This is just about the best recreational 17.45 mins you will spend in your life. I honestly believe your music entertainment is paramount for good mental health, and this selection of a new set of tweeters is vital to your audio enjoyment. Thank you SO much Mike!
I'm sorry you have so many dumbshits in the comments trying to put you down for testing the best selling tweets on the car audio market. I think you did a great comparison because most people that are building a system are looking at the same ones u tested. I have the skar 3.5 titanium and the skar aluminum domes as well. Now I want to buy those pioneers because of this video. Much cleaner. Thanks bud.
Very late comment but i found myself going back to thr skars almost over everything lately. Obviously ny morel supremo's stay but MAN... If you want a good snare "smack" and super loud yet surprisingly controlled highs, its REALLY hard to beat skar flr the price. With that said i hate them for what misinformed people love them for... BASS... or should i say "lack thereof"... ive tried every sub they had out at augudt 15th (havent heard anything new if they have snything new) but i just dont understand how they havent at least ACCIDENTALLY made a subwoofer thats not only capable of a comp but also have drivers that dont just suck... like in EVERY way. You can use good materials and still make a bad product and im not even that big into bass but thats not what i call their subs. With that said i did get a box from them for subwr cheap si ply because it was the EXACT cubic footing down to (-.02). I need to try their conpression drivers with some horns too cause they have quite a few options for CHEAP.
@austinporter4285 the skars arent bad , i liked them as well. But my search for the loudest and clearest ended with orion hcca . I stopped using bullets and compression tweeters about a year ago because everytime i listened to my stereo my ears would ring for a couple hours . So i went back with what i started using , peerless xt25 ring radiators. They are nowhere near as loud but it isnt worth getting tinnitus just to be heard from a long distance.
You are doing the lords work man. Not many places you can see tests of so many different models of speakers etc. Plus you can give feedback listening to them all at the same time in person. Valuable information.
It's a truly fantastic help, so important to the listening enjoyment of so many people. Bad tweeters - or a HF you just find uncomfortable - is a real pain. This is precisely what we all need to improve our hi-fi. Thank you so much dear sir.
The orion and the prv were the most crisp to me . The red n black tweeter and the one to the left of the small pioneer tweeter sounded nice as well. Thanks for the video, you just saved me alot of time. I subbed.
Skar VX200 6th from left, is a Chinese brandless tweeter that anyone can stick its brand on. In Thailand It is sold for $6 a piece but I bought nonbranded a pair for the same price. This tweeter can be easily dismantled and I filled the back chamber of the ring diaphragm with cotton. It got rid of 3khz resonance shouting and damped the ring. Once equalized, it became a fabulous 8 ohm 90db HIFI tweeter.
Extremely taxing for your ears to listen from start to finish at one go but still could pick up the massive clarity difference when we got to the first pioneer. Others had very minor differences between. Well done, thank you.
It would help if you were playing them with a mid so we can tell how it blends. My ears aren't trained to listen to tweeters this way. They all hurt my ears.
No ones ears are trained to listen to tweeters this way; the designers certainly didn't intend it. It would be interesting to test these tweeters properly and see if they rate differently.
@@damoo9336 😄 glad it wasn't just me thinking that. I guess the reviewer may considered crossover issues but I would advise getting a cheap speaker like micca popping out the tweeter and try these replacements.
Try silk-dome but paper-cone (need "belt"-clothes hemming-tape to join the two disaggreeing materials. Due to the performance of paper, the diaphragm should be bigger than most other cone materials (sillicone for punch, rubber for bass reverb, aramid and kevlar for thick skin, ...) Test 6 inch for paper-cone tweeters to smoothen and air the sound ( check dispersion angles)
Hey man can you do a comparison of all the small tweeters that will fit in a oem factory car location? I know you said the audiopipe sounds like crap but I just cant fit ANY of those tweeters in my car. I dont know what one to buy i need a small one...
I have a small speaker in the centre of my car dash and it's connected to radio without amplifier. Would any of these tweeters work without amplifier? I found this one Skar Audio VX4-ST 4-Inch 600 Watt High Compression Titanium Bullet Super Tweeter. What do you think? Thanks. Your videos are great.
You will have to drill holes or make custom door panels which may or may not be worth it to you. However, I highly recommend opting for aluminum dome tweeters instead if you like the bright sound that bullet tweeters have but, do not want to go deaf.
I thought Skar was good but why the pioneer sound louder? Can someone please help me choose the best tweeters and what amp to power them? It’s a gift for husband
