    My cramps be so evil it stops hurting for like 10 seconds and when i think im good it comes back with a vengeance

    As much as these suck absolute ballsack, there's something about the feeling you get after it finally goes away thats really relaxing. Just being able exist without tremendous pain and discomfort feels like nirvana after what you've just experienced.

    since i usually get them while lying down in bed, I kid you not I bite down on my pillow as hard as I can b/c the pain is so bad, and wait for it to go away, usually in less than five minutes. It's the second worse pain I've ever been in after kidney stones.

    Grab the muscle and massage deeply counter clockwise and it'll break up immediately. It'll hurt but it'll help. I went to college for massage therapy.

      @Evil Queen Regina Ashley it just has to do with your potassium levels and stress. After you massage the muscle counterclockwise to where the muscles aren't tensing into each other should help you get onto your feet in no time. Let me know how well it works for you 🙂 I get them all the time in my left calf and it's the best remedy I can give out

    Nope! The second it cramps immediately jump out of bed and flatten out your foot, like take some steps. It will stop it instantly.

    Not helpful if you can't move or get out of bed. If you are alone, you're going to suffer. It has happened to me and I was unable to move my leg or try massaging it out for half an hour. It was horrible.

      YUP! i had one of those half an hours a couple months ago and of course, i really needed to go to a different room!! It was sheer hell!!

      I'm sorry mine are pretty bad also but if I stand up &put pressure on it hurts but will take it away hope you can figure something out for your pain

    Ok, so now i have another Q for Dr. Sutton: since i get most all my charley horses when i'm laying in bed, & i don't have a freezer even in the same room; then how do you get to your freezer for those 'ice packs,' when you can't even walk because of said 'charley horse?!'

      Thank you! Thats exactly what I was going to say! Almost every leg cramp I’ve had has happened while I’m sleeping or about to wake up. I am instantly awake when it starts! F*ing hurts! The only thing I can do is grit my teeth and try to massage my leg.

      @@FFgirl7 - for sure! I think mine come when i just wake up and try to stretch a little? I keep a heating pad on the side of my bed and turn it on immediately and apply. It helps maybe 50% of the time ...

    stretch it by being your toes to you shin it will hurt a lot until you hit full stretch and the pain will instantly stop hold until you fell like it’s gone

    Try this, the second you feel a leg cramp as I call them, or charlie horse or muscle spasm, tense all the leg muscles yourself-stronger than the leg cramp as hard as you can-and you will overpower the muscle spasm and feel instant relief. I swear it works for me every time!

      I believe it, because I have flexed my foot a certain way and it has helped before. I will try this next time. Had one the last two nights

      Sometimes that can make it worse. It depends on which direction you bend your foot.

    I kick with my ankle while forcing to stretch my leg and the cramp will be interrupted. This is my method. Then i take a magnesium carbon tablet.

    The first time I got one of these I just sort of ignored it for like 5 minutes and then I forced it back into place and it stopped hurting, hurt kinda bad but its manageable.

    When this happens to me I relax my mind I think of clouds and me relaxing and my body completely relaxes taking away tension from my leg

      @@luisv.7428 I found drinking coconut water to be effective. I can't imagine trying applying it. I doubt that application would have any effect.

    We all now know what got them out of bed early in the morning, each other. For the Charlie Horse try to eat a banana an hour before bed. When they happen I bend my toes towards my knee and massage the knot out of my calf with hand.

    I honestly just punch wherever it is (usually my calves) repeatedly really really hard, for about fifteen seconds and it's gone. I've tried this on my husband and if hasn't worked on him though. Idk why. 🤷 It works for me everytime.

    I can't be the only one that is able to "hold in" a Charley horse. If I stretch my leg in bed and I feel one coming on, I just avoid bending my knee, push out my heel, and rotate my foot so my toes are as far up (close to my shin) as possible. Hold that pose for a few seconds, and the painful part of the cramp never happens. You'll feel the spasm just sorta giving up.

    I agree.The only thing he missed was the shoes that you were to work out. I was wearing some pretty cheap shoes and I kept having issues with cramping .I got a trainer and he laughed at my shoes. 😂 So now I buy better brands for working out.

    I work overtime every week doing electrical labor. I may not work out but i get plenty of exercise. I got a charly hourse last night that literally had me screaming at 330 in the morning and still slightly hurting at 1pm.
