@8:30 A washing machine was the 2nd best investment I made. It frees up the time of the three adult sisters living in my house. They are all students so need that time for study. Also it saves their hands from the scrub board. Sadly their electric still hasn't been restored so they are back to doing it by hand. Hopefully electric will come back on soon, before classes resume.
Hi Pea, live from Ate Pea’s corner 😂 Another useful travelers’ guide for the Philippines 🇵🇭 Faithful to your moto, you definitely surprise and entertain! Today’s topic is extremely useful, very practical, precise, so humorous and does make sense! Thank you for those very useful tips! You have seen all the pros and cons, you provide an appropriate answer for every subject. Charming presentation, high definition and quality video as per usual. I am sure many subscribers are going to say that they want you as their maid, and I guess what kind of personal service they expect: you are to blame as your Pea French maid outro seems explicit enough, no innuendo bien sûr! Of course la réponse est oui ! 😂🥰
@15:50 Is there any such thing as a Pinay who doesn't have a crisis frequently? Often their "crisis," isn't that difficult to solve, as it's really just a mole hill, not a mountain. The recent typhoon of course caused a truely big crisis. We're solving that too, it will just take some time.
When my wife was sick i hired a Filipina housekeeper. She worked for us for a few years and became a part of the family. Such a nice lady i could tell many stories of all the little things she did above and beyond what was required. I will never forget that wonderful lady😊
Great topic Miss Pea. When I was stationed in Philippines the going rate for a house girl was 10 dollars a month. Our house girl became part of our family and we stayed in contact for years after I left. Our girl was a young filipina without much education or future. We treated her very well and she treated us good. Usually at the end of the month we would buy her some article of trailer made clothes. On weekends I would give her money for the movie and a treat afterwards. She was a live in and I never had to worry about theft or dishonesty from her. I know that’s not always the case. We really missed that when we came back to the states. My one word of advice is guys don’t boink your house girl. It’s always trouble.
"Don't boink your house girl"! 😂 Never employ one that will tempt you. While a housemaid with benefits sounds great on the face of it it will blowup in your face at some point! Many Filipino girlfriends won't let you have a young housemaid they will insist you employ an older one (often a relative (Tiya))
My father was stationed at Subic Bay for three years when I was a child. I remember the maid taking care me and with kindness. I was treated by her as her child. She would take me shopping with her out in the city, it was a great learning experience. Later in my life, I was in the Navy and when our sub had up keep there, I would live in the town and always made sure a maid was included. She took care of everything I would just give her money and everything was done. She even would try to find me a wife, a good girl as she would say. I got spoiled by this kind of life, when I worked in the Philippines after the Navy, I was there for a few years, and of course I had a maid. I got lucky, she was young and beautiful, I couldn't resist her charm and care. So now my maid is my wife.
Same old song and Dance. "Wail, I was stationed at Subic Bay or Clark AFB in the sixties,....." Not relevant information at all. It's completely different than today. Stow your memories. It takes an income of 150-200K a year plus 4-6M in assets in JP Morgan. You don't need to transfer the money, but you can get what you need by wire.
A note of caution: try to avoid hiring a housekeeper from your sweetheart's close family. That can introduce a set of problems that you may not want to deal with. One is that she doesn't quite work out and you want to replace her, leading to conflict with your sweetheart over a family member losing a source of income and loss of hiya. The other is it can sometimes generate a feeling of excessive privilege, with the housekeeper assuming she can get away with behavior just because she is "family". Another is that, because it's her family member, your girlfriend can automatically take the housekeeper's side in any disagreement with you and suddenly it becomes two against one in your home. I'm not saying it never works, because that same exact situation works fine for us. But we've had decades to deal with the issues also.
Great point Rick, and I totally agree with you. I was surprised to read all the comments from people that do have relatives working as their housekeepers, and saying how wonderful it was. I don’t think that would work for me
@@TheFilipinaPea That is actually a good rule to follow regardless of the circumstances. That's one of the reasons why I would never hire my own family for any job that I had available when I was a business owner. I understand other people may have a different opinion on that issue, but that was the way I always felt most comfortable.
I remember being deployed to the Philippines as a young sailor and meeting a guy who had been stationed there for some time. He lived off base and had a maid (later I found out she took care of more than his household needs as well). He invited me over one day and I saw how he treated her (poorly). Needless to say I didn't hang around him after that. Remember: Treat others as you would want to be treated. Definitely one of my favorite videos of yours, Miss Pea. I'd love to see a video on hiring a driver/yard maintenance man as well. Thanks!
I had a filipina nanny growing up. My mom gave her full rule over me and she raised me like a local. Which is one of the reason's why I can adapt to situations here and understand the mannerisms a lot along with speaking the language, not well but getting better. Now I can tell when and what people are talking about me and call them out. LOL
Reminds me of “in the day” when you could kick the crap out of somebody if they deserved it. An acquaintance of mine had a Japanese wife and of course was somewhat proficient in the language. Long story, short; he thought someone said something about his wife while they were speaking Japanese, so he confronted them. They weren’t speaking about her, he misinterpreted, got just about everything in him kicked out by a dude about 1/2 a foot shorter than him. Big fun for me cause I knew the idiot was, well…..an idiot. I keep my limited Spanish to myself.
Yeh, I learned when they are talking about me... most of the time, especially if I am there. I am learning the language but will probably not ever let them hear me speak it so they will keep thinking I don't understand them talking about me.
@@edbrackeen5979 great advice! lol I speak several languages and keep it to myself lol. By doing so I can listen in on conversations and learn who is talking about me and what they are saying. It’s come in handy quite often.
Although I have been retired in Central America rather than the Philippines for a long time, the scope and excellence of your advice applies perfectly here. It might take several tries before you find a suitable housekeeper, but it can be well worth the time and effort. Our housekeeper has actually saved us money and made retirement much, much more pleasant. My approach is to treat her with the same degree of respect and loyalty she displays in her job. Our housekeeper has been with us for over ten years, and she continues to be a blessing. It might be a good idea to listen to this video two or more times. You will not find better and more complete advice than that given by Filipina Pea in this video.
The secret to have a good househelper is treat her like she is like a family ,and respect that she is a human being … Because the problem with some locals ,they treat helpers like they own them ,belittle
I still remember a visit to Hong Kong years ago and seeing all of the beautiful young Filipina maids enjoying their Sunday picnics in Victoria Park. Very unforgettable.
@@ajw9377 Got that right... them and Indonesian DHs have raised at least 2 generations of HKers but they treat them as subhumans but as I always say: It's only racism if you're white
Unfortunately a lot of them are abused, I used to date a maid from Indonesia 🇮🇩 who worked in Hong Kong 🇭🇰. Sad case how they treated her, glad she escaped and lives her life free now!
