I bought this pedal after craving for it for a whole year or so. I love combining it with chorus and delay/reverb to get the Hammond sound or throwing my fuzz in the mix to get a massively fat sound. This pedal is just amazing!
You are a fantastic bassist especialy with the fretless, finally a guy who can use an octave pedal the right way.........I don't understand why all youtube bassist show octave pedals at the 5th fret down instead of past the 12th fret where this pedal ONLY belongs
Nice choice, playing & examples of different tones! I use mine as an "Upper Octave Pedal" as I've been using Effects to simulate an 8 or 12-string bass, or with my 5-strings a 10-string bass. Adding just a little of the Low Octave is great for filling out the tone, and with this you can have the "Octave Bass" effect for part of a song as opposed to being stuck with a physical bass for an entire song
Thanks man, I personally use it in both registers occasionally, but yes the effect is much more evident in the higher register. For the record, I use a Boss OC-2 for the lower octave and the POG for the higher octave, though it is perfectly capable of that low end.
at 2:00 its just the bridge pickup, at 2:30 its the neck pickup, which naturally has a warmer sound. I use this pedal al the time. I use it mostly for the high octave as I have a Boss OC-2 taking care of the lower octave. When I do, the higher octave is only blended about half way, in this video its up all the way.
Only had my Boss OC-3 for a few weeks and I already want this one. By the way, one of your licks in the beginning sounded just like Michael League, who of course happens to use this pedal.
Hi Vince , great test ..only a simple question ! Does the volume change when you "in" the pedal ? Have lots of EHX pedal and it seems all of them do this !! Btw love the sound on the fretless ..and you make it sound great !! BassT from Paris Dario
If I have the "dry" knob all the way up, then I don't hear any drop in volume. It stays equal as long as its all the way up. I pretty much just fiddle with the "sub octave" and "octave up" knobs. "dry" always is full.
Nice test Vince. I love my Aguilar but I find that octave up useful. By the way, the fingerboard on your JB is very shiny : did you change something or it's because of the light?
I also was comparing the MXR pedal with the basic of pedal with the pod and also the boss OC 3. I really don't like the boss octave pedal at all the tracking is terrible! The MXR is great I love that added mid boost feature, but I can do the same thing by boosting the mids on my bass. so once I brought my bass to the music store plugged in the pod, I was definitely sold thanks a lot for the review I love those Lakeland basses that you have.
Im using a epiphone thunderbird and they are really deep low sounding, i dont want to use a p bass even though they are a nice bright warm sound as i love the look of the Tbird so im thinking of getting this pedal to alter the sound somewhat, i run atm, bigMuff, memory toy nano and a muff overdrive nano
Around 2:00 you have a setting where it seems your using the original note, plus the high octave, and the high octave sounds very "processed" or "artificial". Then around 2:30 it appears you are using the same config on the pedal (original note, plus higher octave), but it sounds completely different -warm, 8-stringy, and almost "acoustic" chime. It looks like in both sections you're using the same settings on the pedal. What is different? It looks like you make an adjustment to the bass?
Really? I would assume that a thunderbird has more highs because of the bridge pickup, like a jazz bass. The mahogany body may contribute to that dark tone you're talking about. Either way, the pedal should work fine, as it is a great pedal. Its simply an octave pedal. The tone of your bass can always be shaped by the EQ.
hello there, i'm interested in purchasing the micro pog pedal. Being able to get a +1 octave is the feature i'm looking for. Is it possible to only have the sound of the + 1 octave without the original frequency of the bassplaying at the same time? Looking forward to your reply! Cheers!
yes, each knob is basically a volume control for each of the three signals. dry, sub octave, and octave up, just keep the volume for the sub and dry turned down, and leave "octave up" on. you can use any of the three signals in any configuration. I do just what your asking for at 4:01
Very cool demo! Thanks. I play fretless, and I loved hearing the fretless with this pedal. Great playing, too!
nice playing and nice demo, very helpful!

Awesome chops man! And great showcase of the pedal! I'm really considering buying one of these as my next "big purchase" after I get a new bass.

Thanks for posting this! I think I have a new addition to my wish list!!!
wow, it's tracking is the best! correction that the oc3 doesnt have the higher octave, so it's a ton better in all ways!
agreed. definately the best tracking octave pedal.
Excellent review!
Thanks!
Sold on this pedal! Thanks for the video!
