    Watched the review and heard the comments but when I tried the 450 in the store a lot of his issues were non issues for me, that pinky leave it off for the end of the knife, first three fingers on the contours, it actually feels kind of weird to try and fit all four fingers. Ended up buying it and could not be happier, it's a great knife

    Wow, nitpicking! This knife is a minimum 8/10 in my books and even compares to my small Sebenza, actually outdoing it with its action! Given that it is a small EDC knife, you could just move your pinky backward by a small margin - mine sits on the ramp. Not sized for tactical or heavy use, but still exceptional! Thanks your thorough reviews, love them, but I disagree with your sentiment in this case. I own the 0452 and 0562CF, and think that they would be better suited for your unique requirements. I carried mine today to the office, perfect!

    one of the first times I don't agree with you. I love the 0450 so much I have 3 different runs of it. Fits in my hand great and I'm 6'11" Probably the best flipping action of any ZTs I own. And damn its a looker. But to each his own I guess. Love your channel BTW.

    There is nothing wrong with the 0450. It just does not fit the reviewer. He needs a knife with a larger handle like Spyderco Manix lightweight or a Paramilitary. My hands are about his size, but 3 1/2 finger grips on smaller knives are something I am used to. My 0450 has had no issues at all.

    Thanks for your honest review. I recently bought an 0450 and love it. The action is phenomenal. I agree with your comments on the back of the handle, but it doesn't bother me that much. The high ride pocket clip is my only complaint. I would not hesitate to take this knife into the backcountry. It's sturdy and would do wonders at gutting trout, cutting cord, etc. I tend to shy away from fighting grizzlies and falling trees while backpacking. ;-). So far my blade is staying centered.

    Just bought this knife. I can't even tell you how smooth this thing is, so much so it almost feels the glide makes it feel almost delicate or light.
    Fits my hands great but im 5'7 and have probably small-medium sized hands but ive always felt its more about finger thickness than hand size.
    Knife is great only complaint is the jimping on the blade isn't special, wish it were a little more aggresive. Otherwise its exactly as you'd imagine.

    Thanks for the review, I was just up in Door County, Wisconsin this past weekend and found a great knife display at one of the shops (Hide Side Corner Store, Fish Creek, WI) while my wife was shopping. I tried many a blade from many manufacturers and found this one ( ZT 0450) the best fit for me the instant I gripped and flipped it open. The nib fits right between my last two fingers, has a great feel. Got it for a little over the price you stated. I enjoy your reviews, they are very thorough. I do recommend to try before you buy, it worked for me. This is not my first flipper, but it is my best EDC flipper.

    It's a small knife but if that's all you had I'm sure it'll do the job for self defense... especially with that SHARP blade!!!! Think about this before you disagree, inn a prison somewhere out there somebody lost there life to a sharpened toothbrush lol so can't tell me this knife can't be used for defense... just my opinion I'm far from Rambro.. lol

  • @cavtj1

    I own that knife too! My finger also lands on that last hump! But if you like the look of the 0450, have you considered the 0452? It's another Dmitry Sinkevich collaboration. The 0452 is longer and more pricey but even more appealing (IMO) as the 0450! Never experienced centering issues with either. Good, honest review!

  • @mccrimmon574ify

    had mine since it came out my favorite edc used a couple of years now great knife and yes loctite fixes the centering as there free spinning pivots and yes there right in the comments just move your hand back a bit your initialed to your opinion but I think you should revisit this knife

  • @nicholas2137
    @nicholas2137 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I had the same centering issue at first, you have to use a copious amount of blue locktite in the pivot due to the fact that it has a free spinning pivot. If the pivot had a D-shape on one side then this issue would be alleviated, but until then, blue locktite has kept my blade centered permanently.

  • @jens-erik2555
    @jens-erik2555 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    The blade centering issue is caused by you changing the pocket clip. my dad had the same problem after swapping out the pocket clip, change it back to the original one and now the blade is centered again.

