For my K9 settings, I use Gamakatsu SPMH No. 1 hook in the front and back, and I put a 2.5g weight sticker on the back of the front hook. Basically, I remove the lip and use a V-tail.I use a roll lip when the fish are deep. Keep reeling slowly or twitching to attract fish. With the current settings, some fish won't bite, so I use MODE B, which does not have a lip, to make them bite.
Perfect video for someone just starting to get into big glidebaits/swimbaits... These type of videos would be an awesome series of big baits Geoff... Thank you!!
Thanks for putting out more DRT content. I really appreciate the refresher on the modes and how to work them. I’ve only got a couple of TK and one K9, and still haven’t caught on them. However, I’ll still be working them. 🤙🏽🤙🏽
I usually carry 2 types with me. Overloading on swimbaits literally overwhelms me. Lol. This being one that i always have with me. And it most definitely catches. Sweet vid 👍🏻
How about a video on inspecting the pivot bushing swivel assembly on an outboard, especially Mercury Optimax. I recently bought one and found it worn out, and didn't even know what to look for.
If you dont mind me asking what hooks do you pair the Citizen baits with? Owner 6/0 beast hook? and where do you order these baits from? eBay? Thanks in advance
I've never done the dead walk or tried walking bait with lip in. I'll have to give it a try. I've only used the lip in for cranking by submerged cover. I haven't caught any monsters on it yet this year, my best is 4 pounders. Last year I caught a 8.6 & an 11.4 on the k9 in glide mode. I keep 2 lead strips on chin & belly, sometimes I run 4 strips & double them up to really try keep glide from floating.
Excellent tutorial and video. I bet it was tough getting your swim bait rod to Japan on your last trip. Makes you wonder if you should use a Megabass travel rod.
I flew with delta and had a rod tube so it flew for free but they did lose it somewhere in the process 😂 the Megabass travel swimbait rods are good but I wish they would do it with a different blank
Hello Sorry for my bad English It would be nice to attach board weights, though. It works pretty well just by attaching it to the front of the grenade sinker. Try adding 0.28oz. It is recommended to go just 10cm below the water surface. It moves really well even if you just roll it slowly. I always look forward to watching your videos, please do your best.
Hi Geoff, great video by the way! I’m really interested in using swimbaits. What are your thoughts on an off-market drt x tulala 73 remix or megabass dragoon for the tiny klash? Thanks again, cheers!
Hey Geoff, just a question. Do you fish the K9 with the split/welded rings that come on the bait, or do you take them off and tie direct to the line-tie? Thanks!
Yes, those are great weights as well, what’s nice is that Gan Craft makes a 4g board weight. So instead of having to put two of the Zappu 2g, you can just put one!
Hi Geoff, huge fan been following you for quite some time. You have got me onto the K9 & Deps 250, and have been throwing them quite a bit lately. Getting tons of huge followers, more do on the deps, even had a wolfpack come up on my Deps 250 yesterday. In your experience with this behavior, would the fish be more likely to eat a soft plastic swimbait? Thanks for any tips
So I'm in pike/musky/walleye territory. I dont want to lose one of my TKs or K9s. I just ordered knot2kinky 25lb. Thick floro seems like it would be a hinder to the actions. How often do you guys have an issue with pike biting off a glidebait? Do you guys use anything to combat this? I dont want to lose a bait thats over $100... im already scared of snagging. Im on the bank so im screwed. Hoping that sunline sniper 18lb floro main line is enough to bend out a hook if im desperate. I doubt it. Also thinking of replacing the hooks with ryugi brutal twin hooks to be more weedless.
Fortunately for me, I don’t have those kind of fish by me. I would run a normal muskie leader and see how bad the action is. Some guys just risk it for the biscuit though
@crazybassfisher oh for sure, I got the roll lip for the k9 and the short lip for the TK I feel like I use the short lip in the TK for cranking shallower and I don't really use the roll lip in the K9 much but I got a couple just in case lol
Only thing the k9's could improve on is swiveling hook hangers. That's only negative I can think of. I've been throwing the chimera shad a lot sense it came out last summer. That's become my 2nd favorite
I have that rod. I use it mostly for throwing 8" Huds but occasionally throw a Deps 250 on it. It might work decently with the K9 in std. glide mode, but the rod isn't parabolic enough for most treble-hooked glides, in my opinion. Better for the bigger (5oz+) glides and soft swimbaits with top hook (Huddleston) or weighted EWG (i.e. Citizen on a Beast hook). I prefer a softer tip and mid-section for dead walking the DRTs (thrown on a MB Valkyrie World Expedition 7'8" H travel rod). The Levante Leviathan's got a lot more backbone than I'd like. Good rod, though.
The Levante Leviathan is a solid rod that you can totally throw the K9 on, I do feel like it’s better for some of the larger glides as well like the 250.
For me it's the Bucca shad glide. I don't catch anything with my K9, but that's kinda cause i don't throw it much and i have the different lips, V-tails and everything
@@geoffreythekingfishing pretty much yeah it’s for that steady retrieve mood, runs maybe 1.5ft deep and it has the body wobble but the tail also kicks….it’s my go to for real shallow cranking basically!

Hey, Homeless. Love your content. Knowing him, Geoff will probably pick the biggest one out there on the market. Kinkoo Air Worm (13"), maybe? Not sure if anyone makes bigger.

This was a 300 level course! Thank you very much for taking the time to create and share this treasure trove of information about the DRT Klash 9.

How would you weight the tiny hi float
I normally just run the hi float stock actually, makes for a good wake bait!
I have a few Swimbaits but I’ll always pick up a tiny Klash, it’s very versatile.
Can’t beat the TiK, super fun bait to fish and the fish smoke it!

Have you gotten a yabase lip yet and where can you find them?
I have one pack of them that a Japanese friend gave me but I haven’t tried them yet. I’m sure DRTUSA will drop some this month
Is that golden shinners color? I agree k9is my fav. So far my favorite color has been sake bomber because somewhat transparent
He mentioned at the end the bait in his hands was the golden shiner color
Great video brother!!! Cheers!! :))
Another great informative video! Unless you have a line video coming up, are you using tatsu for the k9?
I am using 20lb FC Sniper or Shooter, I use tastu for my soft baits. I might transfer over all my line to tatsu though
Hey Geoff, just a question. Do you fish the K9 with the split/welded rings that come on the bait, or do you take them off and tie direct to the line-tie? Thanks!
I typically take that off and put a small decoy egg snap, size 3 or 4 and run it with that!
Hi Geoff. What’s your opinion on the Gan Craft sinker helper weights? Are they comparable to the Zappu board weights?
Yes, those are great weights as well, what’s nice is that Gan Craft makes a 4g board weight. So instead of having to put two of the Zappu 2g, you can just put one!

I’ve recently come around to the k9, haven’t been able to set it down lately.
You should put it down and only fish a mother
QUESTION? What does the "Roll Lip" do? What is it good for?
The roll lip gives off a similar action to the YTMK lip, I use to use that lip to achieve the YTMK!
wow what a great how to video. thanks for taking the time to explain all the ways to fish the drt.

What about the roll lip my bro? One of my favorite ways to fish the K9 and TK is the roll/short lip

Golden Shiner!

Man I really go back and forth between the K9 and the Tiny Klash. Especially since you can toss the TK all day and never really get fatigue.
That’s true, the TiK is a cheat code, catches fish and is super easy to toss around all day

That dead walk really looks like its name. That’s a shad on its last legs. I can see why they would slam that.
