It does make it nice but I didn't pay $500 for my SX to play old games. Although I played the TR reboot and noticed a big difference, though i only played for like half an hour because I've been through it like 50 times!!
FPS Boost is the most next-gen feature for me. Xbox has something no console ever had. They give life to 20 years of Xbox legacy with Backwards Compatibility, Auto-HDR, FPS-Boost and Quick Resume. If I didn’t already have an Xbox I would get one instantly. So much games I’ve wanted to pick up and now they got this amazing feature. These features replace the €60 Remaster crap. If Mass Effect had FPS Boost I didn’t even need the remasters
Yeah, part of the reason I left Xbox back during the start of the Xbox One days is they lacked exclusives, and features. Then they announced backwards compatibility, and I basically instantly returned. Since then they have consistently impressed me with their support for legacy games. From the greatly expanded library, One X Enhancements, and now FPS Boost. I think if you are an actual fan of Xbox, and have followed them since the OG console, you might feel a bit spoiled with all this great stuff lol
fps boost is not next gen, its been on pc for years, if legacy games are your thing, you should have bought a gaming pc. if you had a pc you'd have a high fps mass effect when it released.

I have been most impressed by ReCore, Sleeping Dogs, and Tomb Raider DE out of the ones I have played. ReCore feels like it was always meant to be played at a higher framerate. The Platforming in that game can get super intense, but now at 60 FPS the movement feels so good. I still think this game is super underrated.

A game is always new to me if I never played it. This is so cool having "older" games get these boost ups so I can enjoy them the best way possible when the time comes when I get around playing them
As a Sony fan, i have to say Microsoft has been really consumer friendly and been giving lots of great features for the Xbox. Honestly kind of considering trying an Xbox this generation if they churn out some good exclusives.
And I have gone from One X to PS5 Digital and loving it too. Both consoles are great, if you can afford both of them then you can enjoy the best of both worlds. If you are only planning to get one and have enjoyed PS exclusives then I would stick to PS. They will deliver, Xbox, while highly likely, only might deliver.
I bought the Xbox game pass ultimate for 3 months to use for my Xbox/pc and after playing halo/forza and gears I don't think I'll be renewing my membership because there just isn't many games that interest me. This is coming from someone who has a pc/xbox/ps5. Hopefully Microsoft can get some good exclusives over the next few years.
If only they could fix terrible aliasing, on consoles, the game would be playable for me. I played it recently with "Alias Isolation" mod on PC and it looks absolutely amazing. No shimmering at all...

@@am_gabu Actually, only a few 360 and OG Xbox games got resolution boosts through the Xbox One X. Most of them play at their original resolutions but are upscaled to fit the image of your TV. Not all Xbox games got resolution boosts so some play at 1080p or below.

Guess I'll have to go back and buy a few of these games for Series X. As with these fps increases they are now the place to play quite a few of these games over PS5.
Yup Some of the old games which turned me down now feels fresh with fps boost and feels entirely different so I'm playing some retro stuffs through game pass but since SONY is always about new things we gotta expect things differently from them

Microsoft is really bending over backwards to give people what they want. I really hope these moves aren't punished by the console community ignoring this effort. Sony is comparatively anti consumer, but still is winning somehow.
Because people are stupid, even as MS does everything people said they needed - many will stick with PS even if MS's massive first party turns out the hits. The press and lots of the tubers and streamers are also to blame for how they cover MS like it still 2013, or course (the way the cover Bethesda purchase and still wonder about exclusivity when Phil made it clear is very, very telling, and even moreso when most of them have powerful P's).
The console "exclusive" aspect is the only thing lacking. As a basically Xbox first guy, I can't argue with anyone that brings up the lack of must play games on the platform. I personally went back to Xbox specifically due to their crazy good support for backwards compatible games on Xbox One, and it's only gotten better and better. It really is still a waiting game for Xbox to churn out that must have game still to this day. Halo Infinite's delay was a major blow IMO. But yeah, Xbox is absolutely unmatched in features. I have been an Xbox fan since the OG Xbox, and I feel spoiled as a fan. When the big games start dropping, it's going to be absolutely sick.
People still think this is the same Sony from when the PS4 launched. Many have forgotten or don’t know PlayStation headquarters is now in California and we’re in for some dark times with the PS brand.
Arkham Knight was patched to be dynamic 1080p on Xbox, so currently it's 1080p30 on XSS and XSX. And in a way, it's funny, because XSX can do 4K60 easily on it while XSS can do 1440p60 if they'd want to.

