- In this weeks video I share some exciting news with you! The kittens are born, new life on the homestead. I also work in the garden and place some new planters on my cottage wall. Nikki you have such a beautiful life there. Your videos have quickly moved to my number one spot. I can't wait to see what you are up to each week. I'm so sorry about the kitten. As you probably know kittens can't regulate their body temperature so moving them inside was perfect. I have a few outside cats I feed and had spayed. Before I got the last one spayed she had two kittens. The smallest one was sickly so my daughter took it to work with her (she's a vet tech) but it died. We did everything we could but it was too sick. It always breaks my heart because life is so precious. Each little life is worth saving in my opinion. Anyway, I love the guinea pig enclosure! My sister had guinea pigs as pets for years and they have the sweetest personalities and she truly enjoyed having them. Oh yes, and I love the farm sounds. Love your videography, love your choice of music. You are so talented. You are a treasure of a person.

Dear Nikki... I'm so sorry about the loss of one of the kittens. I think that moving them inside was a great idea, at least for now. The guinea pig enclosure looks absolutely awesome and they will love it once you are ready for them ! Your little planters on your cottage also look great. You can never have to many plants in my opinion 🌼🌸

The guinea pig enclosure looks great and the little wooden box is so cute. Glad the kittens are doing okay, they just need to get a little stronger. Watching you is like watching myself, I also love animals, being outdoors in nature, growing flowers and lots of other plants. The weather where I live, (Virginia, U.S), is also crazy, it is very hot and humid for the next two months or more. There are scary thunderstorms and pour down heavy rains. I live alone with my two dogs in a little cabin and it is scary during the storms because my cabin is small. Thanks for sharing your way of living with all your animals. 😊

I'm in Upstate New York....and we are very hot and humid as well. I do NOT prefer the heat,
and I suspect I am not as tolerant as you are of it. I notice in your videos, that when you are
outside working on a project, that many times your horses and even some of your chickens
sort of hang around, watching you - maybe wondering what "Mom" is up to! :) I get such
a kick out of that. I also like how Milky your cat stops around for pets as well.....I suspect
that she is an attention hog :)
The images and the music in your videos, are like a mini-vacation for me......away from

Thank you so much! I'm able to get used to the heat pretty quickly, but when it's crazy hot, I do need to wait for it to cool down a bit at night to do some work. Sometimes it's just to hot. So sorry about the little kitty. Sad when one is lost. When our cat had kittens and they needed more room to move around in we used a kids playpen. Gives them room to walk around yet they can’t get out. Your photography is beautiful. Loved the rain on the trees. Thank you for sharing your way of life and home. I love seeing places I’ll never get to see otherwise.

I live in Latvia, so it's also Europe, and not even very far from the Netherlands, so I am extra curious about the weather. We've had a terrible heat wave, and now the last couple of days have been a bit wetter, which is a huge relief. It is amazing to hear about your weather conditions and to compare with ours.
Nikky, I am so happy and interested in the growth of your channel - I remember the subscriber number being pi (3.14) and today it's 4,6. It's amazing, and I see you've been making videos for quite some time now, so I really really hope you start to see some money from this.
As for the kittens - it's nice to see baby animals, and I really love your down-to-earth attitude - yes, it may be sad to lose baby animals, but life is like that. Especially life in the country. I am really inspired by your friendly attitude towards all animals and I have made a decision to prepare a coop and get chickens next spring. It can be tricky as the winters are bitterly cold in Latvia, so I have to take real good care building the coop so they are warm in winter, but I've made the decision. I love watching chickens.
I like your channel so much. I'm looking forward to your videos every Sunday. I'd love to know more about your filming gear someday.