I have a filipina helper that that does the cleaning, taking care of the kids and many other things around the house and does a great job and always has a smile on her face. She is a delight and a relief having around knowing my kids are safe with her while I'm away.
Hello Pea good video topic👍🏻 I’m one of those guys still deciding if I should get a live in house keeper or a girlfriend to look after me and keep the house in order 😂
Have engaged my housekeeper for more than 16 years and yes she is a lot more than just a housekeeper as she takes care of everything in Dumaguete. A truly essential addition to our life
Thank you for mentioning to treat the maid well and not to mistreat or underpay her . I was raised with 6 siblings and my late mother worked our whole childhoods as a Maid and housekeeper as kids we were embarrassed by her profession but now I know the sacrifices she made for us and she took pride in her work and was always happy.
exactly, not only is the right thing to do, but if you do treat them bad or underpay, you're giving them an excuse as such to steal or just take off and not come back... it is in your best interests to be a good employer as well !
This video is something that people who are not culturally aware should see from time to time. It has practical information that actually can be applied in many countries.
Steven you have that sooooooooooo right, even my warped mind couldn't take away from the information Pea imparted nor the importance of due diligence needed to make sure you get an worthy employee and remember they are "an employee" not a potential sex toy or slave to use and abuse. Well said sir.
I feel like a follow up video with a panel of housekeepers would be interesting to get some insight into the culture and different situations that come up (and also chisme lol)
For those needing the services of a good housekeeper your info is spot on. They are not only an employee but so much more. The pay and benefits aspect generally always can be agreed upon. The one thing I wished you would have touched on is how to let someone go if it just isn't working out. Great topic😀
If someone didn't treat her right this would be the time she would report you. I would definitely need a house maid. I didn't realize how much help they could be , when you figure in errands and paying bills , language understanding. Thanks.
I think with all those services that the maid provides there should b more pay. Time off should be more. 15 hrs a day is unhealthy. U should b trying to get better benefits for ur flillipino people. Why r u making them out to b thieves n untidy people.
@@larrysamuels6694 Apparently you didn't listen carefully to the video. You have completely misconstrued her very practical advice. If you care about learning, re-watch the video.
I'm from Paraguay, and living in Germany now. You won't believe the looks I get from the germans every time I mention that I had two housekeepers and a cook in my homeland. 😁 So yes, if someday I get to live in the Philippines, I'd definitely do the "housekeeper route" again. As a single guy who dont likes to do household chores, I really, really miss them here. 😂
if i had seen your videos earlier in my life, i would have moved to the Philippines. You do a terrific job promoting your country. Its not all positive but its very clear and easy to understand through you.
Filipina maids are a great benefit to a foreigner. A good maid is worth her weight in gold. Sometimes she can help you avoid scams. These are things that a good girlfriend or wife can do. Let her do the food buying. I have seen a good woman haggle with vender till he gave up exasperated. Also minus a few hairs from stress. It is hard to choose a good maid, sometimes it is a learning process to find a good maid. In some ways hiring a maid is like looking for a wife. In the end a good maid can save you not only money but also time.
We were recommended a single mom who was a masseuse , a very good one too . She now helps us around the house also to earn a bit extra money . She is a really hard worker and we appreciate having her around . Once you have the trust in each other , it's a real great working relationship . I am still stuck in The UK , but I still communicate with her , normally trying to sort out her love life , haha !
Reading this reminds me of my wife cousins. For some reason they always want me in the discussion of their love life's. I rarely understand the significance they think is so apparent and seem to attribute strange meanings to every little thing. "He bought a new phone, that means he is dating a cook at local restaurant doesn't it?" I have to admit, entertaining though. Like having an on demand soap opera (tele novella).
A guy did a video of his budget in the Philippines. He had a wife/girlfriend living with him and she brought her kid and mother, too. He liked it. He said he gave his mother-in-law some small amount like you said, because she did everything to keep the house and run things. If you have to give your girlfriend/wife money so she can support her family, this sounds like a good idea if everyone can be peaceful.
If this type of situation works for you then go for it. There are quite a few guys who have one of their wife/gf family members either living with them or coming over to do the housekeeper chores. It works great for many people. If you can make that work then good on you.
Getting things ready to retire to the Philippines and part of my planned budget was for a maid/housekeeper. I've had one when before and they make life so much easier and well worth their salary. The trick is to keep the line between professional and personal, so like others have mentioned, it's highly recommended you don't mix the two. If you want a personal relationship, then you're better off just looking for a wife. As I'm going to be moving over as a single person myself, the one issue I'd decided was not to have a 'live-in', as it may cause more problems than it's worth. That said, finding and keeping a good maid/housekeeper should be carefully decided upon. If you have some friends who could recommend candidates, still check them out. If possible, see if you could talk with their past employers and get a good background on them. The only problem is if you have to let one go, then it could be a bit of drama. Just make sure you don't get excited and/or angry, and try to have someone else around as a witness - just to be safe. Being accused without a witness could land you into a world of hurt and trouble.
Another great topic, pea. When I was stationed at subic bay in the late 70's, I got into an argument with my superiors about how little they were paying the locals, taking advantage of them, slavery, the whole nine yards.. It got very heated. But I had a good commander. Rather than punish me, he sat me down and explained the economics and culture and the negative impacts that suddenly having lots of money would cause because he had seen it happen before. And while he actually agreed that we didn't pay much, in our assessment, for the locals they were being paid very adequately and even had weekend off and had health and other benefits as well. I had to think on this a while and go out into the towns and villages nearby and observe life before I understood. It is not an overstatement to tell people they should only pay the current going rate. It is actually the kindest thing you can do. As you said by example, a woman might think she has enough money, then quit her job only to discover a month or two later it was a big mistake. Many people don't know how to handle larger sums of money even in my country, let alone in yours. Giving them slow and moderate pay raises over time allows them to adjust to having a little more money as time goes on. Personally, because I am one of those generous people, struggle with this even though I know the consequences. But it is the best way. And if you find a good one, she will be like family and stay with you for years as many have pointed out here. Thanks for bringing this up. But I agree that a good follow up would be how to let someone go if you find the need to do that. Carry on, good pea.
@@TheFilipinaPea it's sad and unfortunate but true. Even in the US, these simple things aren't taught in school. Unless you are in a high priced preparatory school, you have no hope to learn these basic skills until it's too late. If you are lucky in my country your parents will make sure you learn. But that's uncommon here. The best we can do in your country is to help people learn little by little and hopefully affect the way they think about these things in a positive way. It's not the most desirable way, but we can help, as you do in your way, the few people we can. Touch lives one at a time and hopefully things will change over time. If we all do that, the results would be visible.
