This video was so beautiful. Now it makes much more sense! What you described makes it perfectly clear. I think anyone who could have their life upended so quickly would carry at least some trust issues with them about whether a man will stay with her. It makes sense why she would be so eager to find a stable, loving, supportive partner that is loyal. Thank you so much for this info! It helps me better understand the culture and mindset of a Filipina. Thanks Pea!
I know a lovely Filipina who admits to having separation anxiety. As a pilot, we are often gone 3-4 days at at time before returning home. I wonder what the best way would be to ease the anxiety besides just proving that I'll return time and again. Do you have any advice Pea?

The Filipina I’m with now doesn’t get along with her dad. She’s 30 and I’m 57 the 26th of this month. I know it really surprises her if I send her a text or a message just randomly it might be just a ❤, 🌹 or a 💋 or all together.

Hi Pea! Buffalo Tom here--- glad to see that you're feeling better. Add Psychologist to the growing list of occuPeations on your resume. I sometimes wish you had a new post everyday , but to enjoy your quality of production takes time. It's obvious to us Pea-nuts you work very hard . So if you wanted to do just one a week , the pain & suffering of Pea-withdrawal would be a small price to pay for having our favorite Filipina well rested & healthy! You do so much for others, now do something you yourself. Sometimes you gotta be a little bit selfish, 'look out for number one', etc . Or not . Up to you . Just saying. Thankyou Pea, you are always a big help. I"ve been seeing a Pina over in Mindinoa for 3 yrs now. I'm a older man and have two grown kids from a prior marriage here in America. She left me and the two kids I was devastated, she is on her third marriage now. Me I stayed single for many years, I raised my kids. I loved being a dad and a husband, that's what make a man a family. Well I hope to get over there soon. She has kids but I don't care, I'm still a dad. My dad was my best friend and we did alot together like fishing, crabbing, baseball etc. My x was a career woman and really didn't want kids I did. I was the only kid and hated it. Dad was from 12 kids and mom was from four. I have my faith and believe in Jesus, amen!

@@TheFilipinaPea The difference between the Filipino extended family is that it acts as a support system unlike in the west where the state use its institutions to control certain segments of the population. Human behavior can be predicted to act in a certain way given a stimulus but not always. Human beings are complicated and this is what makes it hard to make blanket conclusion especially in therapy. Though its a good start for diagnosis, we should not make the means to be the "cure'. The daddy issues you mentioned are no different than the ones here in the developed west. The thing is that the Filipino way where the relatives are involved at some level to make certain things taboo has a purpose in keeping society stable. I disagree with you however that being macho precludes a dad from doting on their daughters. This is not what I find among Filipino males. its rather the economic issues which forced them not to be emotional. Emotions do not solve anything. Men should not be emotional. They should be logical and rational. That said it should not preclude them from showing affection either. It is the job of the mother to shape the girl to be a woman. A boy does not have that "luxury" because it is a challenge to be good at being a man. This is the only purpose of being in this world as a male whether society imprints them with certain roles or not. Which is something no woman will ever understand. I do agree though that lying to a child about certain things can be detrimental while growing up. Using it as a crutch however and all the excuses to not grow up and "suck it up" is no good either. There is no time for depression nor for self validation and the lack of daddy's affection when survival is the core of one's existence. Don't be fooled by the West's behavioral theories. Its over rated and they don't have all the answers either. It makes for good money though. Sociology, Psychotherapy, Psychology and even Religion try to answer the human question. That to a certain extent we are defined by our environment.

@@uriahthehittite2309 I absolutely agree... Also, I've been living here in Canada for the past 36 years now. And when I listened to some of these west behavioral theorists, they just do a lot of talking but with a very few right answers.

Why the deception? Where are the matters of accountability
I feel so sad because the children ultimately pay the price
How do you educate to stop this toxicity. It makes no sense for a poor country that as you state has electricity cut off frequently and no welfare system, why are these mothers continuing this toxic cycle when cannot afford to raise a child. Education is paramount and I state again I feel sorry for those poor innocent souls called children

Great show Pea. I learned something new today and can understand my wife maybe just a little bit more. She lost her dad when she was just 10 I think. Even worse he was killed right in front of her. I can’t imagine the mental scars she has. She was sent to live with her aunt so her mom could find a new husband. Her mom married again and had two more daughters but never sent for my wife. She was treated like a maid instead of a fully loved member of her family. She forgave her mom and now she lives with us without a financial care in the world. We also help her two sisters financially because they both have multiple kids. They are both married but their husbands have substance abuse issues. She has more forgiveness in her heart then I will ever have because once you have abandoned me, you no longer exist to me. I have worked so hard to make her feel loved, safe, and trust that I will always be here for her as long as I’m alive. Thankfully I think she believes that now. You got me in my feelings thinking about how much I love her. I think that’s what makes western men and Asian women such a great match. We are willing to sacrifice so much for our wives and kids happiness, all we want in return is respect and to be loved and appreciated. Filipinas will give all their heart to any man who’s worthy on the inside no matter what they look like on the outside. Keep up the great job Pea and tell pirate Pea to have one on me. Lol

Pea, you just explained so much to me about my daughter. Understand that she's not biologically mine. But she's still 100% my daughter. Her biological father wants nothing to do with her. While even after her momma and I parted she and I maintain closeness. I have never stopped telling her that I love her and letting her know that she is the most awesome and beautiful daughter anyone has ever been blessed with. She was a very withdrawn nine year old child when her momma and I got together. And now she'll video chat me at 0300 just to say, "Mahal kita sobra, Papa Ken!!" I've made many prosperous investments in my lifetime thus far. But letting her know that she is loved, valued and cared for is above them all. Thank you for helping me understand more about my daughter's thought process and culture. You are a huge blessing to us, Pea. I'm grateful to know you.

