pocket clip is already showing wear, the clip on my 0566 lost its finish literally on the first day of use as I was breaking it in. Nice knife, love it, but come on ZT!!!, for this kind of $$ give me a clip that doesn't lose its finish so quickly!
Yea, I agree. They should have included a blued clip. I can understand it on my $29 Cryo, but not on this one.
Nice blade!
Thanks!

Why would you take the assist out?
Some people don't like assisted knives. I'm annoyed by the torsion bar when I close it. I've taken the bar out twice now. I'll probably put it back in.
SnareMan
I just got mine and now I know what you mean.
Mega jumbo Yea, sometimes experiencing it first hand helps. :-)
That over the paramilitary 2, impressive!
For now, yes. :-) This knife 'feels' tougher although I'm not likely to push either anywhere in the vicinity of their breaking point. The PM2 is lighter though so that's a plus for it. ***** That's a long time!
Great review! I'm curious, are you carrying this at work too or are you sticking with one of your rescue knives for work?
Great review-thanks for sharing
You're welcome. Thanks!
Nice Knife!! Reminds me of a bigger better version of the Kershaw Cryo.
Indeed. I agree. Check out my Cryo review. I think I compare them a bit in it.
At 7:15 you say the lock bar is "fairly" stiff. C'mon. If this isn't a very stiff lock bar then I don't know what is. Plus it's hard to grip with thumb.
Captain Sunday OK, its quite stiff and a little thin and difficult to move with your thumb.
Take the 0562 pivet and blade and combine with rest of 0560 and shamford the edges Boom! Perfect knife
Sounds like a great combo!
Nice review, great video quality!
Thanks!
Great review. Just ordered mine.
Greg Smith won't regret it
would you recommend this over the pm2
They are both great, although I find myself carrying the PM2 much more than this one, I think because it seems a little lighter, thinner and sits a little higher in the pocket. This knife definitely feels more stout/sturdy
Oh, I was actually talking about the 562 there. I sold this knife because I didn't like the assisted opening.
I just placed my order on a camo with black blade pm2. Thank you.
Hunter Weeks different style over PM2. I love spyder co. I believe the pm2 is nicer. Just my opinion.
Hunter Weeks one thing the zt has over spyder co is the clip . I have a ton of knives and love this clip
i may have to get one...ive been an emerson kick as of late, but we shall see...:-D
Its a great knife compared to the Emersons
SnareMan I got my 0566 today and i must say it is wicked sharp! it fits my hand perfect and I think this will def become my new EDC that will go into my rotation.
nice review thanks
you're welcome. :-)
the ZT is a much better knife for hard use compared to the PM2. Nice review.
Thanks. I agree. The ZT is a more hard use knife.
Nice !!
Thanks Jorgen!
Awesome!
Thanks!
i just bought this knife as an impulse shop lol :D :S , i bought it from bladehq. it cost me 125.
Enjoy it!
Great blade for me. Got it for 100 bucks with pure blade points!
