That large "ice monster" was a Frost Atronach and was actually summoned by one of the Draugr chasing you. Meaning that if you could defeat the summoner, the Atronach will vanish (same as taking out a necromancer). There also exist certain spells tailored to deal with summoned Atronachs specifically.
When exploring dark places, here are some spell ideas that can make things easier:
    - "Candlelight": Produces a visible hovering light around you, to see and be seen.
    - "Detect Life": Highlights nearby living things; anything shown in red is probably hostile.
And as a general strategy, if you panic the best direction to escape is _not forwards_ because you might alert even more enemies to your presence. But it's okay -- we all do that sometimes! (One of my characters lost Lydia in this very dungeon, and in fact not far from where you died)
I wouldn't worry about Sofie making it to Whiterun safely -- Aventus himself came to Windhelm from Riften which is about the same distance away.
16:40 - Sounded like Angrenor Once-Honored just kicked the bucket.
(Rumor has it he was old friends with the Aretino family....)
23:30 - _The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind_ also included the island of Solstheim (and also as DLC!) where it showed you a bit of Skyrim's atmosphere. Here, things are reversed: the eruption of Morrowind's Red Mountain buried about half the island in layers of volcanic ash, showing you a bit of Morrowind's atmosphere instead!
23:50 - If an NPC dies that you were on good terms with, sometimes you will receive a "Letter of Inheritance" with 90G (100G minus tax) attached to it. What you did to deserve this varies by NPC: maybe you completed a sidequest or favor for them, or maybe you were the only person to give them a kindness of 1G....
24:10 - There are ten "Treasure Maps" throughout Skyrim (plus one on Solstheim), and you found that one in the ruined Riverside Shack on your route to Kynesgrove. If you can recognize what's drawn on the map (hint: that one's near a major city somewhere), you can find hidden treasure exactly where the map says to look!
27:30 - Any time you get to choose between "(Persuade)" and "(Intimidate)", whether or not this succeeds actually varies based on your Speech level. But in most cases yes you can just pay gold (aka. "Bribe") to get the person's help. Captain Gjalund normally charges 250G for passage to Solstheim (hence the option saying "double your usual rate").
56:20 - When inspecting a container (chest, barrel, etc), anything that might be considered stealing will be highlighted _red._ Any item shown in white is safe to take -- but usually, all items in a container will be one or the other.

16:31 (as XENA exited the inn) The death scream of Angrenor Once-Honored. No idea why he died. Might be that he spawned at the same coordinates as another person. Then the game solves that by moving one of them 1000 ft up in the air...

Windhelm is bugged and sometimes kills off characters. He is not the only one who can die. Torbjorn Shatter-Shield and Torsten Cruel-Sea have died for me but I was able to save them by reloading a save. What I found out was their bodies were stuck under the city where the graveyard is and there is an exploit to get under there. The game must've spawned them and they died by falling there.
I found their bodies by using detect dead spell. My save before that had them alive so I went back and every time I am in the city I use detect dead to make sure nobody has died.
It's just a bug. These characters have no scripted deaths so you can keep them alive most of the time.

Solatheim is an island that is part of Morrowind but also near Skyrim. It first appeared as the site of a DLC in Elder Scrolls 3. For those of us old guys who have been playing ES games that long, seeing Solstheim again and hearing the ES3 music again was quite awesome.

    • @fragalot
      @fragalot ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @fragalot
      @fragalot ปีที่แล้ว

@@Controlled_Insanity_003 I don't think so. It seems Red Mountain started erupting since long before TES3. I do recall a DLC for TES3 that added Solatheim, but I never got that deep into TES3.
The lore about Solatheim is it used to be apart of Skyrim, and they gave it to Morrowind to help the Elves recover after Red Mountain blew up. IDK how long ago that event was, and I don't think it was a plot in any of the TES games since it seems Red Mountain was always perpetually erupting in all the TES games.
IDK if it is erupting in ESO, considering that MMO time period is about thousand+ years in the past from Skyrim. I'm sure the TES wiki can explain it better. I keep remembering exploring Red Mountain but I cant remember if it was in ESO or TES3, likely TES3.

@@Controlled_Insanity_003 So i did a little Wiki Reading. ESO takes place in the 2nd Era, though i also saw it took place in the 3rd era... but i don't buy that. A handy tip that is easy to miss: If you hit X while looking at a quest in the quest list it will show you where it is located on the map. It will occasionally give you trouble if it's related to Solstheim.

    • @volehunter
      @volehunter ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, some quest use random locations, and traveling to solstheim will add solsthiem locations to the random locations possible. This makes it hard to find your location marker since you have two maps now. So as said above, if you can’t find a quest marker, try traveling to solsthiem to see if shows up.