Having dated much younger women in my past, I’ve learned from them as well. One particularly intelligent young lady, told me she enjoyed our conversations, my mannerisms, and that she felt her maturity was appreciated. Another time, i was talking with a friend who was a mother of a teenage girl, she was angry at the approaches by older men towards her daughters. I understood her position, it was correct, protective, but i saw it was laced with a touch of some personal history. I told her, as long as her daughter was taught well, displayed an understanding of realities and was cautious, to trust her daughter. Keep an open, honest and respectful dialogue with them. Meet the suitors to see their nature. Better to learn from an open book, than learn much was happening unknown and in the dark where sometimes a better solution was too late. Such things are not easy to handle, often personal history and other emotional subjectivities hinder honesty, openness and fairness. Ps, your opening “Does that sound good to you daddy?”, made me blush.

7:53 Fantastic to bring this topic up!!! "Conditional" love vs "unconditional" love of the child is a huge problem (think Stockholm Syndrome where the victim falls in love with the perpetrator in a quest for unfulfilled reciprocity). The "utang na loob" (to send money home like an OFW), often arises out of conditional love more than just a desire to help the parents. I've seen daughters sold to rich men or encouraged to marry foreigners to send money home. Conditional love keeps the money flowing.

Pea you are an Angel. I once worked as part of an outreach program with my church at a youth facility for offenders too young for prison. The number one complaint from these kids, with tears streaming down their faces was, 'their father never one day told them they loved them'. After hearing that so many times, I never let a day pass without hugging my two boys and telling them that I love them. It started when they were 2 and 3 yrs old and it continues today at 27 and 28. If we talk on the phone or in person, no conversation ends without, 'I love you Son. I love you dad'.

Hey Pea, another one of your very best, in my opinion. Thank you for making this.
I think you have uncovered a very deep-seated driver of the Filipina psyche that you describe so eloquently in many of your videos.
More powerful than the desire for a better life, or improved social status or security, is the craving for a parent's love. Its absence (or perceived absence) can have a huge effect on shaping who we become.
As you may, (or may not) remember, my mother died when I was 3 years old. My grieving father jumped on a plane and left the country. He left me and my 18 month old brother with my grandmother, without any explanation of where he was going or what had happened to our mother.
It had a huge effect on me, especially for the first 25 years of my life.
I can understand better now why younger local women might entertain us older foreigners as a viable relationship partner.
(I'm not sure all of it is entirely healthy, but in the absence of professional counselling services ) ....
Maybe the foreigner/Filipina connection is more symbiotic than at least I would have thought at first glance.
Maybe we scratch more of each other's "itches" than we realise?

It's a really important topic the Pea opened here. Way worse than most can imagine. He other video (our children our money makers, utang na loob) is a must watch too. I've seen 80 year old men with pure young brides lining up to marry as directed by their parents. Meanwhile, handsome young men they are attracted to are denied. I could tell you more, but you get the idea. The underlying basis is "conditional" vs unconditional love of the child. The child is forever seeking the reciprocal altruism they never receive.

    Pea:
    GREAT TOPIC TODAY!
I had no idea that you were a therapist! You really bring out the points of the possibilities of why a person, no matter their culture may have these issues. Not to mention how a stranger from a strange land with a stranger way of dealing with things could send fireworks of joy into the minds and hearts of Filipinas dealing with these issues.
For the most part, Western movies and tv shows really don't express the reality of life here in the west, but it's closer than just guesswork, and I could imagine the shock when westerners start showering their Filipina girlfriend or wife with affection and telling them that they love them more often than they are used to I can imagine the state of mind it would put them in. But for the most part, western men, the real men, will shower their women with affection in return for the affection they receive from their partners. It goes both ways. Men have the desire to be appreciated, cared for, and loved just like women do, and when those desires are fulfilled, they shower their partner with the same in return just to keep the fires burning in their relationship.
I'm glad to see that you put an ending clip in this video. I really enjoy your ending clips just as much as the meat of the content you deliver. it's like giving your viewers dessert after a great meal. just to satisfy the palate until the next course comes out.

I have noticed that family relations in Asian cultures differ a lot from our "western" cultures and there is also a big difference within the western cultures. As an example, Americans say I love you all the time. In Europe, we don´t, but we hug and kiss our loved ones all the time 🤭. Anyway, American and European children know that they are loved BUT they hardly talk or spend time with their parents at all. We are too busy working. Our children bond more with their friends and I think that is bad. In my world, children need supervision and guidance from their parents and grandparents. Thank you, Pea, this topic is so important to discuss.

I loved hearing this perspective. It makes me more open to a relationship with a younger woman when I know that the motivation is pure in nature. Providing and loving is in my nature, and having someone who craves and respects that more would give me a sense of purpose and fulfillment. I now see it as a mutually beneficial situation rather than a one sided deal.
Thank you for explaining this one to me, I truly appreciate it.