Pioneer(small one) is the best treble. I think with my previous experiences Pioneer tweeters produce the best and crisp, distortionles highs and quality treble than others. I think cross over is the main part of crisp treble to avoid harshness . because most tweeters produce some low freequency highs, we need to cut off at 2-3khz. Low freequency highs is the main reason for harshness
I would like to use PRV TW700Ti put on my JBL JRX200 speaker. but i am not sure how to do it. Can you advise how to put use it? replace the original tweeter or add it as external? thanks
Very nice. Appreciate the help. Only running a Orion 750.4 with a birth rms of 205watts/channel at 2 ohms which will still run both front and rear component sets very well.
@Drummer Beat Off Since b4 I was aware of it at the beginning of the 2000s Orion tests each amplifier b4 sending it off. They call it that which is genius and helpful because no amp is exactly the same, necessarily. So if you check out unboxing videos of Orion Amplifiers they typically show the sheet rite when they open it. Id check out Big D's channel "Williston Audio Labs". I store my sheet next to my birth certificate as well. LOL
No comparison, HLCD tweeters are way more efficient, louder and sound fantastic, but there are trade-offs/downside to 'em, like size and phasing issues. If you decide to go that route, here are some good options: 1.) B & C DE250 it's what all others are compared to 2.) Selenium/JBL D220Ti 3.) PRV D280 is half the cost of the first 2, but as good or better (to me)
They are very efficient so I would say yes but as with anything being played loud - more power is better if you don’t want distortion. Personally I enjoy getting the most out of a solid head unit by using efficient speakers and I am not an SPL guy, I have PA systems for that 🤣 So anyhow 400watts is not required as it’s more how much heat the driver can handle within its usable range. 20 watts at a meter away and your ears will be greeted by a very loud signal with this kind of tweeter.
Really excellent video, fun to watch! Very interesting to hear them all stand-alone like that, and one after the other. So well presented. I ordered the Pyle tweeters today and I’m glad I did after hearing this comparison. They should arrive tomorrow hehehe..!
Out of the small ones, i think the Orion had the best tonal quality on the lower side of the frequency, and the smaller Pioneer had the best tonal quality on the upper side of the frequency. Out of the 2 larger tweeters, and it's a damn close match, i'd have to pick the PRV, but the Pioneer looks nicer. Idk? Kinda hard to tell without blending in the midrange?
I would like to hear some pro audio coaxials like Beyma, Ciare, Faital Pro, Radian Audio, etc... These are my kinds of videos. Thanks for spending the time and money!
Hi Mike, love your hard work! I need an advice from you, I've got Harman Kardon avr 161, searching for long a good tweeter with in 50€ range, can you please help? Thanks
Nice that someone is doing some kind of tests, but why not try out small flange neo dome/RR tweeters that are a lot smaller, a lot higher quality sounding and still not more expensive than anyone of these? I am out of car sound atm but I don't get it. Every single dome of some quality are able to put out the spl needed at these distances. And, they most often sound good too. Try the SB29/21RDC dimple dome, XT25SC90/XT19, D26NC56/BC25SC55 and so on that are proven high SQ drivers. Look to home hifi gear. Also, use the same XO for all of them, for a fair test setup.
You seem to go for the loudest in each test. I can tell which will be loudest by looking at them. What is far more important to me is sound quality. For a start, how does each tweeter reproduce the frequencies it is designed for? If you are testing by ear, you should play them all at the same volume.

To compare tweeters you need music at high frequency (violin or voice instead of a drum).
Extremely taxing for your ears to listen from start to finish at one go but still could pick up the massive clarity difference when we got to the first pioneer. Others had very minor differences between. Well done, thank you.
My favourite was the small Pioneer and the small one on the left of it.

I see the Orion Cobalt tweeter, but what about the Orion HCCA super tweeter??
I’ve got the old Pioneer 7600 or 9200 dsp models

Where is the xtg30 scanspeak?
You must add a graphic on the screen every time you change tweeters. Very hard to know which is which.
Do you need crossovers or can you run them directly to a 4 channel 2 ohm amplifier?
The Orion and the Pioneer had the cleaner sound to me... 🧐
Yes those are the 2 that stood out for me too.The red bullet pioneer and the orion next.

Why does the music continue to play after you unplug the tweeters

That's too much wattage. Get a lower wattage speaker because your stock head unit can only push so much.
The question would be how to mount those in a stock application.
you almost always have to surface mount. Cut hole in door panel with a hole saw and use supplied ring to tighten it down to panel
You will have to drill holes or make custom door panels which may or may not be worth it to you. However, I highly recommend opting for aluminum dome tweeters instead if you like the bright sound that bullet tweeters have but, do not want to go deaf.
