    Thank you so much for this! Poor you! I thought I was bad but I'm nearly symptom free after two years. It's definitely possible to recover! You are amazing!

    I get so close and the final step of thinking "is this OCD or not" weighs on me sometimes. I try to think of it as any other ocd thought and not engage and accept but its a trigger to go backwards

      Hey John, so the work on unconditional self and life acceptance means we no longer are highly concerned if it’s ocd or not so that our response is rational in the same way a person without ocd would think about the scenario. “I wouldn’t like it but hey, couldn’t control that if it happened I’m going to leave it alone as I won’t get any certainty on this”.

    Thank you for sharing your experience! I can relate to it to a great deal. My coping mechanism unti now was to stay busy and achieve professional succes, but this is very tiring on the medium to long term and puts a strain on personal life. One has to take time, let loose and fight the OCD head on eventually. There right time for this is now and don't mind to start slowly.

    This was a wonderful video. Thank you so much Jade. You have a beautiful spirit and you give me much hope. I can tell from what you said you understand the depths of my suffering. I particularly like what you said about having grit. I’m going to have grit and make recovery my number one focus. Slow and steady.😊

    Such a great video, thank you for motivating me and giving me hope today! I have had a couple of really sticky themes during my life, and I've managed to overcome some themes completely (no anxiety around those anymore) but ROCD is a really tricky one. Would love to hear more about what exposures you did for that one, or whether it was mainly unconditional acceptance that got you through it. 😊

      Hey Joanna, sure I’ll schedule in a video covering ROCD and the sorts of exposures I did as well as how I used unconditional life acceptance to make peace with the fear “what if I’m missing out, what if I made the wrong partner choice” and how that doesn’t frighten me anymore so my ocd has calmed around that issue. A big one with rocd for me was also turning down the heat in my brain on wanting perfection in a relationship and reframing “needs” as preferences. I would prefer if x,y, or z were true of my relationship or partner but I don’t need that to be happy , since there is so much more to life than my relationship. I’m so glad to hear you’re conquered lots of themes - you should be really proud ☺️

      Hi Marni, I’m pleased it was helpful in some small way to hear my journey ☺️. Sure I’ll cover exposures and avoidance in an upcoming video - i don’t go into detail on exact scenarios and exposures because ocd often wants to hear exact scenarios the same as our own so that we feel relief but it’s always temporary- that said I can definitely share how I tackled these areas as I know it would have been useful back when I was having so many difficulties. Thanks for the great idea 🙏

    Great video! Your videos are always very inspiring and motivating. How often/many times per day/week did you do exposures? I’m trying to do ERP but don’t want it to become compulsive.

    I am so pleased that you are so much better now. Apart from the age difference we are so alike. Postnatal depression, what your mind can make you believe etc. People like all of you who are part of OCD Recovery gives the rest of us so much help because we know you all have come through this terrible condition. Thankyou. My ocd is about my bodly symptoms saliva and the fact that the anxiety causes dry mouth which my brain says you will never be able to stop noticing this.

      Hi Anne, I’m so pleased to hear that it’s helpful to watch the videos on this channel. I know that Nick suffered very badly with saliva fears and he is doing incredibly well today - when you’re really in it there doesn’t feel like a way out. The deeper perspective I have on life as a result of the extreme suffering is something I wouldn’t trade for anything so please keep hope that you can get better and that it will be worth it and you’ll actually have so much as a result of having been on this journey 🥰

      @@annecampbell2891 hi Anne, the swallowing and saliva thing is my “OCD of choice “ as well. I have been afraid of it my entire adult life. I will go long stretches where it goes away but it’s always in the background, waiting to come back. Finding this channel a few weeks ago is literally a life changer for me. I still have the symptom but my perspective is changing : 1. Because I now know it’s an actual disorder.!!!!!!
      2. Many other normal people have this symptom which I have been afraid of and ashamed of my whole life. This is huge!!! It takes much of the fear out of it, the strangeness. I lived in bewilderment for so long, all the while functioning at a very high level. I literally felt like I was leading a double life! With this dirty secret. How could someone as “with it “ as me have this weird ridiculous obsession??It’s like being a closet alcoholic. Finding Nick has been huge. As I said, I’m just beginning the work but I already feel a paradigm shift. I hope you will too.❤️

