110% recommend pulling every screw and re loctite all of them! Pull the head and tail apart, make sure the bearing and thrust bearing are installed the right way. Don’t trust anything out of the box.
@ exactly! No one will build to your expectations. I’ve built a Roban and I can say definitely go though all of it! Every bit. Even re gluing the joints.
Thanks for changing things up and taking on a heli project. I bought one of these from a friend of mine already built so here are several tips, check everything for loctite, use good grease for the gears and use the shims included to get the gear mesh right, don't use cheap servos, other than that it flies very good all stock out of the box. Mine had a lot of flights and held up very well.
I am so happy to see you starting your journey with a RC helicopter! This fuselage looks really great! Same for landing gear and all other shown parts! It's so great to hear you wondering how many main blades will be in this set! Opening all these boxes is a bit like opening Christmas gifts. I will definitelt follw this project with special interest as I am a heli fanatic! I wish you lots of fun with the build... and then with the maiden flight of course!! Waiting for the next episodes!
This is right up my alley! I enjoy watching your plane builds but I'm more of a helicopter guy. I've built 6 of these Roban models and they're quite the bang for the buck. The mechanics you questioned, they're Roban's design specifically for their models.
I just finished one of these. Now have a half dozen flights or so on it. I designed a few parts that you might be interested in. The gear mounts leave something to be desired so I made some brackets I glued in to make them double shear instead of single. Also scanned the front to make a battery tray and a hinge for the tail to make it motorized. Happy to share STLs. I printed them all out of petg-cf
Hi, I just started watching your channel. I really enjoy it. I'm a disabled veteran, and I'm going through therapy. And my therapist, thank you. Maybe it's a good idea to get into some type of hobby. So I was watching this episode in I was wondering. When will you download the second episode
Yeah, a heli👍…you’ll love the BD 3X gyro. The Apache will fly like on rails with it. Just keep an eye on all the gears, sometimes roban is going to take tolerances too easy😉 cheers from Sven🍺
That manual blows, I’m building an 800 Huey and it was pretty out of date. Im glad you have Heli experience you’ll need it! The 3x is a pleasure o work with. I’m excited to see how this one goes!! Make sure you pin that torque tube!!!
For those that will ask: 5000mAh 12S 44.4V 50C LiPo Battery: 239.99 Scorpion HKIV-4035-450KV: 319.99 Bavarian Demon 3X: 220.00 Castle CC 20 A BEC-Pro: 44.95 Castle Creations Phoenix Edge HVF 160: 314.95 MKS HBL980: 135.99 MKS DS1220 Multipack (3): 259.00 Roban AH-64 Apache 2249.00 Total: 3783.87 Add GOOD transmitter/receiver: 1200.00 Or 4983.87. Round to $5000.00 And the AVERAGE RC helicopter flies between 8-10 times before its first serious crash (based on 2022-2023 numbers)
@@thelightersideofrc Hey, I've been in the hobby for 30+ years now, and I know a lot of people just don't understand that if it ain't a small foamie, its gonna cost some moneys. And most of the bigger stuff you deal with requires "stupid moneys" as I know I cannot drop 30 grand on a turbine, so I make do with 600 dollar's worth of balsa, 300 dollars in a Chinese 70cc gasser and hope when I lawn dart, I can recover some of my electronics!
I started with Heli into this Hobby a long time ago too. While i'm located in Germany the Schlüter and later the Vario Helis were the hot stuff this time. Powered wirh .60 or .90 nitro engines. Long time before brushless and lipo batteries. Shit i'm getting old. 😅
No Roban Apache is complete without this kickass smoke-spewing, fully articulated M230 30 mm chain gun: th-cam.com/video/RX2i-LVgwpE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sXwKG8s4XRsGBBON
I recommend not using that motor. It is too small for the heli. It gets really hot. I recommend not using that tail servo. It does not have the holding power for the weight/torque load.

I would love to see more heli builds
It'd be cool if the After Dark channel had a pre-notification of when you are going to be next on. If there is, I'm not getting them.
@@HornetFlyer I post it on facebook the day of and if your subscribed with notifications on youtube you should be notified.

100 percent the best advice i have seen today because......CHINA.

My two Roban kits were 100% loctited I'm happy to say. But it's cheap insurance to go through and check
2mm driver and loctite on your screw
Thanks for the Suggestions all!

Omg...im an Rc heli pilot more than airplanes. THANK YOU Mr.J. I love my Roban Heli 700 EC665. Flies like a dream

At first I thought wow, here come the Apache turbine! It’s a very nice kit, enjoy the built !
Thanks!
Hmm this will be interesting. looking forward to the episodes.
Thanks!

I didn't expect to see helicopters on this channel. I'm very pleasantly surprised.👍

Very cool! Love Helis.
Def Different!
Love the Apache
Seems so small compared to the large jets we typically work on!
Love my jets… but LOVE my Helis as well! Awesome!
Definitely a change of pace!

Hell yeah!
😎
This gonna be a good one!
Thanks!
20:00 I recommend using stiffer landing gear springs.
😎👍
Hey ya started in Choppers so de ja vu eh.😂 Thats a pretty comprehensive kit. Scorpion motors are top shelf. Should interesting build . Keep at it.😅😂❤
Full Circle!!!!

Compared to what we get with the typical turbine aircraft, it's a treat!
@ I can believe that!! lol
OMG
Can’t wait to see
Hope it’s a turbine
HAHA. Thanks for watching!
Helicopters are my specialty,,,let see what you got kid lol
HAHA. Thank you
20:10 never measure from head to tip., bottom of the head to the tip is the size.
🙌
Yay! A heli... next a turbine heli!!!
😂😂🤔🤔
I would like to see you do more heli builds
If customers want them build, that's what happens!
the apache is capable of inverted flight.try seeing if the rc version can.
I had one of these, no way is anyone flying this tank inverted, lol.
😂

Tip. always take al build parts apart and redo with locktide. i made mistakes before and a crash is never fun.
For sure! Same procedure I preach on our Typical Turbine Aircraft! So Important!
Gonna have to change the name now to the darker side of RC 🤣🤣🤣🤣
HAHA. Thanks.
I asked aeropanda to send you a AXON. You will feel familiar with it do to your cortex experience.
HAHA.

I can only agree with that.
Schluters were some of the most reliable helicopters ever build. Decent German engineering for sure!
HAHA! You and me both!
I recommended changing all the ball links to Sab 700 links.
👍
Is this a personal build ?
No for a customer.

That looked awesome, perfect upgrade
😎
Cram a turbine in it!!!!
😂😂🤔
where is episode 2 ?
Brother i am from pakistan
🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵⚡🇰
Great!
Free workout with every unboxing. 😅
HAHA. Totally!

More….More…. Scale helis 500 size and up. There are other sources but none match your presentation videos.
By the way, you could have went turbine!!!
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words! Yea the parts were all ordered by the owner.
You must be missing building planes as thats all you do.
Stopped watching as you were a one trick pony.
Maybe this will not be as boring.