It's a shame Anthem has quite such an extensive resolution drop but, that being said, to ME personally, it's IS still a no brainer. No amount of resolution is gonna make me play at 30FPS... On a Series X.... in TWENTY TWENTY ONE lol. So sure, I get and agree it's a shame about the res dropping quite THAT much, but, I am SO, SOOOOO grateful we have the choice, let people choose! I myself choose to play Anthem at 60, and I have WAITED LOOOOOONG for this!!! Fluidity and gameplay first. always. That is such a false statement it's funny. Sony might not have fps boost or anything but they haven't gone greedy at all. They have 25 exclusives in development half are new IP. Sony consistently releases AAA exclusives throughout 2020 and 2021 while xbox said they don't need games for launch. Who is more greedy here? The more FPS boost games I see the more I am debating on getting an XSX, I usually game on my PC but seeing my old collection of games getting a nice upgrade on Xbox is nice.

Been waiting for this one. The last fps boost drop was great. The quantity and frequency of these has been awesome. Far Cry 5 was a top ask for me so glad to see that. And Mad Max at 120 fps among several others I am excited about. Completely gives these games a fresh feel.
People will try them and drop them. It's a feature with a lot of potential for sure, but they lack games to come back to. Imagine someone saying; oh so cool I can now spend 100+ hours in anthem couse it's 60 on my series x.

I gave myself fps boost on my pathetic ps5 by simply not giving Sony my money for any 30fps game on my ps4 Pro, even including their pathetic 30fps rentals. Good for nothing Company 98% of all my ps4 games are 60fps.
If you have a series s get a gaming monitor 1080p/144hz with freesync (VRR) and you are gold. Played the performance mode of Guardians of the galaxy which stutters actually quite a lot and urBeats a perfect expieremce for me. You probably won’t notice any stutters in Homefront too. Also Titanfall 2 singleplayer on 120 fps is a Must Play
Reading a lot of comments complaining that the FPS boost is just for old games, or that gamepass is overpriced and has no good games on it. I just don’t get it, the FPS boost is free! It’s such a nice bonus and if you have gamepass, which is cheap, (especially if you buy an Xbox ‘gold card’ and covert it to ‘gp ultimate’) it’s really cool and easy to see some classics playing at 60 FPS like fallout 3,4 and NV. We gamers are a negative bunch sometimes. New games are so detailed and hard to make these days, we have to understand that it takes a long time. So in the meantime let’s enjoy the cheap and fun gamepass, and enjoy the free FPS boost to some of our older games. 😀
I was really excited for the Gears of War 4 update to play at 60 in campaign mode at 4k ot maybe 1440p. But then once I enable it I realized that it took away all the Xbox One X enhancements. Might as well just play on the performance mode.
I'm thinking of buying it to try it out, I just have so many games to play right now. With Mass effect and biomutant on the way I'm not sure I'll have the time. 😃

The Metro Redux physical version is not working with FPS boost, the option is greyed out. I’m sure this is an oversight as the disc contains a combined app with both games together. Wonder if they’ll fix this?
I remember there was Dying Light Enhanced Edition with improved graphics and extra content for the past gen consoles. And it was selling as a separate game. Does it benefit from the fps boost as well?

