I did a speaker swap in my F-150 Alpine s-69 (6x9) up front and s-65 in back. Guys, he is not kidding the clarity of the tweeter and the punchy bass are un believable. People ask what kind of amp set up I have, I tell them its just a speaker swap, they can't believe it.
Just got the apline 6.5s right now... hooked them up on my harley... all I can say is WOW. they sound really good. I'd say about as good if not better than my alpine type R neo 6x9s. Very pleased with the sound and they look nice too.

just finished installing front door speakers in my 2000 Blazer with the stock radio ... I installed a pair of Rockford Fosgate R165X3 6.5" 90W 3 Way's...they were a great value and sound really good .......

Have tried many different speakers over the years and recently have put a set of these in my accord and even off the head unit they sound great. Can’t wait to get a amp on them. They sound better then my wife’s infinity kappa running off a alpine amp.
Update now have these in another car being pushed off a kicker 360.4 amp and can confirm they perform great when fed power.
Amazing videos Mike! Thank you for your time and effort! Sadly this speaker is not available in my country and I'm not willing to pay 300+ USD for an international order. Can you please make a single video showcasing best 6.5" and 6x9 speakers for an aftermarket headunit without an external amp or crossovers. like a minimum of 60 RMS examples
I just swapped some of the same kickers for these alpine type s coaxials and man, what a difference. Way better tweeter, mids are much sharper and more crisp with more power handling ability. All around a much better quality and sounding speaker. I had the chance to test against the skar audio tx series(thier best) and absolutely no comparison. Alpine smokes the competition.
I've also noticed no other manufacturer uses flat wind coils like Alpine, which makes more bl product. The quality of the Alpine is above and beyond the competition. Running these in my ford pickup on an infinity kappa k4(100x4 rms), 10" type s on the infinity kappa k one(1000x1 rms) and it sounds fantastic.
I'm buying two more 6x8 pairs for my other superduty, as well as another type s 10" sub for that truck as well. You're getting your $ worth buying the type s. I can vouch for that anydqy.
I’m sold on these for my ridgeline. I’ll be back to say “thank you Mike”.

Kicker has been around for a long time. 30 years ago, you always needed an amp to make the kickers come alive. Doesn't seem like much is changed, kickers still need more power than the others to get it to "kick" i guess

Yes yes it does. In short a stock head unit is built to be as cheap as possible. A new head unit, even a cheap one, will be a huge improvement because the r&d money has only gone into that stereo not an entire vehicle, if that makes any sense.
@@davidlynch5235 yes speakers sound much better with more power. Not only are they louder. But witj more power comes more cone control.

Great review. Just got these based on your recommendation. You can tell right away the quality based on the weight alone. Heavy magnet. I also have the jbl gx. The Alpine has a very up front flat sound perfect for snares and vocals. The jbl are better for bass and loud tweeter but not as good as a mid speaker.

The new alpine type r is great alot better than they have been last few years the knew model is alpine r-s69.2 fro 6x9 and alpine r-s65.2

Hi Mike I want to spend up to 90 so Your best bet is alpine comparing jbls , kickers, pioneers ..etc. but in other of your video Jbl throws best bass You said so im confused ,what to put just replacing 6,5 inch speekers without amp

I have 5 years the focal 130ca1(5,25'') and 690ca1(6x9) and i suffer every day.Very bright sounding speaker.The upper mids and highs (aluminium tweeter) are piercing your ears and your brain.Looking for a speaker with silk dome tweeter for more sweet/soft/smooth highs.Alpine has silk tweeter....

Kenwood XR-1800 7” I have seen them for $105.00 but them seem to be running 119.00 right now the bass is really nice highs are descent. The XR-1701 highs are a lot better I hear $200.00

I got them, like i got many other coaxials.
On real test in sealed speaker box there isnt so much bass like you say. Helix have more and sound louder with clear highs even on low level gain.
Best speaker in low budget is Hertz DCX165.3 did you test it?

In our country and all speakers that we have its the best choice for range under 65 dolars.

Hola, actualmente mi configuración es un stereo sony mex xb 100 bt, entrega 45x4 rms, un sub alpine con potencia monoblock. En la parte delantera componentes infinity de 6.5 de 80 rms, y en la parte de la luneta debo reemplazar el par de parlantes 6.5. Me recomendas que siga trabajando en 3ohms como en la parte delantera, o que los reemplace por alpine ss65. Te felicito, muy buen video. Un saludo desde Argentina.

Just go for the JBL GTO 609c components. They're great speakers play loud and clear. They're going for 80 to $100 on eBay. They don't make them anymore The replacements cost $250 to $300. I'm giving them about 80 Watts RMS.

No polk r way over rated speakers they mostly sound not good as ppl panicking
like what you're doing,just not sure why you don't want to compare the Polks..they claim a better freq response ,have a silk dome tweeter, are 4 ohm.and are $80-$90 and dont need amplofication. Seems like abside by side comparison would be prudent of theie new db652
I test them 3 4 models and they sound like half price speakers maybe new ons better and matches with there specs but will see

Good question. I have those speakers in my car(with no amp yet) with kenwood dmx706s and I’m not satisfied. Too much bass but not accurate on the tweeters.
I’ve ordered infinity kappa 62ix and ppl are saying are far better than those alpine’s. Can’t wait to see if Mike will test them soon..

@@andrect7030 the infinity will probably sound better, because they will draw more power being most jbl/infinity speakers at 3-2 ohms and alpines are 4 ohms. But put a good amp on either one and they should help bring out the mids and highs
@@andrect7030 I believe infinity capers are some of the best especially for clarity but they also get loud. However I can't afford them so I run the JBL GTO 609c components period damn near the same speaker. 3ohm impedance, silk dome Tweeter, composite basket. I also overpower them slightly and they are loud and clear.
Start mixing it up with rock n roll like Seether, Volbeat or 5 finger death punch.

the alpine is bumping. Anyone puts 3 stars must not be running an amp. Kicker sucks. I don't care what Kicker it is .. it sucks. I'll take Pioneer TS-A652C or Pioneer TS-A1600C over those stupid Kickers.
--I use DopplerFX to do blind tests. I listen, pick A/B for each song, then watch the vid again but this time look at which speaker I chose. In the vid above, Alpine S65C vs. Pioneer TS-A1600C, Pioneer 6, Alpine 3, 1 draw.
--Only thing with the Alpines is that it doesn't seem to play fine sounds, like Techno music ... would be missing some sounds that a higher sensitivity speaker or different cone and/or copper voice coil would play. Am I wrong?

---I narrowed it down. RF P600X4, Orion XTR 100.4 or the 750.4. I actually can't decide between them.
The Rockford has a lot of technology, but the Orion is old-school class A/B amp without any special things, other than balanced inputs.
---Maximo run 90w RMS, so I'm looking for something capable of 110-130 w RMS plus can handle techno music fast music changes.
--Any thoughts? I see a lot of people like the JL AudioRD 400/4, but It's a class D. I heard someone said JL, Rockford, and JBL make the best class D amp that sound as good as A/B, but I don't know. Can't find anything stating JBL class D has output filters that work great

i had all 4 speakers blown out in my 07 gmc 1500 from previous owner, bought 2 of these and threw them in the front doors so far (got them for 60 bucks!)
They sound really good, my aux is quiet in my vehicle - but the radio bangs. Memphis/phonk sounds great if you can get some of it going though!