@@LootGoblin4510 yes he did. He was also the same guy that gave me the official dressing down after I got into a fight with several sailors that came into our. But then he wanted me to tell him all the details. Afterwards he shared some similar stories from his past. I thought it was pretty cool at the time being so young.
@@DrDlane Yes, but most Filipinas are eager to learn personal finance and if you discuss finances, they catch on quickly. I would train our BPO employees when they came to Chicago and hey were always curious as to how personal and business finances worked.
The a few problems I had at first with my helper was leaving food out . I would warn her about it and if it would continue I would just throw the food in the trash because I am not going to eat food that has been left out a couple of hours that will make me sick. Over cooking meat and fish where there was no flavor left was another one . And sometimes I sent her to the grocery store and she didnt come home with certain items because she said they were too expensive . I told her it wasnt her money or her decision to make if something cost too much. Everything is great now after almost 3 years of her learning how I like things
Great post! I have a house and a fair amount of property in Philippines in Quezon Province. I have employed a housekeeper for many many years. She is a local from the Barangay and, I must say, I never considered her a maid - she is family to me and that is how I treat her and her family, husband and children. I trust her completely and consider her like my daughter (she is half my age). I hope she never leaves.
@@michaelfreemantle4295 Yes, you’re right, but it seems like housekeeper is the preferred word now. For me though, especially after this long, she is my family even though I pay her a monthly wage.
The one thing you forgot to mention, is to avoid hiring a Facebook addict. Most of my Pinay friends are housekeepers, and they are chatting with me all day on FB, instead of working, lol. I think rules about house guests are very important, because Westerners are more private, and less trusting of strangers. Filipino culture is very open, social, etc ... they often don't vet people, so the person they invite over could be a thief, rude, or something like that. I do my own laundry, if I hired a housekeeper I would not need her to do too much work. I think "translation" would be very helpful. For me someone trustworthy would be very important, and someone who could understand my culture, without being offended by it. I have found that many Pinay's have trouble understanding other cultures have different traditions. Based on my Pinay friends, I could see it would be a positive experience with some, but with others it would be difficult.
Great vlog FP! I was surprised when my Filipina wife told me her family had a live in maid who did cooking, cleaning, etc. and lived with them. She actually taught my wife how to cook and was an excellent cook. Here in the U.S. only the wealthy have live in maids. Thanks!
My mother-in-law has several younger family members that take care of her and the home 24/7. That is one of the aspects we are really looking forward to when we can begin to spend four to five months a year there during the winters. There are many of the nearby under-12 family members who pass through the house daily, and they already consider my wife and I their Lola & 'Cano Lolo.
Pea you were indeed Made in the Philippines and may I say your parents did an amazing job. Thank you for another awesome video that again gives foreigners so much info re living in and enjoying their time in PI. The insight you give is truly informative and helpful to westerners who want to get their feet wet in Filipino culture and experiences. God bless.
Ms Pea...I lived in the PI for 10 years and we had a cook and a house maid and they grew up with me..My parents wanted to bring them back to America with us, but it was a complicated endeavor...they were the greatest two girls you ever wanted to meet....
Way cheaper then I thought. I'd pay that every month just to avoid waiting in line in the hot sun for 2 hours to pay bills. You are a very smart young lady that is full of great info and explain things great. Thanks for all you do to help everyone.
As a party of one when I arrive in the Philippines (someday I hope); I hadn't even considered what you propose in this video. However, now it's food-for-thought. Thanks Pea.
Pea - you are truly a treat and great for many ideas and laughs. You in a maid costume was certain to get men to watch - and what you say is invaluable to those interested in moving to the Philippines. My wife is Indonesian - and she thinks you're a great speaker for your country, and that you're very funny (in a good way!) Keep making videos!
As a man who moved to The Philippines in 2018, I found this particular article to be one of your very best. Yes, I have personally witnessed abuse of domestic help in The Philippines. These maids, as indicated in the article, can be worth their weight in gold and many/maybe most are wonderful people! You lightly touched on maids being abused in foreign countries. This has been my crusade to expose horrific treatment of some/likely many OFWs! The Arab countries are the worst but, not the only brutal countries! i.e.- Rape and physical abuse is not prosecuted in Saudi Arabia and in many other countries. Many workers are too embarrassed to report these atrocities! All of these workers have their passports confiscated and held upon arrival. The workers are entrapped slaves! Why does The Philippine government allow this? These workers are sending money back home, which accounts for a whopping 10% of the entire country's economy. (10% 0f The GDP!)
Thanks for your comment, Mac! I’d like to help shed light on the problem by doing a video (or series of videos) on the situation, and I’m looking for former OFW’s who would discuss it in an interview (it can be a video interview, and the person I’m interviewing can hide their identity or even sit in the dark!) Do you know anyone that might be willing???
How I understand it the Philippine Government is actually looking into some of the OFW Jobs and taking some action where there is some history of abuse and warning/stopping OFW from actually leaving, also giving them some handy tips.. I remember seeing this about a month ago, Some advice... NEVER hand over their passport, only a copy if required for validation for employment... if they insist, I would insist... not to work for them... It's Fair.. we don't hand over our passports, unless you have been very bad and it's to the police etc... just carry copies to show them when required on either on paper or phone when required... remember.. your passport is your lifeline to get back home if required.
@@LootGoblin4510 The government has been "looking into it" for years! Just political talk! Even a Philippine Consul was brought home from the Mid-East for slapping her Filipina maid multiple times a couple of years ago. Nothing else happened! She was an appointee of a high ranking Filipino Official!
PI needs government officials speaking up for OFWs. They should be able to change employers, keep their passport, have complaints investigated and more. PLUS a reasonable minimum wage.
Just found this channel and I have to say this information is fascinating. It’s fun learning about other places and cultures. I had a co worker move to the Philippines years ago and get married and he was saying a lot of stuff like this but I didn’t really pay much attention. Kinda sounds like the Philippines are a little slice of heaven. 😊
Pea, watching you describing all those maid's benefits made me smile, you really are passionate about helping people ! Have you considered opening a job agency ? maybe together with your lawyer friend ? you could help a lot of local jobless single moms, and expats as well ! 🙂
I hired a maid and she worked great for a while I lived in 4 bedroom condo and gave her one bedroom with bath paid 5000 pesos a month she cooked and washed my clothes she did all I never made any advances to her as she was very young 16 treated with respect but one day she left and never returned I don't know why
A very fascinating talk. And helpful. Not just for the Philippines. My son mentioned that when he was in China, having a maid come around (just a couple of hours) was very cheap and necessary to clean up the place, the dirty dishes, etc. However, here in the States, it is limited to the wealthy, as the middle class can't afford a maid. In those old American TV shows, people had more maids. No more. But nothing prevents one from hiring a maid for a couple of hours. It doesn't have to be every day. Of course, in the "old" days, a "housewife" would do those things and more. These days, a female in America doesn't even know how to cook! Forget about anything else. LOL. A fascinating, and potentially dangerous, subject.