Fps makes all theses games feel like they were recently released. It's insane playing a game 8yrs old or more and it runs and looks better than games last year
@Cal Sony has full BC with 8th gen, so it's the same as MS. Then Sony has none with the previous ones. MS claims "full backwards compatibility" yet they support like 50% of 360 library and about 10% of original one (just look at their bc website, then compare numbers from there to wikipedia's "list of games for X console". Not that hard really.

Freaking Dying Light! I feel from a few videos this year from a few outlets it might just be getting the attention it deserved. This game is amazing. Almost limitless enemies on screen at once it feels like when playing... great gameplay... man I can’t wait for 2.

This is so cool, I just wish they could do more. Lowering resolution to sub 1080p is less than ideal, especially when they have a One X patch. It seems like they gave up on enhancing older Xbox and Xbox 360 titles (which was only resolution if I recall) and are only focusing on Xbox one games via framerate at the cost of resolution.
I dont think a lot of people understand what FPS boost is. Complaining about resolution when the feature is called FPS boost. I mean...its in the name. It boost frames not resolution for your last gen games you still own. Anyone complaining about this either dont understand it or just looking for something to complain about
As much as I would love that too being one of the few people on the planet that did enjoy Deadrising 3, the PC port came with odd physics effects when turned the framerate cap off to 60, so I'm not sure if it would translate the best on the Xbox port too

120fps is the thing I never knew I wanted for next gen. Love it.

For Far Cry 5 specifically there's no reason they can't enable FPS Boost on the One X code path, the mode we have now is mostly for Series S support.
Microsoft is really bending over backwards to give people what they want. I really hope these moves aren't punished by the console community ignoring this effort. Sony is comparatively anti consumer, but still is winning somehow.
Because people are stupid, even as MS does everything people said they needed - many will stick with PS even if MS's massive first party turns out the hits. The press and lots of the tubers and streamers are also to blame for how they cover MS like it still 2013, or course (the way the cover Bethesda purchase and still wonder about exclusivity when Phil made it clear is very, very telling, and even moreso when most of them have powerful P's).
The console "exclusive" aspect is the only thing lacking. As a basically Xbox first guy, I can't argue with anyone that brings up the lack of must play games on the platform. I personally went back to Xbox specifically due to their crazy good support for backwards compatible games on Xbox One, and it's only gotten better and better. It really is still a waiting game for Xbox to churn out that must have game still to this day. Halo Infinite's delay was a major blow IMO. But yeah, Xbox is absolutely unmatched in features. I have been an Xbox fan since the OG Xbox, and I feel spoiled as a fan. When the big games start dropping, it's going to be absolutely sick.
People still think this is the same Sony from when the PS4 launched. Many have forgotten or don’t know PlayStation headquarters is now in California and we’re in for some dark times with the PS brand.

Arkham Knight was patched to be dynamic 1080p on Xbox, so currently it's 1080p30 on XSS and XSX. And in a way, it's funny, because XSX can do 4K60 easily on it while XSS can do 1440p60 if they'd want to.
Such An incredible Feature ! people went Crazy last gen that games would not hit 60fps and most ran at 30fps or less,you can't get enough of this and it keeps expanding ! along with Auto HDR and VRR etc what u just get for Free as an upgrade is just amazing !
This is how you transition gamers from an old consoles to next gen. Gudos for Microsoft they are doing an excelent job.

I imagine there are reasons for it. The back compat workaround probably still runs into bottlenecks that genuine next gen ports wouldn't have.

I feel like even watching at 60fps you can see how snappy and smooth everything is.
It's a shame Anthem has quite such an extensive resolution drop but, that being said, to ME personally, it's IS still a no brainer. No amount of resolution is gonna make me play at 30FPS... On a Series X.... in TWENTY TWENTY ONE lol. So sure, I get and agree it's a shame about the res dropping quite THAT much, but, I am SO, SOOOOO grateful we have the choice, let people choose! I myself choose to play Anthem at 60, and I have WAITED LOOOOOONG for this!!! Fluidity and gameplay first. always. And someone else is welcome to choose differently ;D and that's the beauty of giving us the choice, performance and frame rate stability, vs visual fidelity priority. Nothing wrong with either and when you get BOTH it's just a huuuuuuge bonus!