    Bought this knife yesterday, best knife I have owned so far and I have owned quite a few. I’d go as far to say that it reminds me sort of a Small Sebenza (if sebenza was a flipper )at less than half the price. Love all about it but the clip. Ordered a deep carry clip from ZT, thank you for your suggestion on 0561

  • @ViaJames
    @ViaJames 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have the 0450CF, and I have to agree fantastic EDC, but that's where it ends, it will suprise you with how stout it is and how strong the lockup is, the ergonomics are perfect for my medium sized hands. A lot of folders like Paramilitary 2 by Spyderco are too large, it's actually nice ZT built a knife with egos for us under 6' crowd

  • @txduck
    @txduck 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is your blade centering issue due to the pivot loosening up? I know that pivot is known to have that issue ans requires a small bit of blue locktite applied with proper time allowed for it to set up before use

  • @warreningreborn6517
    @warreningreborn6517 8 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Completely disagree. First off, on the ergonomics, move ur pinky back on to the downward ramp. Done! Second, loctite ur pivot man. come on. 80% of production knives out there require loctite and this is certainly one of them. Yes it is kind of a annoying but it is easily remedied. The problem arises because they do not have a D shaped pivot and thus it is allowed to spin and loosen. Again, it is easily fixed with loctite.

    • @bigchunk1
      @bigchunk1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeremy Whitney It's been one heck of a knife for me. My only complaints are deployment is not 100% unless you get the right angle on the flipper. With practice it is not an issue though. Also the clip is not deep carry so for someone in the city like me that's a concern. Nothing else is an issue. The knife is hair-shaving sharp on a weather resistant blade steel. The frame is balanced and the grip is nice. The size is perfect. The construction is amazing.

    Awsome, digging the pocket clip (deeeep carry) . I think it could be used for tactical because the thinness of the blade and the deep finger choile makes it good for stabbing

  • @jacobmills7824
    @jacobmills7824 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had problems opening mine because the pocket clip wiggled its way onto the lock bar and was adding tension.

  • @Wood_Slice
    @Wood_Slice 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The blade is not centered because the pivot screw is not LOCTITED and no matter what folder u have over time the mere force of flipping it causes some micro vibrations that cause the pivot screw to loosen due to the lockbar pressure.

  • @zraper
    @zraper 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    One hot mess? A little harsh don't you think?! I think you're wrong about the ergos. Or, more accurately, the ergos are just bad for you. I have bigger hands than you, size XL gloves, so the 0450 is almost a 3 finger knife for me. That "cutout" towards the back actually falls in between my ring and little fingers. It's perfect for me. It would be interesting to see what others with smaller sized hands say. This ZT and my 3" XM are as small as it goes for me. Factor in the weight of the ZT and the extra blade length... It's in my pocket more than the XM.
    As far as F&F go, blade centering is perfect on my all Ti version and CF one. My 940-1, which is really one of the few knives that competes with the 0450, had pretty crummy centering.

  • @superfly2201
    @superfly2201 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have a 450cf and I love it. It weighs in at 2.1 oz and with a 3.25 inch blade , it's tough to beat. I've owned it for about a month now and haven't noticed the blade shifting from center at all. I understand how you might feel the handle is too short giving it a sort of cramped feel, but I guess I don't consider this a "hard use" folder, so the ergo's aren't super important to me. If I have one complaint, it's that the dlc (or whatever the coating is on the cf model) seems to wear of easily when the knife rubs against the other crap I have in my pocket. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Thanks for the vid!

    I loved this knife when I first saw it.. only time I’ve said that about a ZT. I bought one thinking that it really could be my endgame edc but it just had too many little things that made it not for me.
    First, the grind, this is a matter of opinion but it just made me miss the thin hollow grind on the knife I’d been carrying. Just gets too thick, too fast.
    Next.. lack of cutout on the show scale making it awkward and uncomfortable to unlock.
    Next.. the clip. Yea I know I can change it but meh.
    Next.. it’s just a little too large for my tastes. Not by much, but still is.
    Next.. I feel like it’s just a little too aggressive looking to be my “take and pull out anywhere” knife
    More.. the screw ends on the “back” side don’t look great. I don’t like the three scoops out of the standoffs. I’d have preferred they just be round. I’m sure I’m forgetting something else but these are things that don’t matter but I still notice em.
    Do I hate the knife? Far from it! It’s just not the edc knife for me. It ultimately just solidified my thoughts that a plain, small, crk was what I really wanted. It’s a gorgeous knife and tons of fun to flick around. My centering is perfect, I love the finish on the scales and it’s just very pleasing aesthetically.