When I was in the Philippines. I was going to a local church. And found lady’s there. Also, found working Students too. Paid between P4k-P5k a mth ( $95-$100). With free room and board..I had asked the Bishop/Pastor/Minister for recommendations. It also helps having a local to keep u safe when u are out and also to answer the door for you,etc.. One of the things I did there was help foreigners understand the do’s and don’t. The local government agency I was with would refer me to these Foreigners. Pea gives a lot of good information here..
As an American who was an expat in Africa and Asia for a few years, just wanted to note how useful this kind of insight is if you want to get out of the USA for a visit or a lifetime. Very well structured info, and a hostess who is as witty as she is pretty.
Among so many informative yet entertaining videos you have done, this ranks among the best. As a Blackman with grandparents raised in the South, I have much respect for the occupation of housekeeper or domestic work. I recently learned that my Great Aunt was a domestic for Elvis Presley, though she never talked about it. This video has made me determined to seek and obtain services of a Filipina Maid. Trust me, when I propose marriage later this year, I will not expect you to be standing in long lines.
Wow. As a middle-aged, chronically single = lazy man, I'd gladly pay twice that salary for half the working hours, if somebody REALLY did ALL the cooking & cleaning & ironing for me! And yet Pea warns us about overpaying?? Holy hell. Too good to be true. Peas info, however, tends to be as solid as it is fascinating, so... Wow.
Did that in Thailand Cheaper than palimony or alimony or child support. It is a bargain Treat them like children Buy them clothes, pay their medical bills. I would even pay them when I am in another country maybe 75 to 80% of the time. Water the plants, drive the car once a week, take care of my mail or guests. Their salary is nothing even if u pay double. Much cheaper than a wife.
Thanks for the explanation on the Phillipina Maid. Here in the West, I have a couple of older friends that have what is called "LIVE INS" They usually have a large home where you can separate yourself from the main living area. This way he offers a Woman to live in his house (many times with young children) food and shelter for free. He doesn't pay her like an employee. She can still work on her own but doesn't have to worry about paying rent or buying groceries. She basically lives her own life as well as you do. They often hang with each other from time to time but neither are obligated to one another. There is an understanding between them that there is no problem having a Booty Call.
I remember when my sister and I were kids my Lola had 2 maids where we live in Bicol. That lifestyle was amazing. Then my folks wanted us to live with them in the US. My sister and I thought my folks had maids in there house but no. My folks introduced us to the word chores took my sister and I awhile to assimilate into the American culture. I still definitely miss living back home with maids doing everything. My Lola spoiled my sister and I.
My wife grew up with several maids taking care of her and the siblings, along with the house. And yes, you are right, it was quite a cultural shock when she came to the states and no such personal services were available. She knew that in her head before she came, but experiencing it is a bit different. 😁
One of my favorite songs is by Neil Young's, "A Man Needs a Maid". For all of the reasons you portray, this suits me. Perhaps I am in the wrong place. My needs are simple, my goals few, now that I am above required servitude. A place like yours is so appealing, I will continue to watch and learn of your home. Interesting!
Miss Pea, for me this is one of your very best videos. Highly informative dealt from all angles. Keep this format coming on a more regular basis, You always share great content. Your evolution is a joy to watch, I have learned and will apply much of what you share with us. Thank you so much for all the effort you put in to sharing your culture, You make you Peeps proud. 🌹
Just as any employer respectable employer, I would have a 30, 60, 90 day rule for performance review. Also, I’d definitely give two days off. You need the downtime for your own mental wellbeing and frankly if you have a good maid, you want to retain that. My wife’s aunt in Ortigas has had the same live in housekeeper for over 20 years. Shes no longer considered a maid, she’s considered family.
I have 2 Filiinas working for me remote, they work 5 days a week and during their day time. At first they did discuss getting a better salary and I let them know that it depends on several factors, such has their punctuality, work performance, quality of work an delivering work on a timely fashion, it also depends on business needs. Eventually I will give them a raise but I won't discuss it until the mentioned factors are met.
Truly enjoyed this topic. I actually never hired a maid before. But I have hired teachers to be a private tutor for my son since he was 3 yes old. And they have been amazing and caring to my son. Now he’s 5yrs old and does great in school.
If I ever did go to the Philippines to live , and have a maid, I would just love to have an honest, fair, trustworthy , mature, experienced beautiful inside out woman maid to take care of my basic needs and I would be very happy and treat her as good as she treats me 💯 % I’m not talking about serious dating or marriage, even though if the chemistry was great between us , I probably would treat her as good as a good husband would treat a good wife! ;)))
Sorry for my late to the party comment Lady Pea, but as always you deliver. Love your natural ability to foresee and bring forth the importance navigating to and through the Philippines for a way of safe and comfortable living. Thank you so much for commitment to your viewers Lady Pea. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I like this presentation, It feels like I'm sitting across from you and having a chat! Here in Central America, Things with maids/housekeepers are quite similar! Sometimes it is necessary to train your maid to clean to your standards, and once she knows what is expected from her, it is of great value! Sometimes it is easier to find a person with no experience so she doesn't have to "unlearn" bad habits! There is an important distinction between paying using the government's labor system and paying "under the table"! I have also seen the downside of generosity - it can definitely backfire! I'm glad to hear I've made your day! :)
Hi Pea, I always thoroughly enjoyed every video that you do, I have listened to others Gio the time that you talked with him and I listen to a number of the ones from Paul, but I have seen some other videos from some other filipinas and nobody holds a candle to you you are very well spoken you are very professional the way you do things and it is always interesting no matter what it is you put a spin on it to make it interesting, which in my book makes you the best, keep up the good work you are such a good person and once again thanks for helping that older couple out that was awesome, you will always be special to me because you did that you told me you would and you did and that means a lot it shows the kind of person that you really are, very very special with a big heart ❤️
When I was sending this last message to you I was interrupted with the phone call but there is a poem called the dash it's a beautiful poem the dash of course refers to the dash on your tombstone when you were born when you die and the dash in between is what you do with your life, your dash is going to be a beautiful dash you've done so much to help people so many ways, I'm so impressed with you as a person, you're pretty cute too, but your big thing you're most important thing is the heart that's inside of you that's the most important and yours is just amazing, your parents did a good job I saw where you grew up you didn't have a lot but I know you had love I can tell that because you give so much love out to people, you're special don't ever think you're not God bless
Treat your employee as part of your family. That's how you win their loyalty. I have a couple who looks after my mom's house. They took care of the house & garden unsupervised. We trust them to make their own decisions when it comes to managing the house. We never treated them as maid & gardener because we also helped them do the work when we are in the Philippines. When we eat, our employees eat with us as family. We share stories & jokes with each other. They are free to bring their family to the house. We prefer it that way. We don't want the house to be empty. It's creepy staying in a huge house with only two people living in it. My siblings & I feel so lucky that we met this couple & their children.
