1:40 What I like about the laugh is that, in the final product, it is actually just a sample of Ganon's laugh from Zelda II. But because these are demos, and hence pre-production, he acts out the laughter into the lyrics.
Effectively, he's doing a Ganon impression in each demo.
WAIT IT ACTUALLY SAMPLES THE GANON LAUGH???? WHAT??? I THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY
Spot on
i can only assume it was inspiration during recording, but then the song made it to a project that wasn't tally hall, hence not that much of a need to protect intellectual property rights, therefore giving him a reason to sample it?
wtf hell yeah
I know for sure it’s Ganon’s laugh, but isn’t it also that one Russian soda guy’s laugh from Punch Out? (Original)
I love how the atmosphere for the serf part is consistent with all versions
And it’s rad every single time
and its the best part
@@willkeiser671 i'm so glad (almost) everyone agrees that part is the best. it literally gives me chills everytime i listen to it, i always end up rewinding to hear it over and over because it's so good.
@@fl3m1n9o4 i had a phase for like a month straight once where thatd be the only part id listen to 🤠

for some reason the "and you fall inside a ʰᵒˡᵉ ʸᵒᵘ ᶜᵒᵘˡᵈⁿ'ᵗ ₛₑₑ." at 1:46 is funny to me
I love that part, idk why but it’s so cute.
I read your comment coincidentally when that part of the song played. It made it even funnier lol
@@VergeneTechsame lol
ngl it sounds like possibly in michigan help-
gotta love it!
"resident marvin"... marvin... marvins marvellous museum?
Originally the song was going to be called “Inside the Mind of Simon” before going though a bunch of demos and rewrites eventually becoming “The Mind Electric”
This song was originally going to be part of the album Marvins marvellous mechanical museum so it kinda makes sense
GabeTYJ Mummy’s mushrooms makes meals marvellous
Oh my God it all makes sense now. It was tally Hall the whole time
Mr. RandomGUYS who is simon
that “sympathy for me” was so much more emphasized than the final version and i love it
It might honestly be the best part of demo 3 I think
It almost sounds sinister in a way which is funny because it completely conflicts with the lyrics, but it works really well for the story of the song

the mind acoustic

tally hall demo'd the first draft for this called "inside the mind of simon" or maybe you mean the track by miracle musical called "the mind electric (demo)" with no number after the word demo? there's a lot of versions of this song lmao
This version is slightly creepier, but in a different way. This version makes me think of an elderly man being prosecuted for a crime he committed decades ago, using the insanity defense, then proceeding to actually go insane after electro-therapy. It's creepy because his voice sounds so polite, despite apparently doing something horrible enough to warrant such a trial.
the "SYMPATHY. FOR. ME!" part hits so right in my mind.
This version really makes me realize it sounds a bit like Bohemian Rhapsody
THATS WHAT IT REMINDED ME OF IT SOUNDED FAMILIAR BUT I COULDNT PLACE IT
Oh my god you’re right how did I never notice
I’ve always thought of The Mind Electric as ‘Modern Bohemian Rhapsody with a side of Gen Z’s insanity craving.’
i think The Mind Electric actually references Bohemian Rhapsody with TME’s lines “I was just a boy, you see/I plead of thee have sympathy for me” referencing BoRhap’s lines “I’m just a poor boy/I need no sympathy”
I think Ruler also kinda falls under that sub genre
Resident Simon, how do you plead
We'll need your testimony on the stand
Solemnly swear to summon your story
Tell the truth and raise your right hand
Resident Marvin let me explain
My brain has claimed its glory over me
I've a good heart, I may be insane
Please mend my mind and let me go free
All my towers crumble down
The flowers gasping under rubble
Shouting in the hall of lull
My demons quench my thirst for trouble
Scattering sparks of thought energy
Deliver me and carry me away
Here in my kingdom, I am your lord
I order you to cower and præy
All my monks were chanting as
The lighting struck my temples
And electric shocks destructed places
Said they read it on my face
And swirling down your majesty
I beg of thee have mercy on me
I was just a boy you see
I beg of thee have sympathy for me
See how the serfs work the ground
And they give it all they've got
Till they're down
See how the brain plays around
And you fall inside a hole
You couldn't see
And you fall inside a hole inside a
Someone help me
Understand what's going on inside my mind
Doctor, I can't tell if I'm not me
When it grows light the particles
Start to marvel how they made it through the night
Never they ponder whether electric
Calming if you look at it right
according to grammarly, the lyrics are "disapproving", "confident" and "sad"
i just thought that'd be interesting to share
oh no! makes sense
@@uranium404 the songs lyrics changed alot, from gibberish, to near the end result, to the end result. Btw is it just me or does demo 2 jist sound like an effects test

huh thx
This... I can't explain this. It sounds so familiar yet like something new.
Probs because it’s one of many versions that ended with a Frankenstein of a song lmao
Wow, a new version of something familiar feels like a new version of something familiar? Who knew.
@@spades9681 LMAO
@@spades9681 I wonder...
Bohemian Rhapsody?
Everyone loves demo four, but why not this one? This one is good too! It needs more attention in my opinion.
Demo 4 is overrated, I can't stand that annoying voice saying "YoU i'll NeVeR uNdErStAnD" over and over again
@@maty5591 i guess you'll never understand why people like it 😉
@@maty5591 Do I have a song for you
I feel like demo 4 is more raw emotion hence like the screaming and stuff, but this one feels more like channeled into a song/story of that makes sense
I may be insane but I enjoy the 2nd demo, it scares me and I love it
The “doctor I cant tell if im not me” part in my opinionis better than the final because it just sounds so… sad. Idk it just hits different