I am 70 years old and have a good family yet because my childhood was not good when this last 3 years things happened a really bad depression came in and then anxiety with ocd. i have worked my way through a few themes but saliva one lingers. It is thanks to My faith in Jesus plus People like Rob ,Nick, Paul etc at OCD recovery i am able to keep going. So please do not give up you are neither weird nor crazy. You have a disorder which as Rob says he has never come across anyone with this disorder who could not be treated successfully. You are part of a world wide family with this ocd and i and i am sure everyone else loves you and wishes you a healthy future. Sorry this is so long.

    Hi Jade- thank you for your videos. My ocd started when I was pregnant with my first child (about 6 years ago). In an instant, while talking with someone, I had a thought that terrified me and it would not go away- caused me to panic and avoidance, constant mental reviewing, and reassurance seeking followed. I’ve been in therapy for over a year now. I’m somewhat better, but I still struggle with getting triggered in front of other people in social situations- especially if anyone arounds me notices and asks the dreaded “are you okay?” question. Any advice on how to handle these situations? I feel like my anxiety/panic automatically gets worse when people notice- and I feel extreme embarrassment.

    Hi. A question to anyone. How did you do to get on on life with OCD?
    For example, I've realised that it gets worse when I'm not doing things I like. For example, right now I am not happy with my career so I am a bit depressed so the cycle of obsessions and free time gets bigger.

    Hi! I have ROCD and many other forms of OCD but this year it’s been only relationship related. Right now I feel numb. I don’t have any sort of feelings, I don’t even have much intrusive thoughts, I just feel like Inhaber no feelings at all… I’m not excited… upset, sad or happy. I’m not sure how to recover from it… also in under SNRIs but I’ve been feeling like this since long time. Did you have this „phase“ too?

    Hello I’ve been struggling with contamination ocd and other subtypes. Mainly contamination ocd the problem im having is semen ocd it’s a love hate relationship I just don’t like it even though I enjoy the act and I’m scared that I may have contaminated myself or even other with it even though I’m sure I washed my hands it killing me everyday I’m always thinking about it and I just feel dirty what would be the exposure therapy for this type of ocd

    Does it genuinely get easier to do things like leave the house? I feel like even when I conquer a fear, I’m scared all over again the next time I need to face it.

      Hey Amanda, it definitely gets easier yes. It can feel like with each thing we try we just sink back to that scary place even further - I certainly had to feel a whole lot worst before I started to get better. It was a mixture of two things - wanting to do the recovery work no matter how bad I felt and no matter what it threw at me. The second was no longer minding if anxiety were there or not - same how a boxer would continue in the fight even if they are nearing collapse - I didn’t want to live with ocd suffering anymore to the point I’d do anything to move forward.       @@jadet1337 that’s a great analogy of the boxer in the ring. It does feel that way with anxiety. I feel like I’m not gonna make it sometimes bc the symptoms are so bad. I am sort of starting to get to the point of accepting whatever my symptoms do to me. I can’t believe how much practice it takes to fix this. Thafs why I thought I wasnt getting better. Hearing your experience really made me understand I haven’t failed at this. It actually does just take a lot of time and is insanely hard.

    Hi Jade, I’m a young mom suffering with Suicidal themed OCD & Existential OCD… the one i’m having trouble with accepting and just saying “oh i wouldn’t want that to happen but if it did it’s not that big of a deal” is the suicidal one because it’s hard to wrap my head around my baby not having a mama… & me not being here on earth. It actually terrifies me that i may one day just decide to do this… finding exposures to do around this theme is also very hard & tricky to do!

      i also am a stay at home mom so i spend a lot of time alone and i have a fear of getting super depressed and then eventually actually WANTING to end my life! i’ve been doing therapy for a month now & we first started with acceptance and commitment therapy and we just started doing some ERP!