Yes these areas are a step up in difficulty and will take you about 2 or 3 sessions, but you can turn down your skill level. I started this @ Level 17 on the lowest level and when we returned to the mainland we were in the low 20's and reset the skill to Adept Plus check back to the Bee and Barb Inn in Riften where you can employ a good follower (No spoiler) who is both a good fighter and like Lydia can be auto levelled up high.
Tip do gain /practice these spells 1: Clairvoyance? Sp? 2: the 2 lighting spells as you'll be shortly coming up on the Black Books sections where it's an initially difficult puzzle to work out but the reward is 100% on your skill set OK? There are 6 as far as I know on Solstheim they act like the "Stones" in the main world
And to fast travel to and from Skyrim look for the fancy pointer on the world map which only shows up when you've visited Solstheim for the first time.
Bonus tip if you are getting overloaded on the inventory in Solstheim why not deposit your surplus items in an Urn. Later on in the thread you should be able to get a decent home @Raven Rock... Took me several sessions, no spoiler.

I never thought to store things inside the urns because I was afraid I'd lose the things I stored later on but if I stored things in chests in homes I own, I don't lose them. ❄ Some info (no spoilers!):
    - Once you made the trip to Solstheim, you no longer need to use the ship for travel. On the maps in a corner you can find an arrow, which allowes you to switch between Solstheim and Skyrim and use fast travel for either place that way.
    - Both Solstheim and the Dawnguard are DLC content and somewhat harder than the base game. You can do them whenever, just saying this, so you can be prepared.
    - I recommend using some proper saves, thus having more then one save at a time. The save files can get corrupted! It may not happen at all to you, but being on the safe side never hurt anybody.
That said, I'm loving the playthrough❣ Also, if you'd like to know, why there was a sudden fiery explosion in the mine, I'd provide the info. If not, I hope nobody will spoil it for you. Have fun with this beast of a game!

6:00 Heimskr will never stop preaching the word of Talos. Because he is RIGHT! LISTEN TO HIM AND HEED HIS WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Talos the mighty! Talos the unerring! Talos the unassailable! To you we give praise! We are but maggots, writhing in the filth of our own corruption! While you have ascended from the dung of mortality, and now walk among the stars! But you were once man! Aye! And as man, you said, “Let me show you the power of Talos Stormcrown, born of the North, where my breath is long winter. I breathe now, in royalty, and reshape this land which is mine. I do this for you, Red Legions, for I love you.”
Aye, love. Love! Even as man, great Talos cherished us. For he saw in us, in each of us, the future of Skyrim! The future of Tamriel! And there it is, friends! The ugly truth!
We are the children of man! Talos is the true god of man! Ascended from flesh, to rule the realm of spirit! The very idea is inconceivable to our Elven overlords! Sharing the heavens with us? With man? Ha! They can barely tolerate our presence on earth! Today, they take away your faith. But what of tomorrow? What then? Do the elves take your homes? Your businesses? Your children? Your very lives?
And what does the Empire do? Nothing! Nay, worse than nothing! The Imperial machine enforces the will of the Thalmor! Against its own people! So rise up! Rise up, children of the Empire! Rise up, Stormcloaks! Embrace the word of mighty Talos, he who is both man and Divine! For we are the children of man! And we shall inherit both the heavens and the earth! And we, not the Elves or their toadies, will rule Skyrim! Forever! Terrible and powerful Talos! We, your unworthy servants, give praise! For only through your grace and benevolence may we truly reach enlightenment! And deserve our praise you do, for we are one! Ere you ascended and the Eight became Nine, you walked among us, great Talos, not as god, but as man! Trust in me, Whiterun! Trust in the words of Heimskr! For I am the chosen of Talos!
I alone have been anointed by the Ninth to spread his holy word!

The "ICE Monster" was actually a Golem that the Dragur Scourge Summoned with a spell. You can do that too as you rank up your spells to at least the ""Expert" level of Conjouration. The problem there, is that on Solthsteim, the enemies are at a higher level generally; as the Dragonborn DLC was the last and latest addition to Skyrim... The Dragur Scourge is amongst the top level Dragur that you can Encounter. There also exist much stronger Dragons in select spots; be forewarned.
Also, one thing I thought of that you've seen early on; is the Carriage that you found going to Whiterun. You can pay them Gold to go and quickly "Discover" all of the major towns, FYI; such as Riften or Solitude, etc; as opposed to needing to travel to all of them on foot; although you still can if you wish to; know that the option is there! :)
Also, the general goods merchant in Windhelm is Nyrane (spelling) in the market near the enchanting table... You pretty much walked past her around 19:40 ...
*** SPECIAL ADVICE FROM A MUSIC PRODUCER ***
ALSO a Streaming tidbit that I didn''t notice until this Video: Your Reverb "Room Size" is too small. It's not terrible, but it slightly sounds like your speaking in a Bathroom or through a Paper Towel tube... I'm pretty sure that's not your desired recording voice. If I were you, I'd do some test vocal recordings and adjust the "Size" or "Room Size" of your Reverb settings and re-test the settings, maybe the "Pre-Delay" is a little bit high as well, so with that you get that delayed "Reverb Tail" effect. I know your not going for a perfect recording voice per-se; but I can aid in your QA a bit as you go along with it.

Conjure Frost Atronach is an Adept level conjuration spell. But it can actually be cast at any skill level, as long as you can get your hands on a tome and have the magicka pool to cast it.

