    I had weed induced DP/DR last month, like most people i thought i was stuck in that state forever. Thankfully the symptoms started subsiding little by little over the course of two weeks. As soon as i was able to recognize that my anxiety fed the disorder and learned to ignore the strange symptoms then i noticed i got a lot better. Also, realizing that my brain did this in order to protect me was very comforting, to anyone reading this, it WILL get better. Be patient and please do not spend time on DP/DR forums, it will only prolong your recovery. Oh and do not gauge yourself to see if you are feeling better, simply go about your day and distract yourself by doing daily tasks or talking to friends. I believe in you. You are real. This commment is real. This beautiful world is real.

    Im crying watching this. Im only 17 and I feel like this has ruined my life. I want to find a DPDR specialized therapist online but am not sure how. I don't want to waste my single mom's money. I have had anxiety since I was a child, and got it from weed. I likely would've gotten it eventually though. I can't get a job because I can't focus at all. I've been pushing myself recently, to leave the house since I'd almost got agoraphobia. I likely have ADHD since I was told to get tested, and have had intrusive thoughts for the longest. These make it harder to deal with it. I wish I had someone in my area who knew how to help me instead of telling me to go in patient at a hospital where people don't even know what I'm going through

      This sounds really tough and I’m so sorry to hear you’re experiencing this. I’m not a medical professional by any means, but I don’t think seeing a specialist would be a waste of money for you. My personal tip would be to try to find someone who specialises in these conditions rather than general CBT. Additionally, Shaun’s DP manual was a huge step in my recovery and is super reassuring, definitely worth the investment. Look after yourself ❤️

      @@ellieking5385 My biggest issue is finances. I have a single mom who works long hours, and provides for 3 girls including me. My oldest sister is in rehab and my mom pays for her as well. My family suffers from a rare hereditary disease called SCA2 which messes with balance and vision and will eventually disable you. My father is feeling the effects of it now and broke his foot and dislocated his knee when falling. So now my mom has no financial support. She does everything she can to help but I feel like me living is such a burden. I feel because of my mistake of trying weed I've made my family's life harder, and ruined my own. I wish I could afford these things, I really do. I've messaged therapist that specialize in DPDR asking if they could refer me to someone who accepts insurance since most are extremely pricey. Later found they don't answer DMs. With summer here DPDR is such a harder battle, more noises, outings, stress, etc.

      @@poffstarr5897 You haven't ruined anything buddy and like you said, it was coming sooner or later, and you'll understand how amazing it changes your perspective on things as you recover!
      Trust me when I say this, I understand very well what you're going through (for going through it at about the same age)
      This might sound weird to you right now, but trust me, it is that simple; getting over DP is just like getting over an ex! 😁 You start ignoring the anxious feeling, and the intrusive thoughts as much as you would ignore your feelings of .. you missing youe ex .. you remembering the moments, you feeling like you need a hug from her - exactly the same except the latter is not as intense as the anxious feelings of DP. But, it is as annoying, as persistent - even as truthful as it seems .. when you're missing her, you're like; god I 100% love her, but once you get a non-bias perspective on it you're like; nah, I will go do something better.
      That's all you need to do, go do something better, like trying to get a job, so what if you might not be the best employee at first? Its okay, who knows, you might be afterall, right? 😁❤️

      @@englisherno I have no transportation since my mom works such long hours, and definitely cannot drive. I'm actually not experiencing DPDR currently just bad anxiety afterwards from episodes that turn into episodes. The DP will appear out of nowhere it seems. Happened while I was smiling hard staring out the window going somewhere. Now I just live in fear because I don't know what triggers it sometimes. I feel so much better when I have someone to open up to and want to start therapy ASAP because of it! My day to day anxiety has made it to where I cant eat, I shake uncontrollaby, I get increasingly anxious before bed and I'm not sure why because I'm normally pretty calm and then it happens randomly. It's so unpredictable, and I've became obsessed with it. I'm accepting it now, I relax when it comes, I dont fight it but it's still there and it seems to be the center of my life even when I'm not experiencing it.

    Your videos and manual have helped me so much. I can't thank you enough. I developed dp/dr from a panic attack after having a bad drug experience. First 2 months where absolutely hellish. But since then I've gotten about 90% out of this ! My question is, once the anxiety is gone from the feeling, is it normal for the dp "vision" and exstential thoughts to linger a bit ? My anxiety about the condition is pretty much gone and at this point it's just kind of an annoying nuisance. But the wierd intrusive and exstential thoughts still linger in my head along with the vision. Thank you for your time and thank you so much for your channel you are doing great work!

    • @ellieking5385
      @ellieking5385 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Jacob!! Aware that Shaun may be better able to answer this than myself. However, for me personally, I did deal with the vision issues and existential thoughts longer than I did other DPDR symptoms, 100%. But the fact you have recovered from many symptoms but just have these lingering is amazing progress and should not be taken lightly. The more you reflect and see you’ve come so far you’ll be able to see it’s possible to get over this final hurdle. Ultimately for me, as Shaun says in his manual, it was all about distraction. If I focus hard enough I can still see DPDR things in my vision, like floaters, but I never notice them anymore because everyone gets these, we just don’t focus on them! Take care of yourself x

      Cigarettes are a stimulant that do affect your nervous system. When DpDr happens you’re usually at your limit with stress and anxiety that your mind tries to check you out. If possible I would try my hardest not to smoke. It will be very hard because your used to smoking probably as millions of people are but that’s okay.
