    Why are you using that 4:1 ratio when you know that it's going to be a to high concentration mix at the end? Wouldn't it make more sense to mix some closer to what you are trying to achieve so you don't have to use so lean mixtures later?

    Am I being thick? Isn't 6% of 95, 5.7? (95/100 * 6)

    I am not confident in the math on this video but I could be missing something. Also, if you are using synthetic coolant then it will have a different "refractive index" than standard coolant. For example Blaser Synergy 735 has a refractive index of 1.4 meaning: A reading of 1% on a Brix type refractometer will actually be 1.4% coolant concentration. The Brix scale is actually meant for concentration of various sugars but works for STANDARD coolant at a 1-1 ratio and SYNTHETIC coolant at whatever the refractive index happens to be. To keep it simple, Blaser recommends keeping the Synergy 735 SYNTHETIC coolant concentration between 5 and 7 on the Brix scale which equates to 7% and 9.8% actual synthetic coolant concentration in the tank.

      Very useful points here! Also using the fully synthetic (oil-free) Aqualub CSA 10 with a refractive index of 2.0, so whatever Brix type reading, is multiplied by 2.0 to give the actual concentration of the coolant. The recommended concentration by the manufacturer is 3%-5%, so the Brix reading should be between 3/2=1.5 and 5/2=2.5! Thanks for sharing my friend!

    That's some pretty wonky math.
    Let's say you have a 100 gallon tank, and you want a 50% concentration. Hopefully it is obvious you need 50 gallons of concentrate, right? But by your method, 100/1.5=67 gallons of water + 33 gallons of concentrate. This is wrong.
    100 * 0.50 = 50. Tank size * concentration = amount of concentrate to use. In your example 95 * 0.06 = 5.7 gallons of concentrate.

    The math is fine. Vtot = Vcool+Vwater. Call r = Vcool/Vwater. Then Vtot/Vwater = r + 1. Vtot = Vwater(r+1) so Vwater = Vtot/(r+1) and Vcool = Vtot - Vwater.