This vlog is a w e s o m e!! Your information (and look 😉) continually blows me away! I sense a marriage proposal in the pipeline (from me)! 😂. Can't thank you enough, Miss Pea. You are great and very helpful with your invaluable insight, always! You're a Filipina treasure. Till next time. 😎
The more that you describe the benefits and the like, the more that it sounds like the working conditions (and the pay scheme) that you get in Mexico, especially the 13th month pay. In general, most employers pay the 13th month a minimum of 2-3 weeks prior to Christmas.
Excellent info! You covered so much in a friendly and comprehensive way, even covering the pitfalls for both maid and employer. I live in the UAE (Abu Dhabi) right now but plan on moving to the Philippines in the future. Thanks Pea for covering this and so many more important topics.
I am sure that thousands have already said this. Your videos are incredibly informative Pea, and you sense of humour is amazing as well. You are a delight. Thank you Pea.
Ben Franklin one of the founders my country said, let all your servants be homely otherwise after the first time you sleep with your maid your house will never be cleaned properly again.
As a single man, she would not have massive amounts to do, but she would be worth her weight in gold. She needs to be treated like a family member and gets to eat whatever she wants and gets her own proper bedroom, not sleeping in the lounge or kitchen
Wow, what an incredibly useful video - thank you so much! I thought the only way I could live in the Philippines would be to find a girlfriend to help me, with all the potential emotional issues that might bring! I hadn't even considered employing a housekeeper because in the UK only rich people can afford that. One thing that appeals to me is the sheer diversity of jobs they can do, particularly standing in line to pay bills (I find it hard to believe that you can't pay utility bills online). Another is that having her around will be great company - it would be great if she could play games with me, like chess. Being able to translate would be great - though I suspect many Filipinas willing to be maids would have very poor English? I am imagining that future cat fight between housekeeper and girlfriend! The advice about being firm with the maid, e.g. about time keeping, relatives stopping by unannounced and putting leftovers away is really helpful. I am a really trusting sort of person so the advice about possible theft is well received. Do people normally pay monthly or weekly? You look so sexy in that maid outfit!! It's great that you're improving your technique, earlier videos were very jerky because of editing, but I love your current smooth self confident style. What's the tax situation about hiring a Filipina, and does the employer have to contribute towards a pension? Finally, I promise not to ask you to stand in line after we get married! :)
There’s a small contribution for her social security, etc, but she can make the payments for you (just keep the receipts to show you paid). It only amounts to about 800 pesos per month
You need to sell your services for people moving to the Philippines. To help people get settled in. You're full of so much knowledge. Great personality and looks to boot.
Lovely video Ms Pea. Live in domestic help has been a pretty crazy adventure for the past ten years. Especially since my own lovely Filipina wife is a country girl from very humble beginnings and her only experience with upper middle class living was OFW employment. And, once our house was built and our two kids were big enough to run around I could tell that she was having a difficult time dealing with the new standard of living I brought with me. So when she starts to get depressed about it, I've often begged her to 'for heaven's sake just Hire somebody & I don't care how much it costs" So sometimes she does. But some of her attempts to hire help have been pretty scary. Like the time she hired a 16 year old from up in the mountainside who's mother came down every week to collect her pay! Or the Fourteen year old with no bra & bubble butt that couldn't be trusted around any loose cash or change much-less the bottles of toiletries & ointments ect.... OMG what could my lovely Asawa possibly have been thinking!! I could've gotten arrested or something! Especially when the last one mooched (oops! Borrowed) so much 'Advance' that she was actually working as an indentured servant for 'Free' for over Nine Weeks,,,, Maybe it's my fault for overestimating my Asawa's sophistication. After all,, she's just a High School grad from humble Nipa beginnings, with sandpaper hands from a life of doing what I'm trying to get her to hire Somebody Else to do so she wont Have to any more.
Oh my! Well your heart was in the right place, but it sounds like she wasn’t hiring the best help 😂 An older, more mature woman would be a much better choice!
As a filipina with foreigner i wont hire a househelper as long my husband dont complain why the house is messy ,have kids and husband to look after … we are 7 siblings but my mother can still handle everything in our house tidy
Hi miss Pea, this vid reminds me of one of your earlier vids about poverty in the philipines. In that one, you interviewed a young woman who was being paid $80 a month for 18 hour days with one day off per week. I've occasionally thought of her since and wonder how she's doing and what's happened to her. If you could revisit her and some of the others in that episode I'd appreciate it. I do understand that it might be difficult to find some of them again, especially after the typhoon. Love your channel, keep up the good work.
Most Filipinas in Spain are housekeepers, that includes my wife as well due to her difficulty to manage the Spanish language. I am proud to tell you that i defended her rights face to face with her lady boss which is in fact my boss as well. So, i asked my boss if she new someone who needed a housekeeper and at same time teaching English to their kids: She said why English? I said because my wife is Filipina and i only speak in English with her: She said Wow! I have been looking for a Filipina for me since a long time and never found one! Then She said: My house keeper just got married and i guess she is going to leave me alone: So it happened not long after and she asked me for an interview with my wife! And i took her there shortly after! All fine till the time she told my wife: Well, you know we cannot pay those salaries of Madrid! Then i said: What? Well you know the social security is so expensive and blablabla: So i said: Look it¡s up to you, i am not begging you for a job for her, but she will only work for you if you pay her respecting the law and only in that condition, plus that includes 5 days working per wee, 2 days off and 14 salaries per year meaning that, paid holidays, plus extra holiday salary pay and Christas extra month pay: If you respect that, she will work for you, but if not, she will work somewhere else! And after sweating quite a lot she said ok, deal!!! I said ok, you can pay her more but never less that that!!! Now her little daughter is already telling my wife that she is the one speaking better English at her class, reason enough for her father and mother to feel proud of them.
