There should be a Charlie Pride movie. He absolutely changed the game, and always had a smile and a humble soul. And, damn what a perfect voice. RIP, Charlie. Listening today through your library sure makes me feel like a child again.
@@reginaldbotchaby5375 ok you confused me with that because I’m not from that generation and have never seen six million dollar man and I saw a comment abt Dwayne Johnson on the comment above you so I thought abt the wrong Steve Austin 😂
Many of us here in Mississippi believe that this should be made our State song. It's known, and it is done by one of our own native sons. we love you Charley!
How can a video get any better? I mean you have a man from Mississippi singing about the Mississippi river while going down the Mighty Mississippi on the Mississippi Queen. It's perfect
it is perfect, he is a perfect singer, he is perfectly blessed by a perfect creator, i grew up on the banks of the assinaboine river listening to this ,it helped me dream of perfect things, YOU THE MAN CHARLEY PRIDE,I thank you for signing for me for 64 years,
@@daveyhofer7926 When my parents separated when I was a kid. My dad got an apartment on the bluffs of the Ohio river. I use go sit down in the grass and play this song as watched the barges flow on past.
My cousin once went to a party at his house years ago. He walked around in cutoff shorts and was just a really nice guy.. charlie, you're not allowed to ever leave us. You're loved.
Just heard that Charley Pride passed. This was one of my favorite songs sung by one of my favorite people. My dad was from Mississippi too. He passed two years ago and looked almost just like Charley.
I always said that the day I heard the Delta Queen or the Mississippi Queen's fog signals & it didn't send chills up & down my spine, I was getting off the river. In 2008,I broke my leg getting knocked off a barge & the Queen's are both off the river. I'm kinda lost here.
This song is so nostalgic and important to me now. My dad used to sing it to me every night when I was kid. It makes me feel so happy and warm inside:)
This song makes me think of all the mistakes I've made in life and how I wish I could go back to being the kid I remember. We used to have this on an 8 track player and I'd always listen to it. RIP me pride. You've left a mark in this person and thank you for the memories as a kid.
What an ABSOLUTE AWESOME song!!! I'm 52 yes old...this song takes me back to my childhood memories of growing up in Gordon Alabama...about 20 miles south of Dothan & riding around with my dad in his old 1972 Chevrolet C/10 LWB pickup...no a/c...no p/s...3spd on the column...both windows rolled down & listening to this on his old 8-track player. Great song...even better memories!!! Much love from Mobile Alabama.
My wife and I go to Branson, Missouri twice a year. We used to book our vacations there when Charley would be in concert at the Grand Palace. We miss you Charley. RIP
Since I grew up right next to the Mississippi River, and it was the source of my family’s income for so many years, this song has a special meaning to me. My 84-year-old mother also loves it. ❤
Charley was a wonderful artist and a great man. This was a great song, not as well known as some of his other songs are, but it definitely should be. I love the references to Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. A Country station in our local area has a show every week night called "The 80's at 8. For that hour they only play Country songs from 1979 to 1990. So basically the 80's. This song is on the show frequently and I became kind of obsessed with it and several other tunes. Ed Bruce "The Last Cowboy Song" is just so deeply moving.
I loved this song when I was a young boy. And when I listen to today the tears flow in my older age reflecting my childhood. But it's the death of loved ones. I'm so ready for the new system.
A friend of mine said that his Coast Guard buoy tender(He was the Executive Senior Chief Petty officer-2nd in command) was locking through St Louis with the Delta Queen and he had this playing over the topside speakers. He said that so many passengers were crowding onto the same side as his boat to hear the music that he could hear the loudspeakers on the DQ begging the passengers to please move so that they could rebalance the boat.
Oh how I wish...of all the wishes I could ever be granted, please take me back to era of my youth. When music was "REAL". When People were genuine. When life was good, and America...was America. And now it seems, you've left and gone home. Kiss an Angel...God Speed Charlie. Wish I could go with you.
Gran i miss you so much there's a hole in my heart so big that nobody will ever fill i never went to bed hungry even if it was just porridge you made sure i had shoes on my feet and clothes on my back i love you nana and miss you so very much❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I never figured the world to be such a fan of Charlie Pride that they'd dedicate an entire month to him, but that works for me. He was an amazing singer, musician, and baseball player. In commemoration of Pride month, I'll play Charlie's hits at least once a week. Take me home.....
This song popped into my head this morning. I hadn't heard it in many years. Oh God did it ever take me back in time. Miss those days. Miss Charlie Pride.
The song that goes in the back memories of my childhood. As one of my favorite singers my mother would play Charley Pride records a lot he was one of the first country stars heard of. My mother would pass on way before Charlie but I got to spend an intimate moment with Charlie when he was in the hospital just us two alone. I was able to tell him how much my mother loved his music. Then he told me that his mother and my mother are up there in heaven looking down on us proud of us. True story
Charley really hits this city boy with his country story. I mean his connection to nature. Wow. This song takes you somewhere few songs even try to go. Spiritual connection to nature. Words fail, stop now.
By far my favorite Charlie Pride song! Country Charlie Pride was my dad’s favorite artist! He’d seen him several times when Charlie was playing the South Texas Dance Halls.
You would have been raised in the coastal plain in the lower MS valley to truly understood this song. The Ole Man river had mystique to it truly fearful in some ways but to be respected and admired. No river quite compares to this body of water. Charlie knew about it and that's why he could sunr abou

there was talks of a biopic involving dwayne johnson
@Brian Smith Hey, you never know. Mark Wahlberg was to play Steve Austin, in The Six Billion Dollar Man!
And when they asked him how he got to be that way.......
Amen brother. He is a national treasure.

One of the lyrics to this song is "You make me feel like a child again". Well, I'm 51, and Mr Pride, this song makes me feel like a child again.
Me too
Me too!
Right there with you feeling like a child again as I listen to this song.

I totally agree! I so miss this talented man! ❤
I was raised on a farm by the Mississippi River. You know I feel it! 🤠
Them r words of wisdom
Maybe its just my age but I sure do miss the era of singers like Charley Pride. Todays music just doesn't have the same feeling behind it.
That era was the best
You sure got that right! This new sounding country music isn't anything like I heard growing up in the 1960s and 1970s
#TRUTH
Charley was a legend, and he will be missed.
I always wanted to see him in concert but never got the chance to😟😟😟

This song puts a lump in my throat. I didn't grow up by the Mississippi, but by the Snake River in Oregon.
I put this on to dream about my first time reading Tom Sawyer as a child. Magical. What a great singer and human being. RIP
