Never had the trout, but had the Hinkle shad wrapped by Stanley Wheat. It was given to me by Swimbait Legend Johnny Ellis. I casted it off on 20 lb Big game. Prettiest bait I ever owned. I literally got tears in my eyes crying 😭😭😭. I have alot of killer baits, but that was the baddest bait I had!
I never lost a bait THAT expensive but I did pretty much lose all faith in my knots and/or the lines I use lol. Too many times I casted off a bait on the first day I got it when I was learning to throw big baits. I don't make enough money to be casting them off lol so I've now limited myself to like sub 4oz baits that don't cost over $80
@@andyd834 isn't most of the bait makers out there a one man team. An push out there baits no problem that isn't a good excuse tbh. I heard that one 1000 times usually never ends well.
@@andyd834 lol well to make a long story short he ask for money upfront with a wait time at around a year. You never get any updates or message back unless someone calls him out. If u need fins it will take months to get em. Just an overall inconvenience to deal with. Thats why most guys buy them second hand.
I feel like curved scales and fins adds the bait some sort “resistance” and making it easier to manage the glide unlike ones that shoots out, and slides out more then you wanted every end of the glide. You can still get it to slide out when you want to controlling the slack of line.. such a well made bait.
Those STX-45 hooks are great. Been fishing them for a couple of seasons now. Might have to try the SU hooks for a couple specific applications where I think a round bend would be optimal.
I used to love snook fishing, lived in Jupiter Florida for a few years. Would go out and fish docks at night in the intercoastal. Best years of my life
@@crazybassfisher maybe it helps. More ability for movement for the suction eats. I might try to replicate that hook hanger in a future build (dubbed: the g.king hook hanger) if that’s ok that is. I really appreciate your insight on that idea. Thanks
Kinda like a jerk bait. No real wrong time to fish it. More of a water condition factor comes into play but not to say that its as effective in all seasons. Always worth a shot in my opinion.
@@hairybass480 appreciate it. Do you know if I should be using a swivel with them? A guy told me to use a swivel so my line doesn't stay twisted when the bait helicopters on a cast, do you recommend this as well?
@@corvette_jake7225 to be honest i have never tried a swivel. I have found that I retie often enough that line twist isn't such a huge issue. I am no expert so there is that. Love when they do the succ
Why do I love these videos so much?? There isn't even any fishing 😄😄👍🏾
Thanks for watching my dude🙏
Thank you so much for sharing, always great to hear from Mike also ❤️🤙

Just test your knots before casting, holy moly
Great bait but the worst customer service in the game no doubt about it.
Isn't it a one guy operation?
Yeah, double edged sword for sure

Yo G mine just got here from the market, holy shit I am stoked, this video couldn't have came at a better time! Keep it up my man and tight lines!
Nice dude! You’ll love it!
How do you find out when hinkle makes drops in the hinkle trout want to get one

Some of the stickiest hooks I have ever used, love the 45’s
Would love to get the trout or shad but hard to come by hopefully soon can grab one
Either one is worth the struggle to get in my opinion, absolute fish catchers
It's an amazing bait! It's good in rivers.
How did i not know Paul painted them 🤔
Great vid man
The color way
Thanks for watching 🙏
Awesome info as always
I’ll have to pick up a couple to try out
😂😂😂 yeah for no less than $700 each. Have fun with that
@@morganvanschuyver hahahah he better be ready to wait over a year for one with money down in advance and no updates.
@@SouthJerseyBaitReviews yeah it's not even close to being worth it.
If only he actually shipped what people paid for
Yeah, it’s brutal for sure
just ordered myself one what size hooks do i need it didnt come with any... im ready to catch some of the 8 to 10lbers in my local lake ive seen
What gear ratio I picked the same reel for my two hinkle trouts I just got
Very cool video I like it! You can change the joint if you really wanted
Thanks for watching 🤟
I didn't start getting bent hooks until snook fishing; they're like bass with roid rage

What up brother how’s the heat treating y’all out there with the hole trout week at work
Thanks for watching, it’s still pretty hot here for sure!
@@crazybassfisher yes it’s hot and humid as hell down here in southeast Louisiana to but the fishing is pretty good
You should ask what they're catching big stripers on here in CA.
How can you tell if you have a older version?? I think I have one that was painted by pizz.
Paint, color of fins, and joint, that’s the only ways I have found
What’s up with the shape of the front hook hanger? I’ve only seen circular hook hangers. Did yours get smashed or did it come oval-ish shape?
That’s just from smashing the bait on a dock 🤣
@@crazybassfisher maybe it helps. More ability for movement for the suction eats. I might try to replicate that hook hanger in a future build (dubbed: the g.king hook hanger) if that’s ok that is. I really appreciate your insight on that idea. Thanks
No more double rings and quads?
Haven’t used double split rings in a long time, trying to have less stuff on my baits and down size everything
Please link up with someone and make a better swimbait. You have the history and experience and can change the game again.
There’s great swimbaits out there, I don’t think I could come up with something that could change the game
Do you have a decent hook-up ratio with hooks that small?!
Watch the video and find out, I talk about it in this very video
Is there a wrong time of the year to fish glidebaits? Or is it an all year type deal?

Glide baits can be used all year round with small adjustments such as switching size, cadence and profile
Is this part 1 of 6 on what makes famous swim baits so good and in episode 6 the “big reveal” of your new designed swimbait?
Haha that would be a great build up but unfortunately no, I’m not a bait designer or maker
So the best big glide bait is your favorite?
So can you burn it or will it blow out?
You can not burn the bait, you can get it to glide moderately fast but not a burn
That’s what lead tape is for
It’s definitely easier to weigh down a bait than try and lighten up the bait
I got lucky and grabbed one 😂
Nice, definitely not easy to come by these days!
I don't understand why doesn't someone make it better 🤷
Not much more you can change to it that wouldn’t affect it overall and change the bait completely
Brave using fluoro with expensive baits like that...seen fluoro just snap multiple times, for no apparent reason...20-30 lb. Monofilament for me
I’ve snapped these baits off with both flouro and mono, any line will snap
Have you ever caught a fish with that big bait.
Interesting question
The bad customer service isn’t worth it lol
It’s brutal but for me, I don’t mind cause these are my favorite baits
