- One of Southern California's most prominent and popular roads will be closed nightly for an indeterminate amount of time.
The city of Malibu announced that all lanes of Pacific Coast Highway will be closed from 6 p.m. to at least 7 a.m. the next day "due to erosion of ocean side shoulder from high tides and storm damage, and more expected storms."
KTLA's Kimberly Cheng reports on Feb. 14, 2024.

i seen issue a decade ago, that stretch of road is literally paved on sand. once i pulled off the road right there, and got stuck in the sand. i have a video of it too. super frustrating
they need all that area to be compacted road base, and boulders to protect the road.
The curse of the Chumash is on that stretch of road. May Rindge's ghost walks up and down it and shakes her fist at the state of California. The Maliwu
Buried right under the asphalt
10 million dollar houses on the coast now worth nothing due to erosion.
10 mill???? LMAO! You find me a ten million house (sfr), ready to move in, relatively luxurious with in your face ocean view in prime Malibu (remember, IN YOUR FACE OCEAN VIEW) and I will pay you ONE MILLION DOLLARS in CASH tax free!
There are no houses on that stretch of PCH. Try watching the video!
No houses in that area of PCH...nice try tho

Why not build the road farther inland?... Yeah, eminent-domain law does not apply to the filthy rich.
Eminent is often used to describe someone or something that stands out above others in a noticeable way, while imminent is used to describe something that is about to happen very soon.

In that stretch of coastline there are mountains that rise immediately from the road shoulder (look at the video again)...the amount of 'earth moving' would be ludicrous AND it's also protected state parkland.
awesome
Man PCH had claimed sooooo many lives, tht montezumas revenge is inevitable 🙅🏻♂️
If only someone had told us in advance that sea level rise and increasingly extreme weather would change our coastlines.
Hi NOT SO BRIGHT, it called erosion from waves .