i have a theory: Simon used Macintosh.
That's just a fact

The Mind Electric is such a good song
Hawaii part 2 has taught me something. If you’re framed for a murder, just go to jail.
Oh hi *S I M O N*
Oh wait hello *M A R V I N*
probably my favorite demo of the mind electric. then again, it’s literally just inside the mind of simon, but i prefer that over the full mind electric song tbh.
I’ve heard the final version of this song so mic that hearing the demo version with the older lyrics just feels strangely unnatural
Steve Gallagher was still in the band when they recorded this? This sounds like his drum set
This guy’s name is Simon? Das neat
This is Inside in the Simon's mind, the "Lost" song of Tally Hall
It's lost? Isn't it just a little different from The Mind Electric?
Its lost because Tally Hall dropped the song.
they have it on myspace, its been there since 2008
1) It's demo version of The mind electric, actually
2) Miracle Musical. I know it's apmost the same band, but still
@@user-cd6zi1gh8c it was originally a tally hall song, like time machine

Simon.... excuse me what? Is Joe Halwey actually Simon? HUH? this makes no sense! Joe are you tricking us! 😭
simon yagoda is marvin yagoda (owner of marvins marvelous mechanical museum in ann arbor)'s son
i really like the demo's for the mind electric. i feel like it get's the story across so much better. and they are really creepy. i love it
This is Joe Hawley singing a solo. This is what The Mind Electric was taken from this. It’s called “Inside the Mind of Simon”
axon dendrite axon dendrite axon dendrite
i like this version more, honestly
Imo this is creepier/more unnerving than the final product. (A bit more so if you know how old this demo is)
its interesting how the lyrics are just different enough to through you off like. constantly.
even in this version they say thot
when
this is my favorite marvin's marvelous mechanical museum song.
I love the synth version of the axon dendrite chanting
This is the closest demo to the original
and the lyrics to this version further prove that this is electric therapy to help with the schizophrenia
another thing, maybe in the original drafts the electric therapy actually fixed it since there are no voices in the background after the shocks
and this demo gives us the name of the name of the main character, though Marvin was prolly just a reference to how it WAS gonna be in MMMM
i know Inside the Mind of Simon was meant to be on Marvin's but it definitely doesn't _sound_ like it. idk what i mean by that but.
is there any way someone might be able to
1) break down the specific sound style of MMMM's more existential ItMoS-styled songs
2) RECREATE that style
3) apply said style to ItMoS
to create the "original" ItMoS? i think that'd be pretty cool tbh. same could apply to Time Machine (which idk if that was going to be on Marvin's or Good & Evil) and Murders (which i'm 90% sure was going to go on G&E)
Murders was originally planned to be in G&E, along with Black people white people
(outdated

Fascinating to see how the lyrics changed. Imo the end result flows better, and the more abstract lyrics better convey his insanity.
This is...
Evie Goodman it certainly is
Its okay, take your time
What if... it isn't?
Yes, this is very...
I think its more…
i have a MASSIVE crush on this song its just so nghhhh
In the second chorus, you can slightly hear the “Axon-dentrite” in the background vocals, showing that by this point he probably already had the plan for it to be themed around reversals.
sometimes when I refer to this I refer to it personally as the testimony of resident Marvin it that weird
I was listening to this at full volume and there's goblin sounds at the end 😭💀
i love it.. it gives me weird vibes makes it so much GREAT
This version is much better only because you don’t half to manually skip the first half
Also the electric guitar towards the end is pretty cool
but the reversed part is like...my religion.
reversed part is beautiful!
+Jacob Belyea I personally think this version sounds nicer.
only cowards skip the reversed part!
*simon*
I don’t think I like the vocals, actually.. they’re too clear? I like it when it’s difficult to kind of tell what he’s saying, for that true portray of insanity.
With headphones you can hear both the backing vocals and main vocals in a separate ears, it sounds so crazy, the fact they all change volumes in a different ear really does make it sound like you’re brain is turning insane
ITS ALL CONNECTED
Holy shit this isnt even mind electric compared to demo 2
The fucking cymbals
ikr
THIS VERSION IS SO CARTOONY I LOVE IT
i forgot how good this demo is
def my fav demo of this song
This have better lyrics than the final version.
Reminds me of ice king / simon
THATS WHY IT WAS ORIGINALLY CALLED “THE MIND OF SIMON”
Hawaii Pt 2. more like Hawlii Pt 2.
Such a Beatles Revolver/OK computers electioneering (Radiohead) guitar feel
The furst sounds British
This is similar to Cojum Dip’s live performance of “Inside the mind of Simon” which was the demo for TME
This song sounds to me like the pleading of a schizophrenic man being sent to electro shock therapy
that's exactly it i think
This version sounds older (like in the 1870’s) with all the big and complex words
this is me trying to sing tme except I forget the lyrics