    Got this knife today and was less than impressed. I'm exchanging (+$80) it for the one I really wanted, the zt 452cf. The 450 is just way too similar to my crkt ripple. Yes, better steel, titanium framelock, but it's coming at $100 more! Just not worth it to me to have two knives that are so similar. The ripple is actually smoother in action than the 450. I started collecting about a year ago and my goal is for every knife I buy to be unique unto itself. I was kind of shocked when I took the 450 out of the box at its size. $160 for such a small knife. For anyone who is budget minded, I'd suggest taking a good look at the $60 ripple before pulling the trigger on the zt 450.

    The 0452cf, in my opinion, is the best looking knife has made to date. It's in a class all its own. High class tactical. It's like James Bond kicking someone's ass in a tuxedo.

    If you have large hands get a large knife that's why it's important not to just blindly buy something off the internet got to have it in the hand you're going to have something you're going to carry every day make sure it fits you that's why they sell the zto 452 It's a larger knife

    it would feel better in your hand without that deep carry clip, the original is better for grip.. having both, to me the kershaw skyline feels flimsy compared the the 0450... the skyline liner is thin and the blade is also thin... I would dare say if sebenza made a flipper, it would be hard to beat this.... oh and it would be about $385 for a TI framelock this size

    Don’t irresponsibly opine on self defense with a knife in passing like you did. That’s very irresponsible.
    First off, carrying a knife for self defense opens up A LOT of criminal liability in most states when you carry a folder over 3 inches (like 450) for that purpose. Second 99% of people (including me) are not even close to qualified to defend themselves with a knife. Self-defense, for the vast amounts of people, is not a consideration for an edc folder.
    Wilderness folder??? Who claimed this is a wilderness folder? It’s not designed or marketed as a wilderness folder. Why don’t you just say a Jeep Cherokee isn’t a NASCAR vehicle? Duh! This is an edc folder…
    On the knife itself, I completely disagree with you, but I can’t argue. I think you’re totally wrong, if it doesn’t work for you then you shouldn’t carry it and it makes no sense to keep in your collection. That is fair.

    Does anyone else find that Aaron has become increasingly more arrogant since his channel started? I can't help but laugh when he is "defending" himself from a tree in some of his fixed blade vids. First of all there are very people purchasing knives with the intention of using them in "tactical situations, and for those who are they are not watching these reviews to help with there decision.

      Haha, I know it is silly fighting a tree, I have tried to start using foam dummies, and foam roles now. I have never claimed to be a knife fighter, and say so regularly. I try to keep a level head and just give my honest opinion. As time goes on and I review more products, I know what I like and what I don't and I know what should be expected at a certain price range in quality and fit and finish. I hope it doesn't come off as arrogant. At the end of the day I am just a goof who likes the outdoors and knives, and likes to share my thoughts with the audience.

      LessthanRyan92 Where are you coming up with those numbers? I just ordered a limited edition zt 450 with g10 on one side for $152. The 452cf is $220. I plan on buying the 452cf in the future as I really like larger blades. But if there was only a $25 difference it would be the 452cf all day long.

    If you leave the original pocket clip on you won't have the problem of pushing down on the frame lock. The original pocket clip is longer and is used to rest your thumb on instead of resting it on the frame lock.

    Love the idea of this knife, but I just keep hearing too many small issues with a $180 knife. I want a premium material knife in this range. I am looking at the Benchmade Foray as well. Thank you for your detailed reviews, I think you just saved me $180 on a knife I probably would have ended up not carrying.

    Well you can't knock the man for being honest, that's for sure. This does seem to be a very controversial knife, I just got one myself because of how goddamn gorgeous it was and I'll admit that it's certainly not the most comfortable. I'm gonna replace the clip with an MXG for sure, and it's much more comfortable in a pinch grip. But I'd argue that comfort is not really what it is designed for. You don't wear an Armani suit on a day hike and I hadn't bought this knife with the goal of using it very hard, I have other knives for that. It's a knife to carry around town and do basic stuff with. and I have to say that it is probably the single best made knife I've ever felt to date, the finishing is just immaculate.

    Been thinkn' bout something for a while... this is not calling any particular knife company out, but you would think that any new blade today that hits the market today would have no issues with the ergonomics. Somewhere along the lines someone should be able to pick up the flaw before it's released. I mean, it's their business ! .....PAPA DUKES (playing armchair knife designer)
