- Merry Christmas Everyone here is the prequel to The Scrap Boy.
I wanted to compose music where it is imperative that you have to listen to it along with the video, thus, the reason for the simplistic "almost" background music
I would also like to thank Momocashew for writing the english lyrics based on the story without her writing you'd get another 10 min song..... and a special thanks to Shius for translating the story for us.
Her help is vital for every collab with Nai

Nice chord transitions! I've never heard of a song that so effortlessly and seamlessly weaves between Bm, Em and Dm. I don't know if it's intended, but at the Em to Dm transition starting from 2:33, the BG and L.H.(Bass) part is Em while the lead strings and R.H. is Dm(you can clearly see that it's a variation of the front lead when it continuously plays D, C#, B) and it clashes with the Em inversions. It would have been nicer if it was G, F#, E and transitioned at the last measure or crossfaded in a X-pattern.
hello thanks for the insight full comment. i can see where you're coming from with the G F#, E but i felt the D C# B just gave more tension and urgency since this section of the song is where the laboratory is exploding and because i stuck with that motif i feel that made the transition from the E minor to D minor much better despite that modulating downwards is considered counterintuitive by some.

If I'm getting this right, the scientist was experimenting using souls as a fuel source and potential way to achieve immortality. He used his colleagues' souls (you can see prototypes 1-4 are wearing lab coats) to power the initial prototypes but he deemed them to be failures and terminated them. (he probably took the souls forcefully.) You can see that no.5 was a close friend of the scientist who volunteered (or had his soul taken in his sleep, green-eyed man) and continued to help him as a robot. Shortly after this, we see the robot taking out its soul fuel cell (as if to destroy it and commit suicide), leaving the scientist to use his own soul to power it and continue his experiments. The floating laboratory seems to crash land after its soul crystals lose power, creating the junkyard.
The scientist manages to stay alive in the robotic shell by taking the souls of others who he convinces to give up their souls out of kindness. The scientist likely kept his soul as the controlling soul and used the souls as others for fuel, but eventually, he runs out of fuel and goes dormant. Sometime later, the inventor wanders into the junkyard, and the scientist reawakens because he senses a fresh soul that he can take to renew himself. Little did he know that the boy's soul was stronger than his and when he took the soul, he lost control of the robot and was used up as fuel. The inventor, having been tricked into giving up his soul, finds himself stuck inside the robot. Then the story continues...

I don’t think all the scientists souls were forced because number 1 seemed happy number two might’ve been bothered to the point he just gave up and numbers 3 and 4 were probably forced as they tried to escape

This song is like the story before the Scrap Boy, because and the robots and near the end when it goes "Please give me a soul" it was referencing back to the first song and I find that beautiful, and I just *tears up* I love this song

I loved this new song, the art is beautiful. I love how at the start it has a classic tone then goes into a climax, it makes you feel you're on a adventure. I see the connection with the song 'The Scrap Boy' and how the boy that found the robot at the end made a huge impact with his mechanic skills. The song 'Scrap Boy' brought me through a roller coaster of emotions, at one point I was crying because I felt so sad for the boys soul trapped in the robot. I love this so much, I feel like this is now my favorite Oliver song yet. The music has a very nice steampunk vibe to it and complements Olivers voice a lot. I can't wait until he is the age to release Oliver's true voice actor. I am most likely younger then him so I can't wait to idolize him when revealed. I love Olivers original songs, even though there dark I can relate to some. You guys are awesome, keep doing this for years more, we love you and don't forget we all support you.💙✨💙

If you look closely at the thumbnail, you see the robot in The Scrap Boy, so this could be a sequel to it about the other boys (the one that built the robot that ran on electricity) story with his two new friends, the robot and the doll.
