Yes, you can use this air compressor with the SPRAYIT SP-33000 LVLP Spray Gun. You will only (most likely) depending the the coating and CFM of the motor/pump, use the air from the air tank. Once the air pressure in the tank drops too low you will need to wait for the air tank to refill.
I can confirm you can spray a car with an LVLP gun, I just used my sprayit 3300 on my little bostitch compressor from lowes and did my front bumper and rear license plate section. It looks almost factory in quality. I sprayed primer, base and clear with the same gun and same 1.3 tip. Only issue was the compressor would get low on pressure before I finished each coat so I had to spray half then wait about 20 seconds for it to catch up then finish, but it still came out great, didn't cause any problems was just a matter of convienence. For a whole car I would get a larger tanked compressor but for single body parts it's not a problem
Johnny the SPRAYIT SP-33000 operates between 3.5 & 3.9 CFM @ 30 PSI. Depending on the type of latex paint and how heavy the latex paint is that you are using the air compressor should have enough air delivery.
Johnny, We always reccomend that you contact the paint manufacture and ask them to suggest the correct tip size for the coating that you are going to use.
The CAT-3010 Air Compressor will work well with the SPRAYIT SP-33000 as long as you use light to medium coatings. For heavy coatings such as latex paint a 2.0 Hp air compressor is reccomened.
Owner of CAT compressor, happy camper. I got this gun without knowing that you are the manufacturer, I am impressed with your company. I have an in issue with the tip; it's impossible to unscrew so that I clean it after usage or replace it with a different size tip. I have the wrench, I have been able to disassemble the rest of the gun, but the tip is not going anywhere. Am I missing something? Is the tip perhaps not removable?
Yes, an air compressor is needed for this spray gun. A 1.0 Hp like the California Air Tools 8010 is good for light coatings like stains and the California Air Tools 10020C (2.0 hp) is good for heavy coatings like latex paints.
To help with this issue we suggest the following. 1. Always strain your paint before putting into the spray gun cup. 2. Open the cup and stir the paint and or dilute the paint a little to allow the heavier coating to flow more smoothly.
We do not suggest using an LVLP gun. Gelcoats typically require an HVLP gun using a 3.0 to 3.5 nozzle tip and a HUGE air compressor to drive them (i.e. >15 cfm).
Looks like you have to hold the gun real close to the surface. Looks like 2 inches in this video. Is this particular to LVLP? I know that HVLP distance is usually 10-12 inches. Thx.
Yes you are correct. Most spray guns should be uses at 10"-12" to produced a nice finish. When spraying smaller areas like the hand truck in the video. We suggest moving closer to your surface, turn down you air and fluid controls to control the pattern better for a good finish without overspray or dripping.
I've been researching this for the last 3-4 years and I'm simply worn out trying to find the right combination of spray gun & air compressor. So, as an apartment dweller, this type of spray gun (LVLP) is ideal for my needs. I'm a hobbyist who build and fly scale model airplanes. I'm tired of using a paint brush and hate the finished paint job. So as an apartment dweller I need 2 things, a "quiet" air compressor & a decent LVLP spray gun like the one in this video. Since California Tools sells both products, would it be possible for California Tools to recommend a combination air compressor & spray gun? A system that will meet the needs of a hobbyist.
We recommend one of our 2.0 Hp Ultra Quiet Air Compressors with the SP-33000 LVLP Spray Gun if you plan on using heavy coatings such as latex paint. If you are using stains or lighter coating the California Air Tools 1.0 Hp Ultra Quiet Air Compressors work well.
californiaairtools Yep, you just verified my wishlist. I'm saving money now for: California Air Tools CAT-10020 air compressor & the SPRAYIT SP-33000 LVLP spray gun. My current & favorite paint of choice is an epoxy paint made/distributed by KLASS KOTE. Thanx-a-bunch!!!
I got a question im going to spray a body kit for my car and with this gun whats the best size suggested for an air compressor and will it spray automotive metallic color no issues?

Thank you
Airborne Mike have you ised it?
californiaairtools do you have a direct link to purchase this gun?
Working or operating pressure is between 28 - 45 PSI depending on the coating.
Maximum pressure is 60 PSI.
Maximum CFM is 3.9 CFM @ 30 PSI
28 seems high for lvlp.i do 22
NOTE: The SP-33000 gun has now been replaced by the CAT-33000 spray gun: th-cam.com/video/6OEuykbsgbY/w-d-xo.html

I have a large compressor. an interesting gun with a small flow rate of air and material (to save). which spraygun can you recommend?
SPRAYIT SP-33000K LVLP Spray Gun Kit. Great for coating from stains to latex paints.
is the compressor purchased separately ?

Yes, 2.0 Tip.