My advice is that when choosing a person to be your maid try to find a lady with children and isn’t a “pretty young girl”. Single moms need the income more than anyone and are usually more dependable. Also, if you can get references from other expats definitely do. Don’t get references from other Filipinos because they will almost always give rave reviews lol And last but not least older ladies are a very good choice because they probably have experience being a maid, aren’t going to miss work because of boyfriends, and aren’t as tempting in ways you should avoid lol (boinking)
I was shocked to see a helper when I was in philippines. But they actually do like there jobs as they love the family they work for . Coming from Australia it was a shock but it does help them . The one helper I saw looked like she was 12 . She would just sit in kitchen waiting for the lady of the house to ask her to do something. But who are we to question it . Great video pea :)
@@TheFilipinaPea when you come from nothing and a family helps you with a job it's a blessing plus fillipino ladies look younger so she could have been in her 20 s . Don't worry I don't judge:)
There are a lot of things that look weird from a Western perspective. When I worked in Mexico, every supermarket had a group of boys aged 10-15 who wore a white shirt and tie at the checkout counter. When your order was rung up, they would bag your order and carry it out to your car. It was uncomfortable at first having a kid carry my groceries when I could have done it by myself. However, he needed the pesos more than I did.
My filipina 20 year old girlfriend is a housekeeper. And for me as a german I could not imagine that she has to work 7 days a week without a day off and sometimes from early in the morning to late in the evening. She often tells me that she is sick of her work and seems like a burned out worker. But she has to work because she is supplying her poor family with the money. I hope I can free her from this kind of living.
Pea, I really appreciate your work and all that u do. You look good with and without makeup... And I admire the real hair. Thank u and keep up the good work.
Stand in line to pay a bill! To a Westerner, that's pretty funny. I have found that my remote employees in the Phils (generally speaking) are very conscientious and honest. One thing Pea didn't mention is to NEVER be late on payments. Another thing is that I pay my employees $20 on their and their children's birthdays. Goodwill and respect go a long long way.
I saw a documentary a few years ago about the scores of Filipinas who go overseas to be maids in different countries. Some of these women are subjected to horrible abuses. It can be a really terrible situation when they're far from home and perhaps don't have the legal rights in some countries that they would in others. We can only hope that there is an agency or organisation that can monitor these women and make sure they're not being mistreated.
I completely understand what you are saying. The ladies that take jobs in places like Dubai, and other muslim countries, don’t know what they are getting into. It seems that the first thing those employers always do is take the passport. Horrible things are happening to these ladies and I really hope someone with more resources than I have creates some sort of organisation to help them.
When I was a kid I watched my Mom run around doing everything, cooking, cleaning chauffeur, for a husband and four sons. Right then and there I decide when I grow up I want one of those!
I have watched a few of your video, your funny and make things seem easy... You have your own style... keep up the good work... your info is easy to understand.
I would give my housekeeper every Sunday off, and at least every other Saturday off. People need their own time to enjoy themselves and be able to go somewhere and do something.
@@TheFilipinaPea You mentioned a Christmas bonus, I was going to mention that too. You could do it based on performance and have a monthly review where you talk with your maid about her performance. If she does good work every month she gets top rating, have a list like you mentioned and rate each task a percentage of 100 percent. So then her bonus is up to her. Some tasks rated higher percentage than others. Like being their on time and staying all work day for 30 days might be worth 10 percent, but each day she misses is worth so much of that, since it's the most important. If they need to do something personal it won't be counted against them but must be agreed on ahead of time. I would provide food, room and board, and a phone. A condition of the phone is, they have to answer if I call, but I wouldn't call normally unless something important came up. There is different kinds of bonuses. Everything doesn't have to be monetized. Lets say they score over 90 percent in a given month, then maybe that changes a 2 day weekend into a 3 day weekend and that's a paid extra day off. They can pick that day, but it has to be agreed upon. There are 52 weeks in a year. Maybe if they do great for 6 months, you turn a weekend into a week off and they can use it however they want. I believe if it's a good job and they are happy, they won't need to steal and will not think they are rich and leave, because they will know it's hard to find an employer like that again.

Great info Pea! The Philippines is one of my top three retirement options. I plan on spending 6-12 months in the Philippines on a trial basis and will definitely need a house keeper. Will house keepers accept a 6-12 month contract? This video along with the video on what to do when you land at the airport have helped me the most...✨
Well, a domestic helper as she describes would have been a "housegirl" back in my time in the PI. What she says is absolutely true. Simply indispensible. For a foreigner or foreigner family especially true.
Pea - you are one amazing person. Common sense! Check. I loved the line, don't turn here into your girl friend. It made no sense until you mentioned that standing in line to pay bills was regarded as what I call scut work. Terrible to do but essential. Great information and great suggestion to improve my life there.
I had the same housekeeper for 7 years in Vietnam, then she moved to Thailand with us for 4 more years. She made our living so easy. Every thing Pea said - she ran the house and took good care of us. Oh yeah, she even helped us find houses when we moved to a new city - priceless. I can't recommend enough getting a good housekeeper. Finding a good maid is the highest priority, top of my list, #1 and any other way I can express how important it will be when I come to the Philippines.
In the early 80's the pay for maids was P100 monthly in my provincial San Pablo City home. I felt kind of weird when she had the house full of friends and there really wasn't much for her to do so I fired her after one day but paid her P50 which seemed to make her happy.
I kinda understand the other side of that situation. Because my experience dating a Filipina happened for a couple years in my early 20's when I was in the Navy in Japan. My girlfriend was a house helper there. So I know what they go through. I figure when I retire I'll probably go to the Philippines and hire a house helper and a driver. I'll give them Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays off and I'll pay them well. Because I'm 43 years old now, but I really won't feel right dating a Filipina when I'm in my 60's. By the way, your legs look really good in this video Pea.
My maid eats with me, we have the same food and her room is bigger than mine, I can be away knowing my dogs are fed, the house clean, run errands and basically make my life easier.
This was a very interesting video to watch for so many reasons. The topic of maids is a simmering one, whether it's Filipino maids or Kenyan maids. Believe it or not, there are a lot of similarities between the two. But first, let me just say that your skin tone, especially on your legs, looks absolutely marvelous. I just love that tone of brown. Second, I find it very amusing when you squint your nose when describing something that's not good. Anyway, back to maids. I'm ashamed to admit that I realized just how much work Kenyan maids did when I came to America. When you're in Kenya you just take them for granted. The hours are long and the work is menial. And yes, some Kenyan maids have ended up in the Middle East (like their Filipino counterparts), and many have returned with all kinds of horror stories. The authorities have began to crack down on the recruiting agencies. But a lot more needs to be done to protect them from abuse.. Finally, most maids in places like Kenya and the Philippines would much rather work for Americans than their own kind.
