Hi Jonathan. That is So Nice to make you a Rio Pilot in His Awesome F14. Just like when He take She on the First Flight in His Hands you will be aside of Him. Can’t wait to see Her Go Down-the Runaway. You the main man Builder. Peace
I love the f14.. I would in my sparetime go up on the observation area and watch flight ops. My watch station was on fantail.. they would come right over my head when landing.. my favorites 1, f86, 2,Italian fiatg91, 3,f14
Awesome stuff! The manufacturer made a boo boo. F-14 squadrons were designated as VF. They became VFA when Tomcat transitioned to Hornets. Can’t wait to see this fly!
Awesome work John the tech in that Flying machine is just mind blowing to say the least. I like the way ya go through the process find the best solution which if you look at what,s supplied in some of the kits is just Epic fella. It is amazing to see how far the Tech has come. I actually got the first issue of RC JET INTERNATIONAL way back in the 90,s (it was in News Paper Format) and the only Jet engine you could by was the JPX or the Kit 66. What you can get now is light years ahead of that. as always blown away by ya workmanship. Cheers Nick
Yea the last ten years is nuts where things have gone. I’m sure guys that have been doing this for longer think the same thing about their timeframe of reference.
Thanks Jonathon for covering the wing actuator upgrade! Just got Tomcat order in last week- with the upgrade. Greatly appreciate your email reply to my questions.
simply amazing piece of work! So much going on in that bird! Them gear work great! The time and patience u put into them is amazing! thanks for sharing!!!
Im sorry to see you retreading all the things I did with mine previously with the gear. Im waiting for my drag links from Michael still as well as a pair of replacement air cylinders as its not just the ball links that will break as it pulled one of my air cylinders apart. Your help with all this was immeasurable to me as I worked through all this a few months ago. This model is finicky at times especially the gear. Hopefully Skymaster addresses the design flaws with the gear down the road. Otherwise shes looking great my friend. Cg was spot on, right where mine is. Now to get my parts and get mine in the air. Im sure David is as anxious to get his as I am to get mine going!
These issues were brought up years ago when I built mine SM will not change anything. I replaced all the air cylinders minus the gear and speed brakes due to leaks after pulling them and repairing/testing them.
Hey David. Yea it's been a ton of work getting this gear sorted. Those links from Michael solve a ton of issues but the gear still doesn't like to operate consistently. I have some suggestions in the upcoming video. Part 2
@@thelightersideofrc really looking forward to that. I have had mine torn down, lubricated, adjusted, repressured, lol and its still troublesome at times. I saw in your video you having exactly the same issue's. I liked the idea of tge spacer under the wing mount. I will definitely be trying that. Its definitely been a collaboration getting these to work efficiently.
FYI the gear up issue you are experiencing is not an issue. I talked about these same things you guys are dealing with in my build thread. The gear needs internal lube of the strut seal. The happens when you compress the struts. Manually do this and the gear will go up, if it does not you have too much air in the strut.
Just lubricant on rudder bolt is not a good final solution, a tiny nick dremel or saw on the opposite side of the clamp to relieve the pressure will save the threads fro facing. My f16 has same problem
We are almost there! getting this F14 wrapped up in Rapid Fashion. This aircraft is coming together!

Thanks Sal! It's been quite the journey with this gear and aircraft!

I’ll cover it in the final video/next video. I came up with a whole list of things to do and a start of the day procedure to get reliable operation.

👍😊
Wow man…damn impressive, and I will not buy a rc jet, I will fly instead😉
Thanks Sam!
A big project for sure! Going to burn some kerosene today!
NICE!
what was the issues with the stock actuators? and they can handle 7.4v I asked this years ago when I started selling the Actuonix on my website
They didn't like straight lipo and fried. Replacement one's we are running at 6v and they are working great and haven's self destructed.
@@thelightersideofrc weird
Yea. I have others running on straight lipo for years and they are fine.