Your animals are all beautiful! I have 3 dogs and I feed birds and fish and one snapping turtle. This year, I’ve been fortunate to have 2 baby squirrels come to my bird feeders! These baby squirrels are beautiful and I’ve so enjoyed them, watching them eat and play in the trees and bushes every morning. Your one horse is more than beautiful, if that’s even possible. ❤

I'm so sorry you lost your tiny tiger. It's nature's way, but sometimes it's an unhappy way. I accidentally stepped on a grasshopper I've been hand-feeding the other day and felt like a monster -- but that was my fault. Life can be so delicate and so brutal. So can humans. I'm so glad you're out there doing everything you do for animals in need. It brings some much-needed balance back into the world.

You are very welcome! You are very right. Ah, I'm sorry about the grasshopper, but you tried your best and thing can happen. But I understand how you feel, it's just because we care so much about it. We want to do our best. I try to do my best as well and I'm happy it shows. Somebody commented about it being cruel they are in a cage inside, which made me really sad. The kittens are still far to weak to walk around and the cage gives them safety. I know everybody just wants to help, but the reading those words about it being cruel can really get to me, so I'm so happy with your comment, it means a lot. Thank you so so much ❤️

We have been having very, very HOT weather here in Pennsylvania....98 degrees and very humid....not pleasant to be out doors. (a friend in the U.S.)

Hello again Nikky ☺. The love and tenderness you show towards your animals makes me cry. Poor fur baby, it wasn't meant to be 🐱. And Mum Mocha (?) was struggling to feed the ones she already has ( with your help of course). The nature/landscape visuals are getting better and better. I know guinea pigs can dig but could they climb the fence? You may need a double layer roof on the guinea house, if water drips from the big tree 🌳. The plant you planted is known as a Budddleia in the UK, great for butterflies 🦋 and bees 🐝. Take care ...

I get that and I love that people want to help make sure every animal is getting what it needs and I also understand that it might look bad in a cage or crate. I just saw a comment from somebody about it being cruel and I understand where it comes from, but I just try my best to keep them safe and take the best care of them. Your comment really helps, so thank you! I looked it up and contacted my vet, and it seems like Guinea pigs are not able to climb at all, and this is 40 cm high, so it should be fine. If I notice one being very ambitious, I will put a netting over the whole enclosure for extra safety. Ah, yes, Buddleia, that's the one. Thank you so much. ❤️
@@nikkydegraaf Thanks for replying Nikky☺. My kits Tally and Luna are indoor cats and have an outside Cattery for warmer weather days. They are 12years old now. They were rescue cats and are very timid and not able to be robust outdoor Kits either. They are very happy and have lots to occupybthem inn the confines of a safe life with me. My home also back son5oma nature reserve so I'm also protecting them from other animals. Sending best wishes xx

Hi Nikky! Those kittens are just precious. I am sorry that one baby did not make it.😢I love how you are caring for them, and keeping them safe, as you do all of your animals. Its beautiful to see. The Guinea pig house is just adorable with the little heart above the door. 🥰 I can't wait to see the kittens thrive and grow bigger. We are having some good weather days here, but there is a hurricane off of Texas and they are predicting we will get some heavy rains from it this week. Mostly it's been hot and very humid here. Summer sure is going by fast here! I love all of the videos you do of the scenery and your animals. You certainly have an eye for videography! By the way I took a look at The Netherlands, through pictures on google, WOW I cant get over the architecture of the buildings! So unique and so, so beautiful. Those canals are amazing. We have no buildings like that here. So unique. Beautiful country your in. I'm curious because I worked for the schools for 10 years, what are schools like there? like elementary through high school? Thank you so much. It is really sad, but unfortunately it can happen sometimes. I try my best, but sometimes it just isn't enough. I hope the weather hasn't been to crazy for you this week, it would be nice if it would be 'normal' for a few weeks. We have had some crazy storms again this week. Thank you, it means a lot, I really appreciate your compliments. I love that you looked at pictures of The Netherlands, the old architecture is amazing and of course I like the landscape as well, but I'm a bit used to it. I think we can find beauty in every country. The school system is a bit different, I think. You go to 'basisschool' from 4 to around 12 years old. After that you have different levels of 'middle school'. Depending on the level you do, you will be between 15 and 18 when you finish and then you can study for a degree if you want and the summer break is around 6 weeks, half of July and august, if I remember correctly. Just a little tid bit if you end up having to replace your little plants in the buckets place some pea gravel on the bottom to help with drainage. Especially because you get a lot of rain.

