I still revisit this vlog once I need to return to basics, that is writing my thesis.
Doing this morning routine since the second week of my PhD journey! Absolutely inspiring and motivating, Tara. Many thanks.

Thank you very much for all these blogs. I always had a hard time finding useful material in TH-cam explaining PhD work backed with scientific evidence. You are an inspiration to many students like me. Lots of respect and love from Houston.

I am more and more amazed with your vlog. I use the rules you described in my life (only difference - I have to wake up at 5 am because I start my job before 7 am, but I prefer to work at evenings). I am only sorry that I don't have such an honest and friendly dean. Best wishes!

Another fantastic Vlog Tara! This is excellent advice and I am certainly going to try this from tonight. (Only problem is, I work an hour's drive away from where we live, so it means getting up VERY early - LOL, but as you said our studies are definitely worth that extra effort we put into them :O) )
Thank you once again Tara and I look forward to your next Vlog!

+Bernadine De Beaux You are so wise, Bernadine. And you are right - the commute adds a whole series of challenges. I've always lived 5 minutes walk or drive from where I work. So I've been able to claim some time back in my life. But let's think through some strategies for you - and the commute. On it :). You remain the best :) Txxx

The reason this was easy for me is because I hate email 😂 it makes me nauseous. I love writing. I could never handle a position like yours with high pressure and urgent emails constantly, so I learnt to give myself 20mins a day for my regular job where I reply to what’s there and then metaphorically set my phone on fire.
I’d like to physically set it on fire, too. The texts and calls can’t always be ignored because I keep notes on my phone when I’m away from the comp, and thus have to access them. I know... ‘take a paper notebook’. Yeah no... not practical. I can handle this level of intrusion. No more, but happy here.

+Gantorarto I'm lucky mate - don't need a huge amount of sleep. But I take it when I need it. But sleep really matters. Great PhDs are based on great sleep as well! Txxx

+Daria Tikhonova Gorgeous one - don't. I wouldn't recommend that for anyone :) But you don't need it. I'm in jobs that occupy the working day, so I either give up - or I dig in and get up a wee bit earlier. You just give me THIRTY MINUTES. That's enough :) Promise! Hang in there. You are FABULOUS :) Txxx