I'm from Brazil. Middle class up we're used having maids. I would say that twice a week is the new norm. It makes life much better. With time they become family really. Major advantages are: having more free time if you work hard as I do, help you some shopping, cleaner homes / clothes and way better and healthier food. Plus it's someone to talk, learn from and keep in touch with reality. My kids nanny is still working with us after 25 years.

maid in the Philippines is a personal assistant.

Where did you pick up Americian things like 'workin" instead of working, and "ya?"
I love the idea of "trailer made" clothes
Very good advice indeed - no boinking!!! 😂
@@TheFilipinaPea okay, no boinking .... it might make you fall in love for the wrong reasons
"Don't boink your house girl"! 😂
Never employ one that will tempt you.
While a housemaid with benefits sounds great on the face of it it will blowup in your face at some point!
Many Filipino girlfriends won't let you have a young housemaid they will insist you employ an older one (often a relative (Tiya))
@@ziggarillo sorry fat finger spelling. I meant tailor made. At that time it was cheap.
Thanks Pea for being really honest and up front on how to pay a maid the correct way
A note of caution: try to avoid hiring a housekeeper from your sweetheart's close family.
Well thought out advice Rick-thank you.
I had a house cleaner that came 3 times a week. She kept bring her daughters to help until I promoted her from head housekeeper to mommy-in-law.
LOL
A very useful skill here, yes 😂👍

My approach is to treat her with the same degree of respect and loyalty she displays in her job. if i had seen your videos earlier in my life, i would have moved to the Philippines.
Meddling - I mean, um, advising - is fun though, isn’t it? 😂👍👍
@@TheFilipinaPea She is great fun , but listening to her complicated love life is very confusing 😆
Win-win-win 👍👍👍
Thank you. You are a great teacher.
Exactly, Dr! People here have no clue how to budget, save, or do any planning, and giving them too much just causes damage all around 👍
You had a very wise Commander, that is how you lead and I bet he gained a lot more respect from you for doing so..
@@LootGoblin4510 yes he did. He was also the same guy that gave me the official dressing down after I got into a fight with several sailors that came into our. @@DrDlane Yes, but most Filipinas are eager to learn personal finance and if you discuss finances, they catch on quickly. I would train our BPO employees when they came to Chicago and hey were always curious as to how personal and business finances worked.

LOL....
You gave her a chance, and rubbed away all her rough edges - good on you 👍❤️
It’s so great when they’re like family 👍❤️
What's the difference between a housekeeper and a maid? Aren't they different words for the same thing?
@@michaelfreemantle4295 Yes, you’re right, but it seems like housekeeper is the preferred word now. For me though, especially after this long, she is my family even though I pay her a monthly wage.
They still leave especially if they want future
The one thing you forgot to mention, is to avoid hiring a Facebook addict. Most of my Pinay friends are housekeepers, and they are chatting with me all day on FB, instead of working, lol. I think rules about house guests are very important, because Westerners are more private, and less trusting of strangers. Filipino culture is very open, social, etc ... they often don't vet people, so the person they invite over could be a thief, rude, or something like that.
I do my own laundry, if I hired a housekeeper I would not need her to do too much work. I think
"translation" would be very helpful. For me someone trustworthy would be very important, and someone who could understand my culture, without being offended by it. I have found that many Pinay's have trouble understanding other cultures have different traditions. Based on my Pinay friends, I could see it would be a positive experience with some, but with others it would be difficult.
Just watched this gem of a video again. And then seen a couple comments from a couple years ago from me. My how time flies!
It sure does fly! 😳👍👍
Great vlog FP! I was surprised when my Filipina wife told me her family had a live in maid who did cooking, cleaning, etc. and lived with them. She actually taught my wife how to cook and was an excellent cook. Here in the U.S. only the wealthy have live in maids. Thanks!
It’s very common here, and WORTH it! 👍😊
Sound advice as always. Although I'm sad that people mistreat their staff. Some people are so cruel. Great vids Pea!
Thanks Robbie, and yes it’s very sad 😔
Pea you were indeed Made in the Philippines and may I say your parents did an amazing job. Thank you for another awesome video that again gives foreigners so much info re living in and enjoying their time in PI. The insight you give is truly informative and helpful to westerners who want to get their feet wet in Filipino culture and experiences. God bless.
Thanks Ian 👍❤️
Ms Pea...I lived in the PI for 10 years and we had a cook and a house maid and they grew up with me..My parents wanted to bring them back to America with us, but it was a complicated endeavor...they were the greatest two girls you ever wanted to meet....
I've been trying to find a housekeeper for months and I appreciate the information you shared in your video
Way cheaper then I thought. I'd pay that every month just to avoid waiting in line in the hot sun for 2 hours to pay bills. You are a very smart young lady that is full of great info and explain things great. Thanks for all you do to help everyone.
Exactly! They pay for themselves many times over 👍
Rather than stand in line every month is it not possible to pay months in advance and only show up when the advance was exhausted?
As a party of one when I arrive in the Philippines (someday I hope); I hadn't even considered what you propose in this video. However, now it's food-for-thought. Thanks Pea.
Give it serious consideration, Tom - she’ll pay for herself 👍
Pea - you are truly a treat and great for many ideas and laughs. You in a maid costume was certain to get men to watch - and what you say is invaluable to those interested in moving to the Philippines.

I’d like to help shed light on the problem by doing a video (or series of videos) on the situation, and I’m looking for former OFW’s who would discuss it in an interview (it can be a video interview, and the person I’m interviewing can hide their identity or even sit in the dark!)
Do you know anyone that might be willing???

Thanks for sharing that info, Capt Charles 👍😊
When I was in the Philippines. I was going to a local church. And found lady’s there. Also, found working Students too. Paid between P4k-P5k a mth ( $95-$100). With free room and board..I had asked the Bishop/Pastor/Minister for recommendations.
It also helps having a local to keep u safe when u are out and also to answer the door for you,etc.. One of the things I did there was help foreigners understand the do’s and don’t. The local government agency I was with would refer me to these Foreigners. Pea gives a lot of good information here..
That's a good idea, probably won't nothing come up missing either that way.
Yes, a local pastor would probably have some great recommendations 👍

Wow.
