We live in South Africa. In a rural, coastal area. Living off the land like this is very possible for us here. Hint: To get the sand out of live clams: Rinse them off, then put them in a bucket of water that has cornstarch dissolved in it (5gal water 1/2c starch) for about an hour. The clams will spit the sand out, and suck up the starch.
