This is my absolute all time favorite song from Charlie Pride. and it does remind me of where we moved from at age 12. I have been back many years later and every word takes me back there every time. Thank you Steve, and Don!
Oh wow!! Such a beautiful song by Charlie Pride! This is the first time hearing this song by him. Thank you Steve for the request! Awesome reaction, Don.
I personally was one of those who could not wait to get out of “the middle of nowhere” and as I get older I yearn to return…. As we age we often gain wisdom and in my case the bright lights were a lot dimmer up close for some reason. Thanks for sharing this Don. #UTRCM
Two miles from the Nashville airport stood a little round bar called The Rose Room, on Tuesdays they had Writers nite. One Tuesday nite, Charley Pride came in wearing a t-shirt and a Braves ballcap and sang this and other songs, just great.
made me think of several years ago i went back to my old house i grew up in. It was totally different now, the new owners completely remodeled it and added on. i couild recognize parts but most of it was so new. same with my old school, they tore down part and built new and remodled the rest so it's unrecognizeable from when i was there
Looked it up. Written by Liz Anderson. Liz is the mother of Lynn Anderson and had a few hits of her own. Mama Spank. That's A No-no. She wrote songs for others including Lonesome Fugitive for merle Haggard. I like too many Charley Pride songs to have a favorite.
I need the worst written to this song as my Brother just passed away and he loved this song and l do too.Just wonder if l can find the word or l may have to get them written our myself .

Charley storytelling could make you almost feel the song was about you. What a great singer.