I promise it’s all true - you’ll see 😊
Was thinking exactly the same brother . Or , half days . One person can only be so much of a pig on the daily !
That's how you screw things up for other ex-pats. By giving more than the going wage.
@@mrbbkk very few things are as expensive as a wife...
That situation happens here, too 👍😊
I remember when my sister and I were kids my Lola had 2 maids where we live in Bicol.
Where in Bicol? My wife is from San Lorenzo Ruiz just outside of Daet

Wise strategy, Juan 👍😊
Truly enjoyed this topic. I actually never hired a maid before. But I have hired teachers to be a private tutor for my son since he was 3 yes old. And they have been amazing and caring to my son. Now he’s 5yrs old and does great in school.
If I ever did go to the Philippines to live , and have a maid, I would just love to have an honest, fair, trustworthy , mature, experienced beautiful inside out woman maid to take care of my basic needs and I would be very happy and treat her as good as she treats me 💯 % I’m not talking about serious dating or marriage, even though if the chemistry was great between us , I probably would treat her as good as a good husband would treat a good wife! ;)))

It didn't work well for Seinfeld!

Lovely video Ms Pea.
Live in domestic help has been a pretty crazy adventure for the past ten years.
Especially since my own lovely Filipina wife is a country girl from very humble beginnings and her only experience with upper middle class living was OFW employment.
And,
once our house was built and our two kids were big enough to run around I could tell that she was having a difficult time dealing with the new standard of living I brought with me.
So when she starts to get depressed about it, I've often begged her to 'for heaven's sake just Hire somebody & I don't care how much it costs"
So sometimes she does.
Borrowed) so much 'Advance' that she was actually working as an indentured servant for 'Free' for over Nine Weeks,,,,
Maybe it's my fault for overestimating my Asawa's sophistication.
After all,, she's just a High School grad from humble Nipa beginnings,
with sandpaper hands from a life of doing what I'm trying to get her to hire Somebody Else to do so she wont Have to any more.
Oh my! Well your heart was in the right place, but it sounds like she wasn’t hiring the best help 😂
An older, more mature woman would be a much better choice!

Good on you for standing up for your wife. A lot of men would just roll over, especially in the situation you were in. May God bless you both!
Beauty? Very wise and a great voice!!! Wowwww!😮❤🎉😊 Sound good when you sung that old Patti LaBelle song
I have to say that since finding this channel I've been thinking about moving to the Philippines.
Wow, then I hope you at least pay us a visit 👍
A more mature one will (hopefully) stay busy on her own 👍😊
@@TheFilipinaPea when you come from nothing and a family helps you with a job it's a blessing plus fillipino ladies look younger so she could have been in her 20 s . Don't worry I don't judge:)
The more mature ones are for families I would think….or if you have a jealous girlfriend 😊
@@EnigmazGuide yeah true but for me it was eye opener . But for a family to have helped very common :) in philippines 🇵🇭 😊
Pea,
I really appreciate your work and all that u do. You look good with and without makeup... And I admire the real hair. Thank u and keep up the good work.
Thanks Andrew 👍❤️
Dear Pea you are priceless
And thanks for preparing my prior to my arrival in September God bless

Stand in line to pay a bill! To a Westerner, that's pretty funny. I have found that my remote employees in the Phils (generally speaking) are very conscientious and honest. One thing Pea didn't mention is to NEVER be late on payments. Another thing is that I pay my employees $20 on their and their children's birthdays. Goodwill and respect go a long long way.
It sure does go a long way 👍❤️
I saw a documentary a few years ago about the scores of Filipinas who go overseas to be maids in different countries. Some of these women are subjected to horrible abuses. It can be a really terrible situation when they're far from home and perhaps don't have the legal rights in some countries that they would in others.
We can only hope that there is an agency or organisation that can monitor these women and make sure they're not being mistreated.
It sure can be horrible, yes 😳😔
I have seen a Singapore crime show where a Filipina killed her employer after years of phydical abuse.
@@prepperjonpnw6482 even in philippines there is horrible employers
yes i agree it makes me very angry to know this information, some kind of agency could stop this atrocity.
Sounds cheaper & better than a girlfriend 😁🌴👍
Indeed they are! They actually save you money 👍😊
@@TheFilipinaPea Hey Pea 👋
Will Filipinas be willing to work overseas in the UK? All expenses paid.
@@starfoxx3398 ha! Unlikely.
You’ll make a great employer, Jason 👍😊
@@jasonbourne1596 you put a lot thought into how you will toss nickels and dimes at a local, what a cheap prick.

Great info Pea! The Philippines is one of my top three retirement options. I plan on spending 6-12 months in the Philippines on a trial basis and will definitely need a house keeper. Will house keepers accept a 6-12 month contract? This video along with the video on what to do when you land at the airport have helped me the most...✨
Thanks Harold - I’m so glad to help 👍❤️
I lived there for 2 years. Lots of people want jobs. Especially now. Finding someone to work 6-12 months should be very easy to find.
You can hire me sir if you want🤗
Well, a domestic helper as she describes would have been a "housegirl" back in my time in the PI. What she says is absolutely true. Simply indispensible. For a foreigner or foreigner family especially true.
Incredible video. Your videos are really helping me prepare for my retirement in Cebu.
100 pesos per MONTH??? Oh my gosh! 😂😂😂
The exchange rate was probably about 25 PHP to 1 USD. Big difference to todays rate.
@M J in the 80's minimum wage was like 2 bucks, so it would be just a little low today, maybe 1,400 P today.?
Not to mention inflation has risen so much over the past 30-40 years, forcing the cost of living to rise significantly.
You’ll be a very popular boss, Daniel 👍❤️👍
@@TheFilipinaPea I second that, your legs are looking fine Miss Pea
Church and state. Never mix the two. Great videos! Binge watching.
Binge watchers have a special place in my heart 🤣❤️
Great video for guys looking for a HARD-WORKING MAID in THE PHILIPPINES 100%
👍👍👍❤️
My maid eats with me, we have the same food and her room is bigger than mine, I can be away knowing my dogs are fed, the house clean, run errands and basically make my life easier.
Exactly 👍👍👍
Got a maid in the Philippines; married her and then needed to hire another maid
Yes, working for a western employee is considered the best of the best 👍
I'm from Brazil.
Middle class up we're used having maids. I would say that twice a week is the new norm.
It makes life much better. With time they become family really.
Major advantages are: having more free time if you work hard as I do, help you some shopping, cleaner homes / clothes and way better and healthier food. Plus it's someone to talk, learn from and keep in touch with reality.
My kids nanny is still working with us after 25 years.
