Johnny let his guests go with whatever they were saying. He didn't have to be the center of attention. I miss that. He didn't compete with his guests.

You obviously never saw him when he wasn't performing - I have. What I saw was a humble, polite, quiet, and very mannerly person. And I saw him in comedy meetings with writers and other comedians whjen they were talking about sketches, techniques, etc. Again, the last one to talk - and no craziness or criticisms - just thoughtful, quiet comments.
You should be careful about trying to "diagnose" a comedian this experienced, and this brilliant. His mind moved like lightning all the time - but when he was performing, that brilliance was turned into a "stream of consciousness" that was nevertheless under the control of a higher function.
Like most extremely brilliant people, his mind was multilayered, and it was also - UNLIKE many people on his level - always under control. He knew exactly when to stop, and revert to being a guest. Watch him, instead of trying to JUDGE him. You are NOT, I guarantee you, smart enough to "diagnose" someone who was disciplined enough to be an incredible actor, as well as a gifted comedian - which, if he had the condition you state with such assurance, he could not have done or been - acting takes discipline, patience, attention to the director and other actors, to the smallest details, and incredible expressive and memory skills to be a good at (the opposite of his comedian persona), and if you have seen any of his movies, you will know what a truly gifted actor he was.

I grew up on this, and miss impromptu comedy….those that didn’t experience this LIVE, IMO missed out on so much in life.
I’m not certain when ppl became or felt like they needed to be offended, but it’s shameful. ITS CALLED COMEDY….COMEDY RELIEF….To give you relief from the daily grind that life hands you. If you didn’t experience ppl like Dangerfield, Robin Williams, Jonathon Winters, Jackie Gleason, Abbott & Costello, Sam Kinison, John Candy, you’ve missed out on a magical moment and a wonderful time in life for comedy.
I regret deeply, that most of the greats are gone. I miss them all dearly.

I'm from Appalachia, too, but I don't think my accent is as deep as hers! Unless I concentrate on it! I worked in a call center once, & I couldn't even count how many people remarked how they loved my accent!! I kinda like it myself! 😉 I wish I could tell Jonathan that we got it right the first time at Chickamauga! At least he pronounced it correctly!! I live next door to Chickamauga & have spent much time in the Battlefield Park! So I AM a bit biased I guess!

Josh, thank you for this 34:06. I've seen it before (years ago) but for some reason I not only laughed and laughed some more, but a streak of sorrow kept poking it's nose into all the fun. This was all about watching three geniuses and Robin, Jonathan and yes, Johnny were at the top of their games. This video probably belongs in a special library of fine arts or something.
    Thank you, again.

This show could almost have been made now! Roe v Wade - and the source of one of Robin's quick thinking and hilarious comments. Clarence Thomas's hearing for becoming a Supreme Court Justice, so many other moments!
