Duuuuudes, thank you so so much for the love, you’re a couple of beautiful people. That is the way I like it, 100% and a DP sandwich everyday 😅. And the DP boost side is really designed to give you that huge fat clean when you’re playing alone, which we do a lot in our videos of course, it makes any clean boring amp sound heavenly:), and it makes any Strat or tele bloom, instant Mayer tone, it’s like an always on thing. I will run it level at 9 and lows at 3 for that.. And if I wanna use it as a boost for the drive side I would do it the other way around. But now the HC clipping is on it I love using that when I boost the drive side, exactly for the reason you guys say. The other thing I do is have drive pedal on each side of the Dane and that way I have the boost after a drive (like you guys like it, you weirdoes :). Thank you again and let’s hang soon please. Luv ya💜

The main thing about the original Ross line was that I was young and money was scarce and Ross and DeArmond pedals were cheaper than MXR.

The Meteore low fi takes one to sixties film and, if you were alive to hear it, a low fi experience. This does a stellar job of recreating that "budget" "low fidelity" recording era. It really does take you to a place in time.

This is *proper* TPS... the other shows were great but this is the meat and potatoes of the channel. The inspiration you got from the Meteore is exactly how I feel every time I use the Rubberneck.

So glad to see a Caroline pedal on here. Meteore is so unique, Somersault is a lush chorus/vibrato, despite being labelled also as 'low fi'.' Would love to hear you play the Shigeharu fuzz too, its basically a tube screamer into big muff sound, love how it retains clarity and fuzziness. The labeling on the pedals can be a bit annoying, but they're always a lot of fun

I got the Meteore and Kilobyte, about a decade ago, and the Kilobyte has never left my board.
The Meteore only leaves the board, if I’m in a cover band, and I need very specific reverbs, that are easier to do with a multi-effect.
Though, I’ve gotten through cover gigs with just the Meteore.
It works like different types of delay, based on how the controls are set, and it’s nice having the havoc switch for getting cool sound effects, or a ending and even with the Kilobyte, I can set it up to do very unique lead tones.
      Killer builder.

In the early 70’s I liked fuzz face, Maestro phaser, Echoplex and cranked Marshalls. Today my simple board is Wah (Real McCoy), Anologman Sunface (NKT), Believe (octave), & FoxRox Aquavibe. My amp (Carr Rambler) has a great reverb & tremolo. When I want experimental I have a chain of pedals that range from Strymon to Chase Bliss to Keeley to (fill in the blank) which are on three different loaded pedalboards that can be connected in any order. The one constant is that I still prefer physical pedals over plug-ins.

I think the words you were both looking for with the memory man comparisons are “it’s very close but not exactly the same” and Dan has had his for so long and he knows it so well he immediately keys into the “it not exactly same”. Someone who didn’t have that experience could probably play the new one and be really happy with it.
For the record, what I really heard on the recording was it seemed like the modulation intensity was almost volume dependent old one (to my ear the notes smoothed as they were held on the old one) and the new one the modulation was very consistent. Which could be very different than in person.

I’m happy with what I’ve got so not overwhelmed by all the stuff coming out. It’s just fun to see how things develop. I have so much I can do with what I’ve got it would be bonkers to buy more stuff for some time. I appreciate I might be in the minority. With the modulation on, there was no chorus-y “swoosh” on EITHER output, so the phase inversion actually happened acoustically between the two amps, or amp/PA. Totally different, and way more subtle than other stereo pedals that swoosh on both outputs.

Hi fellas,... a bit of advice in jumper'ing a 4 Input configuration... when you plug into two jacks of one side, it makes both jacks Lo sensitivity... like your plugging one cable into the Lo sensitivity... we all know when we plug into the Lo Sensitivity it's much lower volume and you lose a bit of presence... that being the case I suggest you try plugging into both jacks of the 'Normal' Inputs, and jumper to the Hi Sensitivity Input of the 'Bright' Volume... you will get more presence and sparkle from the amp. And then turn up the Normal volume to fill in the bottom frequencies... Also, if you're wanting to drive the amp into distortion by turning it up and driving it with your guitar; you will get far more harmonic content in the mids and upper mids with this method of jumpering... not saying you're doing it wrong,... however you may enjoy the tones more this way... thank you both for giving us all some of the very best content on TH-cam week after week... y'all are awesome !! Cheers and have a great weekend !!

It has been a very long time since you guys have come up against a preconception & watching it be shattered by inspiration was wonderful to see. Now Dan can jump down the Lo-Fi rabbit hole and emerge a shoegazer.

Can't believe Mick made it to 15:58 without doing the Grissom lick... Baby steps...

As ever, but more so for this comparison-focused episode, it gave me a landmark of “oh, THAT’s the sound of this particular pedal”

the new format really works, but never lose the tangents and experiments - your best ideas and observations usually pop out there. as to the questions - the jaw-dropper for me was the ross re-release! it destroyed the original one(amazing)trick pony. a real 70's distortion/overdrive - yet with loads more facets, and applications. and i agree with Dan the old deluxe memory-man is breathtakingly beautiful - crystalline in a room or studio, but absolutely useless live. the playing got crazy good on the delay and reverbs. another great show chaps - i always expect at least an hour with you two - no need to apologise for that - i suspect all your other fans love it as well...

I don’t think you’ve ever done any reviews of BOO pedals. But I may be wrong. I have the Tremolo and it’s great. Made in England as well. Cheers from Australia.

Interestingly I have used the meteore for years. The thing about that belton brick is that it really does sound- despite what Caroline fx say about the intent- like a real spring reverb. To me what is awesome about real spring is the sense of space- it's less to do with the spoingy tone and more to do with the visceral sense of space that real things give you. I also have the UAD Golden and an actual Fender 63 reverb tank. The Golden is what I use for recording, and Caroline for live. I think what I've realized over time is that it sounds weird to me for my guitar- live- to sound super hi fi. In fact, I don't want to really hear "everything" in my guitar when I'm standing in front of the amp. What I like about the Meteore is that it smooths the hi end out, and especially when you hit it with drive/ fuzz, it sort of steps out of the way- while the UAD gets all messy sounding-

Maybe Imm hearing things, but the old memory man seems like it almost has just the tiniest, shortest hair more feedback on its modulation. I’m thinking that -maybe- that, is where a good chunk of the difference comes from, at least to my ear. It’s a very, very subtle thing, but it creates a shockingly large difference in how it modulates as notes decay. Could just be the waveform being slightly different that I’m hearing, but I think the modulation has a little bit of “ring” to it on the vintage unit, whereas the nano has a very clean, tame mod.
Beyond that, once the boost was introduced, the nano was like 95% there, and I’m sure that number could go up or go down depending on the particular vintage unit being compared.
Awesome video, awesome tones, and I’m too poor to want a Heavy Water as much as I do now

The difference between the DMMs is that the front of the note in the repeat is more muted in the small one campared to the big box (i think).
Try it out and listen for it, do tell if that’s the case:)
    Great video as always!

You almost certainly covered this before, but I'd love a show on beautiful unpotted microphonic PAF pickups, and how to minimise noise on a dual-amp pedalboard setup. The other day I thought I'd put together the best rig ever, but I couldn't use the guitar I wanted to. Normal house, lights, computers, fans, etc., louder than the guitar signal 😥
