Mine got too hot & turned off at a Tesla station today. I switched to my A2Z & it worked fine. 2nd time that’s happened. Happens again & the Lectron is going back. Great videos as always Ben! Kansas City (I’m biased) & my Realtor photo is 8 yrs old!
Have lived in the St. Louis area for 21 years. Love that you still get a little bit of that big city feel but without all of the traffic and high cost of living that comes with truly large cities.
Now I know how the Donner party must have felt during their cross-country journey - battling all of the unknown obstacles, stopping for hours to allow the oxen to rest, wondering where the next water source is (and if the is potable), paying local tribes a toll fee to pass, running into winter weather due to delays and route changes...etc. You are f'in funny though, man!!! That Sly Stallone imitation is top notch. I caught your Donald imitation on your previous vid and it on the money, too!!!
13:05 this lady was not happy your Rivian was charging at her Tesla station….😂 I’ve done about 6,000 miles so far this summer in long road trips, using mostly Tesla SCs to charge, taking up 2 spaces. Honestly no confrontations yet, but I’m sure it will happen eventually. If anything I get a lot of people approaching me asking me questions about how I like the Rivian.
You’re correct about the up and down temps in the Midwest. Very high and also low. We are hitting 100 in KC now, but this winter gave us a week of 0 and snows. EV owning right now is simple though. Never any waiting to plug in when traveling around. Most terrain is flat so good efficiency.
You need to initiate the charge with the Tesla app before plugging in. Otherwise, you will be paying the higher rate. Just did a Vegas trip with my R1T. First time using the adapter at Tesla supercharging.
Kansas City! best bbq in the world (anthony bourdain said so dont argue with me) and slow paced but still active in various communities. nice weather and a lot of cool history too. was born and raised there (very baised) and i still go back to visit often.
Northwest Arkansas is still in the Ozarks there is a lot of nature and beauty, but it also has some city life as well due to being Walmart headquarters in Bentonville. I'm a little bias being an NWA native though.
You couldn’t have made your trip that way without Tesla chargers. It’s kinda mind-blowing that Tesla built a huge charger network, and the chargers have crazy good uptime. What other company would have done that?
Tesla had to do it, or they would not have sold many cars. None of the other electric car companies seemed to realize that people would not buy cars if they felt they might get stranded while driving to grandma's house for the holidays.
Passed through Joplin where I’m located! Consider Northwest Arkansas like the greater Rogers area and give it a look for sure! It’s a growing market and a beautiful and great area to live
Aww man! I just passed through that same station in Richmond, IN Sunday evening around 5. Would have been awesome to have met you! My rating on the blowout station was a D. No toilet paper 😢. Happy trails!
You were supposed say hi next time you came through Joplin🙂. BTW Joplin is a great place to live. This place has everything. Easy to get around no traffic. Easy access north and south.
I live in Tulsa, I really enjoy the balance of big-ish city but not too big. Hills and woods of eastern Oklahoma & NW Arkansas aren’t the Alps or anything but fairly pretty. Actually having 4 seasons is cool imo, although summers are hotter than I’d prefer. Beats DFW tho. Still would love to move nearer to the Rockies one day 🤷♂️
@@Gjeebs Sorry, I thought all Rivians came with that roller cover like the CT. Safe travels. Move to Texas. I’m in Sugar Land, some folks like Dallas and Austin. No state income tax.
@@Gjeebs Definitely look into getting a manual cover it does help with highway efficiency… I have the Rivian manual cover pre-price hike it was a good deal… Look into the Interrobang cover he custom makes them and they’re nearly identical to the Rivian and about half the price! Great Video…
Thank you for your video! I noticed you are using the Lectron NACS-to-CSS1 adapter. There are plenty of stories out there saying how difficult it is to disconnect it from the Tesla cable. I surmise you did not have such issues. Need to get one for my R1S, would appreciate your further thoughts on the Lectron fit. Thank you again!
There is a little disconnect button on the bottom that lets you release it. I know what they are talking about but sometimes it gets caught and just just have to putt it an extra 1 or two times so I don't see it as a massive issue. Here is a short video I did on it for amazon: www.amazon.com/live/video/0eaa985330b1492e8ae2308660a19feb?ref_=asvh_vdp
9:03 since we’re going to talk about bumper stickers: what’s the point of putting who you’re voting for on your car? Do you think you’re changing anyone’s mind or earning a fence vote? “Oh hey, that’s a sweet F350. I’m voting for Trump now!” Or, “will you look at that? That guy with the R1S is voting for Harris. I was undecided but I sure do like Rivians and he looks pleasant. I’m in!”
On your trip back try Buc’ees in Springfield MO. There is a new set of Tesla Chargers there with magic docks and the food there is absolutely incredible.
I hate the charge curve on Rivians. I really wish they would flatten it even if the max was lower. Both it and the f150 just suck. On my 3500mile round trip road trip I would frequently pull in to chargers with 10-20% ish charge and there would be r1s or f150s there at 40-50%. 15-20mins later I’m leaving at 80% and they are still charging @ 70 something percent.
Curious if you end up moving! I have lived in Arizona my whole life and I am really over it unfortunately. It is beautiful but SO overpriced, congested, takes all day to drive where you need to go, and the development/water scarcity is concerning. I keep considering rural Tennessee or even up in Maine.
Autonomous Driving for the masses - Whoa, didn't know you had thought about that. Here I was thinking you were just all crude jokes. You are 100% correct on that. While interesting and useful for consumer cars, it's world changing for "taxi" like applications where you don't own the car. Probably not the best angle when talking to a car company that sells consumer cars though. No points awarded.
Pretty sure Hyundai had this blind spot camera feature before Tesla and Tesla added it because they’re so good at software…not sure they can claim that patent. Model y owner so not taking sides, just striving for accuracy. Tesla may have claims about more internal software design as the judge let the case proceed and didn’t dismiss it at Elon just complaining.
Why didn't you go to Buc-ee’s... you were so close. Buc-ee’s are great.😊 Great places to charge electric vehicles. The EV is ready to go before you can get back to the vehicle.

Oklahoma weather beats Texas weather, that couple of degrees cooler from being farther north helps in the summer
Rivian Rocks!
Funny and informative. Thanks for not making it too long. Some providers limit bandwidth.
We've got beer in our grocery store and hardware store down in SC while you shop. July and August can still be pretty brutally hot though.
Keep in mind that driving in low ride setting wears tires on the inside edge and in high wears tires on outside edge.
I live in Kansas City, MO. Houses are pretty cheap here compared to more populated areas in the country.
Plus, the BBQ is top tier
Also in KCMO. Would recommend anyone thinking of coming here to do it sooner than later with how quick home prices have risen.
