It’s so BEAUTIFUL!!!! 😍😍😍 now, if only i could find ANYTHING close to this is my area. Second hand furniture is EXPENSIVE here in Ireland….and nothing as fabulous as this. Great job girl! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hi Lisa, these dressers are hard to find in my area too. We made many trips and spent months looking until we found this one. Good luck to you, hopefully you’ll find one before you know it.
Andersonville, Tennessee here? Sarah from Forty Five Designs recommended your channel, and I'm so glad she did! I love what you did with this piece. Thanks for sharing!

I’m learning that you are a complete professional at furniture refinishing! Your cleaning, sanding and prep work is top notch, very detailed which is the foundation of what we do. That encourages me to work hard to do the same!
I have a dresser coming up I’ve been wanting to do this way. Thanks for helping me organize my thought process on how to go about it! I’m quite excited about it because yours turned out SO Lovely! Love your process especially taking away that I can use my FLAT topcoat on this one. Agree the cleaning process is key! also I too LOVE spraying my topcoats with good sanding thruout process I get Smooth results!
So excited for your project! If I could have my entire house with this finish I would! It’s not complicated at all either, prepping is key. And yes, I love the buttery feeling after sanding in between coats.
Thank you! In this case, I find it easier to leave them on. My working space is limited, and leaving them on gives more space to walk around the shop aka car garage,
When you sanded did you sand all the stain off or leave a little on. Meaning, did you wash over bare wood or over lightly sanded stained wood. I love this for a gentle color.
Was there a veneer on this that was sanded off? I want to try this on a 60's maple hutch, but i think the finish is a veneer, and im not sure how to handle that...any thoughts?
This was a color wash technique, which works like a stain but using paint instead. The paint is diluted with water, and the wood grain is visible. No primer needed.
@@aliferefurbished one more question! Do you prefer staining/washing or painting your pieces more? What have you found more success flipping for profit?
That is not furniture refinishing. Furniture is finishing is taking off the old varnish and restoring the wood. All she's doing is a Hobby Lobby project.
Refinishing means applying a new finish, this includes paint, what you’re referring to is a restoration. If refinishing is not your thing, this is not the place for you. And thank you, I LOVE HOBBY LOBBY!

Thanks so much! This is very sweet of you. ☺️
Love it! We have so many pieces at our cottage like this that are dark stain and failing finish. I think this would work so well on them.
Great idea!!
Love your methodical renovation!! You are not a broken record!!!

Very nice result. Thanks for the detailed instructions. Isn’t it easier to take the drawers out of the depressed to work on them?
Thank you! In this case, I find it easier to leave them on. My working space is limited, and leaving them on gives more space to walk around the shop aka car garage,
This turned out beautifully! This is the technique l am going to do on a sofa table today.
So fun! I hope it turns out great for you!
Beautiful 🌺🌼
Thank you Melanie! ❤️
Exquisite!!
Thank you!
When you sanded did you sand all the stain off or leave a little on. Meaning, did you wash over bare wood or over lightly sanded stained wood. I love this for a gentle color.
It was stripped down to the bare wood.
you are amazing✨
Thank you 😊❤️
Very nice 👍
Thank you 👍
Can you please tell me if you wipe down after each coat? Thanks so much
Yes I do
Beautiful! Just wondering do you use wood conditioner on your pieces?
I use it some times, but most of the times I don’t. It really depends on the project and the condition the wood is in.
What did you use to paint or refresh the hardware to gold?
I scrubbed it just like I did the coasters
Do you wait in between coats or just apply another coat right after wiping?
I wait about 1 hour between coats
Thank you so much! Out of MANY videos I chose Yours to redo my dressers. Keep up the great work!
Was there a veneer on this that was sanded off? I want to try this on a 60's maple hutch, but i think the finish is a veneer, and im not sure how to handle that...any thoughts?
It was veneer, you could use a chemical stripper instead of sanding if you’re worried about burning through the veneer.
@@aliferefurbished thank you! I'm going to try sanding...what level sandpaper do you recommend on veneer?
Hello, what is the hand tool called that you use in the video at 5:17 minutes in please? 🙂
That’s a carbide scraper
No basecoat under the Algonquin wash??
Not for this piece! But you totally could apply clear shellac before the color wash if needed.
What type of paint and what color?
Hi! All the products are under the video description! 😊
Is there a reason you didn’t apply the primer or paint with the sprayer?
This was a color wash technique, which works like a stain but using paint instead. The paint is diluted with water, and the wood grain is visible. No primer needed.
@@aliferefurbished one more question! Do you prefer staining/washing or painting your pieces more? What have you found more success flipping for profit?
So no stripping? Just sanding?
Correct! Lots of sanding. 😊
You should use some kind of wood wax on the inside to condition the wood. Other than that it looks good.
Thanks! I used a furniture salve, but forgot to record it.
@@aliferefurbished then great job!
