Nikki I just want to say I am a 70 year old Vietnam veteran and thank you for taking me to these places that I will never get a chance to see on my own thank you and God bless
I was hiking in Sedona quite a few years ago and ended up sitting and meditating for a while. It was a very dark time in my life, and this guy walked up to me and gave me a heart rock. Oh my God, I almost burst into tears. The timing couldn’t have been better. Ironically, on another trip to Sedona I met him again and he gave me another heart rock. Apparently he’s retired and he justfinds these heart rocks and gives them away to people. So cool.
Hey, I live in West Marin, which is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. If you’re ever up this way, I will be happy to show you some very magical places. I love your channel and I’ve followed you for a couple years 🙂
Thank you! this is such a heart warming story, and talk about such wonderful timing! I can only imagine this guy helped a lot of people with that kind gesture but also now I want to go and be gifted a heart rock 🫶🏼😅

Your post brings back some awesome memories of my travels. It’s such a beautiful drive. Now I gotta find my old hard drive storage photos of NorCal coast travels! Yes elephant seals! I have photos from a few beaches filled with them! Thank you!
One of the most beautiful things about traveling without a schedule is stopping and exploring. And the bonus are the beautiful people you can meet and take the time to listen to their stories. The world is full of both good and bad, beauty and ugly, but we will never know which is which if we don't step out the door and take the time to look. People like you are beautiful your heart is open and your mind willing to learn what people are willing to share. Never change being you.

@@NikkiDelventhal You gotta get there! You can camp at Lake Wenatchee and float the river(which starts right next to the boat launch. It's easy floating, not like the Yakima easy but there is no rapids or anything and plenty of pull out spots.

San Simeon is my favorite. Moonstone Beach in particular. I remember my son & I watching a sea otter eating dinner. My son taught me all about them. They use a flat rock to crack oysters open while floating on their backs and they hold hands while sleeping so they don’t get lost at night. A core memory for sure. Thank you for sharing your adventures😋
Wow, I did your route in 1993 and it has stayed with me as one of my favourites ever since… I stayed in log cabins with the smell of pine all around…as the clouds sat low on the coast line…such dramatically beautiful sunrises. Thanks for the tour. 🎉
awesome video, i grew up as a kid just a couple of blocks away from highway 1, in Pacifica, just south of San Francisco and my Grand father was born in Denmark, visited Solvang so much as a child.
My wife and I spent our Honeymoon in Solvang (one of many places in Cali) 42 years ago. I grew up in Nor Cali and visited Solvang many times. Cool place. Great bakeries!

Every time we drive through the PCH I find it to be a very calming experience. It’s just so hard to describe. My phone is full of pictures but the photos don’t give justice to the actual view. I never miss a video. Watching Rodney and Camper brings me joy. They were especially cute today. Be safe Nikki. Rattlesnakes.....so scary....scary for you and dogs.
My wife and I were at the coast on May 22-24. A night at Hearst San Simeon state park campground (great beach for rock collecting), did a castle tour and stopped at the Elephant Seal beach, and saw a herd of zibras on the castle grounds next to the highway when we drove back by. Spent our last night at Pismo Beach state park campground, great beach and campground. This was our first time in that area other than driving through, loved it and we were blessed with mainly sunny days.
I love how Rodney makes so many messes but also makes sure you can't stay mad at him! LOL! My furbaby has absolutely weaponized her cuteness, as well. Camper's also on a never-ending quest to claim the driver's seat. The places you showed were absolutely wonderful, and I'm definitely pinning Slovang as somewhere I want to go! Ma-n-Pop eateries are like a siren's song for me!

Haven't done that PCH drive in so many years. Looking forward to doing it again soon and am thoroughly enjoying your video of it. I was also in Solvang a few years ago, for just a few hours, but plan to make a point of visiting Olsen's when I am there again.. I would also caution people not to do the PCH drive early in the morning, but to wait until the marine layer lifts because much of the view of the ocean will be obscured until then. I also read that PCH just reopened again a few days ago in the spot that had been closed.