Liz I know you don't like being told what to do, but please do not rely solely on quick saves. Skyrim is know for bugging out and if you only have a quick save,
your entire play through might be lost. So remember to use hard saves regularly to avoid that happening. It's been a few years since I last played Skyrim, but I do
remember problems with going trough doors (load screen between "cells") where you might go into a different cell (like a house or a tomb) but not being
able to get back out. Always make a new hard save before going trough a load screen and a new one after. With a two separate hard saves you can load a previous save
and skip going into that cell. With only a quick save you have no fail safe or back up.

I don't know why so many doors in Windhelm were locked, though it rarely happens to me too. Might be a glitch. I do know the door to Aventus Arentino's house is always locked. Remember him? The boy the other NPCs said is performing the black sacrament to summon the dark brotherhood? Doing stuff like that, I suppose it's no wonder he locks the door.
Good luck to you, Liz, in your next episode.

You should wait to join empire or stormcloaks til you run out of other things to do, because some of the missions kill people and destroy locations permanently, and it makes the rest of your playthrough really tragic if you can't get to places or talk to the killed people to finish quests. some places are always locked, like aventis, you have to pick the lock to get in. other places that stay locked may be waiting for you to start a certain mission. ❄ I love the caption for the mine, ravenrock mistake, i love watching your videos, before it even starts i'm looking for the thumbs up, cause i know i'm bout to be entertained. thank you for sharing, love your laugh by the way, it's just pure and joyous! hope you have an amazing day!

Ice: Mike Canada, yes stick to the main game for now. You are playing against enemies and foes that are levelled up more than you and will quickly kill you. Also, you are wearing no armour. You travel on the ship the first time you go to the Island. Check you map to the left of Ravenrock and from there you will be able to fast travel back to Windhelm. Similarly, look on your map of Skyrim west of Windhelm and you fast travel back to the Island. Crouch when you pick locks to houses or steal, if you are hidden and successful you will not get caught by the guards the perk points will increase, save the game first just in case. Good luck.

That island is very dangerous having many tough enemies. If you stay I recommend sneaking everywhere until you level up some more. It will give you the edge you’ll need.
    *TIP*
Some caves, mines or dungeons have built up gases in them that are flammable. If you see ahead of you a moving blur, that’s it. It can be ignited from a distance to dissipate it. It can also be lit accidentally by walking in to it with your flame spell ready.
Also, what killed you at the end was a soul gem trap casting lightning at you.

Ohh boy, without giving any spoilers, you may want to let your character get stronger and better equipped before you do Solstheim, it is a very challenging area! But it is an excellent storyline once you do get to it. The ICE elemental creature gets conjured by the Draugr Wights, which are a pretty strong Draugr who can use magic. They are no joke for someone of your level. Remember that cold-based attacks also drain your stamina, leaving you unable to do power attacks or run fast. So glad you adopted Sofie, her story is quite the tear-jerker. Still enjoying every playthrough, you are doing a great job!🤩

Don't listen to nay-sayers telling you Solstheim is too hard. I may be, but, if so, you'll figure it out. Have fun and explore wherever you want. Come fire or ICE, carry on! As others have mentioned, when you encounter enemies, it's better to retreat while handling them one at a time, if possible, rather than charging further into the dungeon where more enemies undoubtedly await! Although, I have just run through dungeons without engaging most of the enemies. Usually, only some of them will follow you. If you go far enough fast enough, you may get away with it. Of course, you forfeit a lot of loot that way.

Regions in Skyrim have a min. level and then scale up with the player (up to a certain point) but they won't scale down. Solstheim is starting at level 30 but one is WELL advised to have a bit more than that, good equipment and the main damage-dealing and -avoidance skills "perked". If not ... ouch. If you're a member of the thieve's guild, you get a special dialogue with the blacksmith and a quest that will ultimately lead to a different kind of thief armor (on steroids) and an item worth 5k so I usually do this at low level - you really have to know how to move there without a fight because once they engage you ... RIP. Solsteim can be a tough place, even for higher level characters.

  • @DarkKnightBatman420

Petty items like causes undead level 3 and under to flee are the perfect type to break over an enchanting table. The skill is learned, not its effectiveness. From there you can turn your ordinary weapons into enchanted weapons. I'd recommend you do so. Making a few unique bows or swords can be fun. You can also make some excellent rings or such, such as rings of regenerative or offensive abilities.
Don't forget to poison a weapon occasionally. It's one use, but it helps manage inventory and makes you more dangerous for a moment. Frostbite venom is poison. Ravage health is an alchemy effect that creates poison. You should stop by an alchemy table and mix a few items with unknowns with each other. Some will disappear, but learning new effects is worth it. ❄

Ice Ice Baby: You should not be going to solsteim until level 20 because it is tough. Noted by the creators. The compass at the top of your screen tells you the direction of your quest providing you have highlighted it. Solsteim quests will not appear on your Skyrim map. You can fast travel to Skyrim by the Solsteim map instead of using the ship and its free and vice verse. On the Skyrim map Solsteim will appear east of Windhelm docks. Both have a big arrow. Solsteim is full of new things from armour, encounters and so on but no horses for fast travel or to buy.