Certain titles I think. Max Payne 1 is 120 hz in 4K as far as I can tell.
Does the patch for Homefront The Revolution now mean Timesplitters 2 HD is now 120fps. Since Timesplitters 2 HD was 60fps already?

That is such a false statement it's funny. Sony might not have fps boost or anything but they haven't gone greedy at all. They have 25 exclusives in development half are new IP. Sony consistently releases AAA exclusives throughout 2020 and 2021 while xbox said they don't need games for launch. Who is more greedy here? Don't even get me started on that xbox live double price controversy. Seriously, what is up with people right now that everyone jumps on the hatewagon for sony but always forgets the shit xbox did/does.

Both consoles certainly have their strengths and its def worth it to pick up both this generation.
The more FPS boost games I see the more I am debating on getting an XSX, I usually game on my PC but seeing my old collection of games getting a nice upgrade on Xbox is nice.

When it's 4k 30 it's hard to choose. 1080p is way to blurry in a 4k display, looks so much much better at 4k

Been waiting for this one. The last fps boost drop was great. The quantity and frequency of these has been awesome. Far Cry 5 was a top ask for me so glad to see that. And Mad Max at 120 fps among several others I am excited about. Completely gives these games a fresh feel.

If you have a series s get a gaming monitor 1080p/144hz with freesync (VRR) and you are gold. Played the performance mode of Guardians of the galaxy which stutters actually quite a lot and urBeats a perfect expieremce for me. You probably won’t notice any stutters in Homefront too. Also Titanfall 2 singleplayer on 120 fps is a Must Play
Reading a lot of comments complaining that the FPS boost is just for old games, or that gamepass is overpriced and has no good games on it.
I just don’t get it, the FPS boost is free! It’s such a nice bonus and if you have gamepass, which is cheap, (especially if you buy an Xbox ‘gold card’ and covert it to ‘gp ultimate’) it’s really cool and easy to see some classics playing at 60 FPS like fallout 3,4 and NV.
We gamers are a negative bunch sometimes. New games are so detailed and hard to make these days, we have to understand that it takes a long time.
So in the meantime let’s enjoy the cheap and fun gamepass, and enjoy the free FPS boost to some of our older games. 😀

I was really excited for the Gears of War 4 update to play at 60 in campaign mode at 4k ot maybe 1440p. But then once I enable it I realized that it took away all the Xbox One X enhancements. Might as well just play on the performance mode.

The Metro Redux physical version is not working with FPS boost, the option is greyed out. I’m sure this is an oversight as the disc contains a combined app with both games together. Wonder if they’ll fix this?

@Cal Sony has full BC with 8th gen, so it's the same as MS. Then Sony has none with the previous ones. MS claims "full backwards compatibility" yet they support like 50% of 360 library and about 10% of original one (just look at their bc website, then compare numbers from there to wikipedia's "list of games for X console". Not that hard really.

Freaking Dying Light! I feel from a few videos this year from a few outlets it might just be getting the attention it deserved. This game is amazing. Almost limitless enemies on screen at once it feels like when playing... great gameplay... man I can’t wait for 2.

This is so cool, I just wish they could do more. Lowering resolution to sub 1080p is less than ideal, especially when they have a One X patch. It seems like they gave up on enhancing older Xbox and Xbox 360 titles (which was only resolution if I recall) and are only focusing on Xbox one games via framerate at the cost of resolution.

I dont think a lot of people understand what FPS boost is. Complaining about resolution when the feature is called FPS boost. I mean...its in the name. It boost frames not resolution for your last gen games you still own. Anyone complaining about this either dont understand it or just looking for something to complain about

As much as I would love that too being one of the few people on the planet that did enjoy Deadrising 3, the PC port came with odd physics effects when turned the framerate cap off to 60, so I'm not sure if it would translate the best on the Xbox port too
