    Trolls in the early game are no joke. And the Frost Troll on the way up to High Hrothgar has become a bit of a meme to Skyrim players. I think most of us remember our first time facing a troll at a low level like that.

The room was really difficult for my character to clear and my last autosave was like 20 minutes ago, so I left her there. I'm only at the part where you fought the troll, but if you didn't figure it out eventually, spells and shouts/powers are separate things. You can have both a spell and a shout/power equipped at one time, shouts/powers are right bumper by default. Also you should save more often! That way if something goes extra wrong you can just reload your save and not lose much progress

    • @wellingtonsmith4998
      @wellingtonsmith4998 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      to get the full Skyrim experience you MUST take Lydia with you, so glad you picked her, you're not the only one who accidentally shot Lydia and killed her 😥 . Faendal will be waiting for you back at his house in Riverwood should you need him. Remember, asking your follower to carry stuff is part of their job, also you can and should give your follower armor and weapons you find along the way, or you can give them your left-over armor that you have crafted. playing dress-up is fun, even if you're a Troll

      You can save your place randomly as often as you go, so you could've started your troll fight again from your last save place during the fight and bring Lydia back alive that way. It sucks to lose friends while playing Skyrim. I know this is your first time playing Skyrim. I started it over again and again because of a few quirky things I learned and how to make a living for myself without doing the main story since fighting dragons everywhere all the time sucks. You should do things easily if you need to aviod the same mistakes I encountered. Don't do the Dawnguard quest yet till you are powerful or a much higher level where you feel satisfied 😉. Fighting vampires are frustrating.

      I loved my first playthrough of Skyrim years ago, I love these! I recently started playing again with the DLC’s I’ve never played before. There’s console commands you can use on PC to make Skyrim the way you like it to, such as making followers essential (not die) or even mods that allow you to have multiple followers lol, I didn’t like choosing either

  • @Garrabutartulo1
    @Garrabutartulo1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +168

    It's really sad that Lidya died. Companions usually don't die while fighting, they just become "out of breath" for a while and then get back up, but if you accidentally hit them (like you did) they actually die.
    Sometimes it's hard to avoid doing it, but keep that in mind for your next companion.
    The dragon bones and scales are very heavy. They can be used to make armor, but you need to improve your blacksmithing a lot for that. They're expensive though, so you can sell them for now.
    You can save up for a house (you already can buy one in Whiterun) and store your shit there.
    I recently discovered your channel and I'm really enjoying these series. I wish I could experience Skyrim for the first time again.

    That troll battle was crazy, poor Lydia 😭. You don't want to mess with trolls in the early game, their health regeneration is absurd. BTW, never feel bad about reloading an older save if something happens like a follower dying. I tend to quicksave often for that exact reason because followers aren't supposed to die unless the player hits them, and hitting them by accident is pretty easy in the heat of battle

    It is so nice that you're into alchemy, it is a great way to learn about Skyrim's flora. The ingredients are spread across the map in really consistent and neat ways. Some fungi only grow on rotting logs, there are bugs that only show up a night and on it goes

    What a wonderful Skyrim video you made there. And how I believe you that all is new to you. Simply great and so well executed. I want to thank you for letting Lydia die. Not that I am happy at all that she is dead, but usually players will reload there. And it was your arrow that killed her. Most followers are "essential" which means they will get hurt and when hurt too much they will go to a crouching state for a while, but the killing blow has to come from you. But you let the death of Lydia happen and continued, you failed defeating the troll and continued. This adds so much drama to the game that would be lost with reloading. Thanks again. I was moved.

