Thank you, from a composing standpoint I've had the concept for a while now, but for some reason this simple warm up made the concept click from a single instruments standpoint. this will be my new prime exercise for a while.
@2cc1c actually those aren't my words, they're those of juan alderete, the bassist who wrote the part. yes i do mean 9 to 1. why wouldnt i mean that? 32nd notes are 8 to 1 quarter note. so why does 9 to 1 seem farfetched? its a simple triplet type polyrhythm. the song is called scarified, check out the bass solos.
@joerobot32 i know what they are. a ratio to 1 is still a polyrhythm. its just a more common one. besides in one of the bass solos. juan said it himself
@SlapPopStacy - I doubt you are even a musician, most musicians I know are not filled with the kind of self hatred, bigotry and racism you exhibit... And before you get your little boy panties in a real twist, Don't bother responding this... Just look in the mirror...

you're a great teacher!
great!
Good exercise, but watch the timekeeping when you're showing it in slower.
Really nice though, I like it!
this makes my brain hurt. Poly rhythms is a subject that I REALLY want to get down, but its so hard.
@ConBravurabassist its a ratio of how many notes to a beat. so 9 notes in the space of a quarter note for example.
good shit
