I'm so happy you decided to land vikings, it's the whole point of the unit and opens up so much more utility, I'm really excited for everything you have in store for this challenge
So thermie, it’s actually really common for pro players to always be confused and/or notice that lower league players scout so early and in weird areas. Speaking from personal experience, the reason for this is because smooth brain. We don’t have the automatic decision making that you pros just don’t even realize you have. So we have to scout early because if we see a cheese or a proxy our first reaction is always PANIC. Then mess up the build while trying to decide what to do about it. So to counter this phenomenon, we scout super early and for proxies all the time so we have enough time to get through our panic and relax enough to actually react to it.
Strat vs Toss A. Use scans to find cyber core and robo. B. Teleport two battle cruisers on top of cyber core and Yamato and destroy cyber. Battle cruisers are decoy and sacrificial. C. Fly main banshee and Viking army in to destroy robo. D. Snipe all observers with Vikings . E. Once there is no more obs use banshee to chase toss army and cause chaos. F. Scan to find where the new cyber is being built or robo, Use Vikings to snipe newly building cybers or robo’s.
I don't know how viable it would be, but I've seen a build from Winter where he does a landed viking drop, with auto-repair scvs in the medivac to pick up and repair in the field and re-drop really fast.
I think the ultimate way to do it, is to avoid proxy battlecruiser. Build it in your base. Move it slowly to opponent's base, or teleport it close to enemy base (safe & unseen), wait for it to recharge and when you are rdy attack and teleport back. P.S. This way you wouldn't have lost the fusion core :)
Bongcloud was fun to watch because it was an early game build order hindrance. Nothing like bong cloud has seemed similar balance wise. Maybe a strategic hindrance works better for mid/late game. Mid game challenge idea: Production Pool - place all of your production structures within 2 tiles of each other. Sim City, rally points and unit sticking is an APM drain. Late game challenge idea: Spelling Bee - Spell the opponents’ nickname on the minimap before you end. Long names lead to late game and vice versa. Mix cheap units and strategic buildings. Clan Tags are fair game for early game kills. Only need to make the name for a moment, not maintain over the course of the game. A minimap screenshot at the end of the match would be a nice edit. These are good challenges because they aren’t unit/resource limitations! You can go nuts and strategize around a strategic goal other than army focused build orders.
I think it's fair in sky Terran to GM that your allowed to make tanks or bunkers to defend but they were not allowed to be unsieged or use in any kind of aggression. It's only for home defense purposes. The limit on the amount of tanks I'm unsure but it can't be like 10 tanks just 1-4 to get into 3-4 bases
Very clean games. Those speed banshees are a nightmare, they hit too late to be what I would consider strong but in the hands of a good player they force so much committed defense.

You asked what I wanted to see: Set up an air terran repair station with medivacs filled with scv's. They are usually much to busy defending their base to even consider splitting off units to move out half a screen to hunt some scv's. That they will fly away and are no big loss makes it very uninteresting. Still, it allows you to split off a damaged banshee, liberator, viking or bc, fly it towards the garage and fix it up before the next one needs to be patched up. As I keep saying, a single scv builds units as fast as a single star port. Each round of harassment must be tuned down to zero losses ideally. 4 banshees attack the workers, 3 after one leaves for repair, 2 after the second leaves, then fly the remaining ones out and move back in with 5, 4, 3, 0, 6(!)
What Maru did to Ragnarok in rd 2 of the recent GSL finals was amazing. He kept to 2 bases build 1 more to bait him and controlled the whole game with 2 bases. I think that will make a very tough challenge. Please consider doing it some time in the future. Thanks for the content.
Hey Marc! Great content. Have you considered using Medivacs to drop landed Vikings? Also, if you’re going to sack SCVs, maybe consider sending them with/to your BC army so they can auto repair while they die? Thanks for the episodes!
Banshees are pretty good if the opponent doesn't have good detection. It's going to be hard to find the right timing to mix in other units depending on how you are being countered.
A buddy of mine tries to get a fast +1 armour proxy battle cruiser vs Terran. It’s hilarious how little bio does against it. He can just park his BC in their base and wreck face.
Re: comment at 19:10 - I think it's simply because 1) many 🧀's are easier to execute at a lower level than it is to craft a response, so 2) you're 2-3x as likely to encounter 🧀 in the middle leagues, so 3) the most reliable way to counter 🧀 is to scout the 🧀. Welcome to the diamond/masters "meta"!
I would love reapers to gm, its so hard against oracle in early game but i've seen heromarine do so much dmg they have to keep oracles at home etc. seems rly fun maybe with an allowed transition later in the game
Is there such a thing as a proxy starport? Might be hard to get set up without ground units, but at least the starport units can traverse the map quickly. For some other cheesy challenge, I was thinking of a quadruple barracks reaper proxy all in, but with the barracks not in the same location. If the opponent scouts a pair of barracks then cancel them and save some money, or pick them up and move them back (or scout and use for high ground vision). Then continue to build reapers from the other pair of hidden barracks after the opponent thinks they have already shut down the cheese. Could it be done with reactor hellions? I dunno, maybe it would cost too much, or be too all in to macro out of if it fails. I don't remember seeing it before, and was wondering if it would work.
How do the people get the upgrades to the vehicles that are already out anyhow? Nanomachines? Little guys running the parts over? Portals? I need the deepest lore.
Simply making your buildings close to the opponent (for rushing or hiding from scouting) rather than in your own base. It can give you the element of surprise but you’ll quickly lose them if discovered.

I only played starcraft's campaign and kinda love watching uThermal lately, so i'm curious, are medics, goliaths and firebats that worthless that they are never used or something?
Medics Goliaths and firebats are campaign only units. That's why we only see certain types of units in uThermal videos and other ranked games. TLDR: not all units in the campaign are in matches

It is also worth pointing out that Hellions can transform into Hellbats which function very similar to Firebats. And Vikings fill a similar role as Goliaths. They shoot bullets at ground units and missiles at air units. They just have to transform in between.
Medics were entirely replaced by Medivacs. I vaguely recall beta commentary that they were meant to be able to follow Reapers around, but when Reapers got nerfed into the scout unit it is today that was no longer relevant, but now its for high speed transporting. Goliaths got roughly split into Vikings and Thors, Thors are literally giant slow Gols. Firebats kinda got turned into Hellion/Hellbat, but without stim they can't really be used the same way as before.
Curious as to why in the late game you make your cc that turn into orbitals at the front. Why not make them inside the main or deeper in your bases and make the planetary at the front.
@uTermal what about a new challange: "The Noah´s Ark". Aim would be, to build at least two of every single unit in every game. But: If you dont have at least two of them at the games ending, you must not use these units in the following games. (cause they clearly can´t reproduce allone) After any promotion you can get one type of lost unit back.
I wanna see Liberator Battlecruiser. I don't play the game so I don't know if this is good. But I've seen about 70 challenge episodes so far, and Liberators have appeared maybe twice. I wanna see what they can do.
Tempests really need another unit in front of it to draw fire, which is why Carriers and Void Rays supporting it is so annoying. But yeah, EMP, Armor missile, Vikings or mass marine
I think people in masters and diamond scout more for proxies because they lack game knowledge and mechanics of GM so scouting a proxy earlier might give necessary time to defend properly.
I'll land some Vikings next episode no worries :D

Put 2 SCVs with autorepair inside a medivac with 3 landed Vikings inside. The SCVs will be able to repair the Vikings from inside :D

Don't forget, if people don't scout they can also just be terrible, like myself, who can't micro a scout and build a base at the same time.