    Oh no lydiaaaaaaaa 😭😭 great episode, I recommend you to save money to buy a horse, you can spam the jump button with it to climb almost every rock. Also, at least for me. It is better to use one-handed weapons, so you can heal with one hand, and use the other one for Fighting, like you did with the dagger. Those scrolls that you asked about, you equip it like a weapon (if I'm not mistaken) and it throws a fire ball. And the things that you get from dragons (bones, and scales) are used to make armours and weapons but you need to be higher level. So, for now I recommend you to sell them, it gives good money. If you like to explore, it is not necessary to do the main quest, almost every npc have an interesting and fun quest to do. Much love from Argentina

      @@cj7011 this no longer works, this was patched 6 years ago. now iron daggers are the worst source of smithing xp in the game. the current best way is to pick up all smeltable dwarven clutter and make it into ingots, and then craft bows with them, as well as picking up all iron, silver and gold ore you find, as well as all gold ingots and using master transmute from anniversary edition, or transmute from the base game to turn all of it into gold ore, then smelt it all into gold ingots. you can then turn all those gold ingots into gold rings. those two combined will get you to 100 smithing without having to grind it specifically, as you can do this passively throughout your playthrough. this also doubles in as an enchanting method as you can the enchant all the gear you make, and an alteration method as all that transmuting does get you quite a few levels in that.

You can play on during a safe, it does not hold up the game. I play on keyboard only, i can make favorites weapons/shouts/powers and give them a number for quick mounting. The spell clairvoyance is very usefull to guide you into the right direction. Don't worry you will make new friends.

    The Dragon Bones & Scales are used in Smithing but have to be at lvl 100 Smithing Skill Perks to use them. It's worth getting to the point in any/every playthrough. But especially if you're an Archery Character/Build because a Dragonbone Bow is the strongest in the game (unenchanted).
    The best advice for this game, Save often! Just in case a Bug/Glitch causes problems or in case you make a mistake so can reload a save to hopefully not make it again:(

    You gotta pay the "troll" toll if you want to get that Dragon soul!
    Tips:
    -Trolls are weak to fire and stop regenerating health while burning (you were so close!)
    -That Unusual Gem can be appraised by a certain member of the Thieves Guild in Riften, it's one of 24 scattered around Skyrim
    -Rather than raise the dead, the Conjuration skill allows you to summon your own minions whenever you have enough magika, I find that much more reliable than raising the dead for a short duration, you can buy some spells from the College of Winterhold
    -Save often! Especially while outside on long treks!
    -You can't fast travel from indoors
    -Sell those dragon bones or buy a house to deposit them, they weigh a ton!

      @@LizXP PS: there are various sellers in skyrim and some only sellcertain types of goods, so a fisher will sell you food ingredients and an alchemist will sell you ingredients and potions etc. To sell odd things you either go to general stores or purchase a perk in the speech skill tree although, the second path may make you deviate from the playstyle you originally want so it's up to you. Considering how you use skill points in the game it might seem a little boring so I recommend using general stores. The little Klepto in me advises you to hire the carriage in front of Whiterun stables and taking a trip to Riften or trek it cross country and discover the place :)

    So, neat trick for if you ever accidentally aggro something tough again, you can hide in water. If you can find water deep enough to go underneath, none of the enemies in the game can actually swim, so they will not follow you. They will stand at the edge of the river, but it lets you attack freely by moving between water shallow enough to shoot from, and then ducking back into the "cover" of deeper water. Also, trolls auto-regenerate health every second unless they are on actively fire. That's why you thought you were healing it. Trolls, and giants are the toughest things you're going to fight in the early game, so I'd steer clear until you have a better grasp of how strong you are.

It is so you can have a power or shout equipped and you have have both your hands free to equip magic or weapons. There's also a setting, I think, to change if your followers can die. Otherwise they die left and right, unfortunately. I thought they had changed that in some of the updated versions of the game.

    It's best to specialize in a few skills, rather than trying to use them all. For example, stick to one-handed or two-handed, but not both. Or for magic-users, specialize in 2 or 3 schools of magic; not all 5. Same for armors; stick with all heavy or all light armor pieces.

    Liz, glad you're following the story. Feel free to do what you want and there truly are 1000 different things to find in exploration, but it's more satisfying for me to watch you play 1 quest at a time.
    Helpful hint: when you have a follower that can train you in something, you can train with them and then get into their menu and get your money back. A follower will effectively train you for free.
    Dragon bones are good to sell early. They are heavy and get you good money. If you build your smithing skill to 100, you can use them to build Dragon armor.
    Keep having fun. Watching you makes me want to get back into Skyrim for the 80th time. 😀
    And yes, trolls suck. They regenerate health so you have to be strong enough to take them on quickly.
