also it reminds me of the Allegory of the cave by Plato since they're not allowed to go out in the light and the doll will never come back if he goes outside

@@Steampianist i'm terrible at explaining stuff but basically there are these people inside this cave that are chained and cannot go outside. the only light they have is that of some torches behind them, and they can only look at a wall in front of them. on this wall they see shadows of some shapes that people behind them put in front of the light of the torches.
sometimes, though, one of those chained people manages to free themselves and go out of the cave. initially they cannot ser anything clearly, because there's too much light and their eyes are not used to it, so they're confused and scared. but when they start to see everything more clearly, then they see what the world is really like. sometimes these people go back in tha cave and tell the chained people about the outside world, but are never taken seriously and are mocked by everyone inside.
it's a metaphor for what a philosopher's jurney is like for Plato when he's searching for the "truth".

That ending sent chills down my spine, looking back on the title, the cruelty of his hope led him astray.

The ending, where the ‘abyss hums’ was kinda sad. The things the doll heard just came from their imagination and curiosity in the unknown, and the mother was actually right. I did not expect that. Wonderful job once again, Steampianist!!

Some time after the boy left, a rumor began to spread. When the abyss was particularly dark, it was said that one could see the light from the boy’s lantern, shining in the dark. Those who were newly made by mother wondered if the boy has met any of the other lights that shone in the dark. ( If I’m wrong and there aren’t supposed to be any other stars then whoops, isn’t that embarrassing! )

this is so soothing!! it reminds me of all my favorite video games all at once. it's nice to hear your unique oliver tuning once again, and i'm impressed by how well the human vocals pair with the synthesizer vocals. their harmony is gorgeous. i especially love the part that starts at 2:57 and the abyss ticking

I can’t stop listening to this song. TBK and Oliver’s voice mend so well, I’d love to hear more songs between them if you’re continuing to work this way. I’ve been a fan of your music for years, since before Perfumer’s Perfect Fumes, and to see that not only do all your songs still feel uniquely you, but to also seem to be getting even better in production and clearly show growth is so amazing. I hope to never see the day where you have to stop producing.
I don't know why but this somehow connects to Candle Boy, as the songs also said something about the doll not being able to go home if he continue to go to the darkness. Just like in Candle Boy he is also holding a torch to guide him through the dark, and what if he is actually the "light goddess" from the 2nd music for the children, and also mentioned in "candle boy" the mother of the children are actually smirking as if they let them go on purpose and candle boy/doll being the Instrument for them to find freedom and happiness. the light goddess also mentioned about a new life for them which might be Candle Boy saying it to the children. I don't know just a theory and it probably doesn't make any sense 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️

I think this is my new favorite song of yours! My favorite lines are "Goodbye to Lamplight" as his Mother echoes "Goodbye Forever." Oof. Oliver's singing so hopefully, it fills me with hope too. Of course that hope is soon dashed, but I guess that's the cruelty of hope, eh? Haha. ;;;;