Hey, welcome here and thanks for the tip! I talked it over with my vet, and he told me it's better to keep them in the space they usually feel good in, so that's what I did. Also, it's not in the rain outside and cold, it's in the outdoor enclosure. They have a warm house in there and the whole enclosure has a good roof, so it doesn't get wet and it's also summer, so it's not that cold either. But I still put them inside anyways, just to make sure. Thank you for watching and subscribing! ❤️

Hi Nikky. The akku-screwdriver is my most important tool in the garden, since I dont have electricity there. Yes please (!) be carfull around the chainsaw. I just fell out of a tree while cutting some branches but to my luck I did the work with pruning shears. Otherwise..... Well, why dont you sleep on your porch? Just put the mattress out under the mosquito net und you will sleep great. The mama cat looks very skinny and needs more and high quality food plus extra calcium now since usual to make all the milk for the little ones. The guinnea pig enclosure looks good but its not safe at all if it stays like that. You wont sit next to it all day and it takes a fox , a rat or a crow only seconds to take or injure a guinnea pig. A pond is dangerous too because of their plump body and short legs guinnea pigs drown quickly, especially if they run or drop in the water in panic because of an intruder. best wishes, WH
Thank you! I try to be as careful as I possible can, and always wear protection if needed. I know she does, she gets special food and nutridrops and I also have food from my vet. I’m always in close contact with them, so I’m definitely on top of the health of my animals. You don’t need to worry about it. I do what I can and I hope you see this as well. And for the guinea pig enclosure, there are no animals right now and probably won’t be in the next weeks, also the pond will just be very shallow for them to be able to safely walk in there as well. It will be a very small amount of water, but i haven’t even started the build yet. Thank you for thinking about my animals, but I do have very close contact with a very good vet team and I’m not scared to spend money on animals as well. I know you mean well and I really appreciate it, but I hope you can see in my videos that I do care for my animals and I try my best to give them the best life I can.
@@nikkydegraaf Dont feel criticized, please, I do see, that you love your animals and want the best for them. I only mention things, you dont mention, so I think I better tell you so that nothing that would hurt you very much, happens. I write from my own experience and had wished sometimes, I had known or got told things instead of making mistakes or by all self educating still dont take everything into perspective. On the other hand you just cant exclude or forsee every single possebility of danger with living creatures because they sometimes do things you would have never thought they are able to do. In my garden right now rats eat themselfs from the outside through the wooden floor of the pidgeon house to get to the pidgeon food. Had I thought that as possible I had put wire mesh inside and outside on the floor. Outside is not possible anymore so the rats will chew up the floor now. Makes me angry at myself. Best wishes, WH

Yes, I am, I need to. They are just a bit too small and to weak, unfortunately. It sometimes happens when it's the first time, but I try my best to give them the best chance. I hope it works out.

You can get the little bottles and newborn foods in any large pet store or feed store !
I bought the bottle and the feed at the local feed store, in The Netherlands it's often available at all the pet stores or feed / farm stores. Often I have a bottle and some feed ready for when I need it, so I never run out. You never know what happens. ❤️

Animals need shelter and safety, but plenty of room for exercise and play. A cage -inside or outside - seems…a little cruel, sorry😢.
She walks freely in my cottage the whole time, but newborn baby’s need safety before space. They are not even a week old yet. But thank you for caring about them.

Help me with why the cats are in a cage outside?? I do not understand this. 🤔
To keep them safe. If they are freely outside without me being around, they will get attacked by other animals. These types of cats are just to sweet and don’t fight, so they will get hurt or stolen. They also live in my cottage as well, but I like them to have an outside area as well. I just read a comment from someone living in a country where cats are not allowed outside freely, so for some people that could be a reason for other people.
