Thank you for reacting to this song i requested. :) The song was written by Jewell House, in 1949 and Hank Williams was the first to record it. Beside the prison part i have actually experienced almost the same as the lyrics in this song and that time was hell on earth. Not easy to pronounce my name in english hehe. i'm from Norway but my last name is german.. funny you tried. ;) I love your channel and the way you react to all the videos. No1 country react channel of all the channels i listen to. Keep up the good work. :)
Charley does a good job on this. I hadn't heard him sing it before. I was singing this along with Hank sixty-five years ago. You could do a sad thing by Charley called I'm Not The Boy I Used To Be. Or let Hank depress you with Alone And Forsaken.

Sr. didn't actually write this it was written by Jewell House and has been covered several times. I hope everyone has a good Sunday afternoon.

A decent version, but just didn't sound "outlaw" enough to be believable for me. In contrast, I prefer David Allan Coe's cover...a disgraced man sitting in prison? yep...too easy for Mr. Coe's persona to pull that off. Of course, Hank's will always be the best...his ability to personify deep-rooted sorrow will never be matched.