Glad you talked about the road closures due to landslides which have become more common with the passage of time. Not only Highway 1 is affected. More recently, the Coastal Railway (or whatever they call it) has given way around San Clemente and between storms and rising sea levels, zig-zagging over to inland routes may be the only option in years to come. Even back in the days of The Graduate (1967), the drive from LA to SF using Highway 1 was beautiful albeit precarious in spots. My father first made the trek to San Simeon from LA in 1932 as a guest of Hearst himself -- must have used 101 back then. My first time driving the Coast Route was in 1967 and the last time about 20 years later. Rodney relaxing on the dashboard will keep me happy for days on end. Love to all Delvethals.
Spent nearly every summer , or part of it, on The Klamath Rive at the mouth the river salmon fishing. I could count off the places you saw and most that you didn't stop or review deeply. For anyone who can't go to the Redwoods Natl park I'm certain there are many videos. Stunning. On a quiet day's walk...spiritual. You drove thro Buelton and up the coast. Been every linear foot dozens of times. My best childhood memories are on that coast. Most don't know that California is 1000 miles long. LA is part of California. So is San Diego and San Francisco. Each with it beauty and each with a different culture. They are NOT California. I'm a native Califorian with a bad case of travel everywhere. And even I cant honestly say I've see all that California has to offer. Thanks to you and the boys for bringing back great memories. (Morro Bay is More-row Bay with the iconic Rock.)
I love this one. My parents have been going up to Morro Bay for decades together every anniversary. My mom is a huge rock collector and they always stop at moonstone Beach to pick up some rocks. She also has a huge heart rock collection from years of travels. ❤❤❤❤
Thank you Nikki. I have Cerebral Palsy and I am looking at making money online so I can travel more. I really enjoy your videos. You really inspire me to get out and see my own country New Zealand full-time and maybe one day America.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I was born in Monterey and we lived a couple blocks from the beach. We moved away when I was very young and don’t remember any of it but plan to take a trip one day and will drive the PCH.
“Rodney who pissed on…” 😂😂😂 that word caught me by surprise lol Nikki seems to ladylike to use that word and then boom there it is, just that one word and no more 😂 makes it even more funny
Rodney is such a great addition to the family. His slightly nefarious behaviors are hilarious. You look up he's standing on the dashboard, lowering a window or peeing in a shoe😂. Luv him he's great, and then camper is like "Hey talk and play with the stick lady" lol.
Aah yes, you peaked my interest again, I thought you were heading up to Monterey, my birth town, too bad the road was closed. I hope you were able to visit the town of Cambria 'old town' on your way around. And the light bulb finally came on, Solvang is a Danish community and sells Danishes at its Bakery. And seeing the flocks of pelicans is always a pleasure. Take care of them Flying Buddha Dog and travel on !!
yup....hwy 1 is an absolutely gorgeous highway. When I worked at some of the area Hospitals (APRN) I loved to drive Hwy 1 to Washington state, such a wonderful mini vacation.
So cool to see you go threw places me an my family have been so many times . My grandpa just passed away last year ha we all spent so many times seeing the butterfly’s there . Rip opa
Another great Video Nikki , very informative taking us to places many of us can never hop to travel to. The stuff in that bakery looks delicious. Mr Olsen seems to be a remarkable individual. That rock was awesome. Wow that's a lot of elephant seal Have a great weekend
I work for DHL express and my route is the Big Sur Route. Every Day I drive a long highway 1 from Monterey to Tree Bones. Beautiful views every day. Hopefully you can come and visit this side of the highway. Caltrans is saying they will complete the affected areas by July.
I could live in that Danish bakery, and I am so obsessed with real moon stones, I think they are so beautiful in silver jewelry. Love this adventure since I can no longer travel at 75 years old with so many health problems, thank you for your wonderful adventures with your beautiful dogs.
Hi Nikki! Thanks for the info on your Bachelor days. Me and the Mrs were always curious as to what brought you to that show. Although I never watched, it doesn’t seem like your kind of thing. Have fun traveling
In 2015 I did the Interstate 1 trip from Portland to San Diego on my Triumph Bonnie T100 and Sidecar for my dog(white shepherd). The best trip I have ever had.👍
I always enjoy seeing people travel up the coast. I grew up in Pacific Grove and I would always drive to Carmel/Big Sur just to decompress from the day. Its such a beautiful coast.

My first time driving the Coast Route was in 1967 and the last time about 20 years later. Rodney relaxing on the dashboard will keep me happy for days on end. Love to all Delvethals.
Those episodes are waaaaay to short. I can watch your channel all day! 😘
This makes me to happy to learn about! Thank you!
Would love to see the rock collection

Thank you Nikki. I have Cerebral Palsy and I am looking at making money online so I can travel more. I really enjoy your videos. You really inspire me to get out and see my own country New Zealand full-time and maybe one day America.
Happy Dogs Happy Person, that's everything that you need.
I am going to kitsap area in June to see my brother and his family.
The way you cutting the carrot is ‘magnificient” =]]]]. Stay safe my youtuber. You make my day.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I was born in Monterey and we lived a couple blocks from the beach. We moved away when I was very young and don’t remember any of it but plan to take a trip one day and will drive the PCH.
Rodney on the dashboard is emulating miss kitty from the The cat lady Van channel 😻🐶
PCH is one of the most scenic roads in the USA. Drove/rode on it many times when we lived in San Diego.
“Rodney who pissed on…” 😂😂😂 that word caught me by surprise lol Nikki seems to ladylike to use that word and then boom there it is, just that one word and no more 😂 makes it even more funny
Holy Bakery Batman........WOW!!!!! Great breakfast stop.
Good morning 🌞 I recently starting watching your TH-cam videos I like your dogs camper and rodney have a good day and take care 💖
Very much enjoy seeing places I visit often. Solvange great danishes! Morro Bay is what I call home. Enjoy the drive!
Camper gets to ride shotgun during your drives and Rodney gets the Nap Lap.
Haha camper always calls shotgun! But sometimes he tries for the lap nap LOL
yup....hwy 1 is an absolutely gorgeous highway. When I worked at some of the area Hospitals (APRN) I loved to drive Hwy 1 to Washington state, such a wonderful mini vacation.
You have the best vibes. It’s so beautiful to watch someone with so much genuine gratitude for life experience the world. ❤
Every time i drive thru Solva g it's packed with tourists....so i generally don't stop ...im glag you found a good time to stop and explore...
part of your video reminded me of the film Sideways... filmed in Solvang and other areas nearby.
Wow!! Im in my van and we are on the same route. How ironic! Safe travels!
I just love Camper’s expressions
In 2015 I did the Interstate 1 trip from Portland to San Diego on my Triumph Bonnie T100 and Sidecar for my dog(white shepherd).
The best trip I have ever had.👍
I always enjoy seeing people travel up the coast. I grew up in Pacific Grove and I would always drive to Carmel/Big Sur just to decompress from the day. Its such a beautiful coast.
