Why is the Hilux interior not getting more criticism??!! It is the ugliest and cheapest thing I've ever seen. Quite literally *8 years old*. No major upgrades since 2016. The worst part? It's 75k. At least in the Raptor it's priced according to it's quality, capability and tech. I can spend 30k on a Mitsubishi and get 5 times the interior of the Hilux. Not to mention that there's no upgrades to the drivetrain, and it's still leaf sprung. It's literally just a body kit. The next gen needs to do better.

Why does an $89k vehicle not have a soft opening tailgate? You should be able to let it go and it drops slowly and softly without a bang. Crikey - ALL Utes should do this. It’s like soft close drawers in the kitchen. I’m not really sure why they talk about tyres much as these are a consumable item and you as choose any tyres you want - even when you buy it. You just tell the dealer to fit the tyres you want before purchase. The factory tyres aren’t a requirement - almost no one keeps them anyway. Parking any Ute is a cakewalk. I drive a 6.6m long BoxTruck in the city and it’s easy to park - without a rear mirror too.
Rangers tailgate are spring loaded, hilux’ one just drop like a dumbbell… but either way, u can get a aftermarket gas strut for both car for about 100 bucks, it will turn to softclose tailgate
Should we not be comparing the hilux Gr sport to the Ford Ranger Wildtrack ???? The Raptor in my opinion is a different league all together am I wrong ?

The magic sauce will be in the Hybrid version and fuel consumption. Toyota engines are reliable but to add the GR name to something you need to step-up vs the Ranger Raptor. Me thinks it could be hybrid tech. Relating to liners, rubber not plastic, it will rust.
I know you did mention it..but it really bothers me that everyone forgets that this current 8th generation hilux was first released back in 2015 and of course as you said it has undergone facelifts etc but really not much has changed, so of course its behind in really every way, but its proven and reliable. Unfortunately all these carmakers dont release their new models/generations in sync so they are never really an apples for apples comparison. So of course the ford is far fancier inside and more up to date with tech etc, but when toyota finally release a 9th generation then we can do a better comparison. Fords have always had a niggly reputation for reliability and build quality issues, they seem to prioritise leading tech and stance over reliability
Buy the hilux Rogue, comes with electric roller shutter, removable marine carpet in tub, better interior. Dont get the GR. Put in a 3" lift suspension kit $3.5k, new, bigger rims, tyres $5k, dyno it $1k, front locker $1k....you've got a very good ute, that you've added your own custom too that drives very well and it's still cheaper then the Raptor and does 10.5l/100 instead of 16l/100. It has a higher tow capacity and weight capacity.
If your planning buy another bakkie in the next 5 years go for a Ranger 😅 but if planning to keep your bakkie for more than a decade please go for a Toyota 😂. Toyota leads the way.
Sam I love the effort you and the team put into these videos, but please this is a stupid comparison. The Hilux GR Sport is no competitor to the Ranger Raptor and you know it, a more fair comparison obviously is Hilux GR Sport v Ranger Wildtrack X (which is sold out). The Ranger Raptor clearly sits alone in its own market segment. Also since you guys insist on doing such comparisons then why was the Nissan Navara Pro4X not included (not the Warrior version)? Granted the Navara wont win anything other than maybe metro ride (due to coil spring rear suspension) but it still should of been included.
Unfortunately because of the differences in on-road costs in each state and territory (up to $4000 difference on vehicles like these) it's not possible to quote the on-road prices easily. We use pricing before on-road costs as a more easily comparable baseline.
Hilux is like Nokia. Stayed in the past. Ranger is like iPhone. I have a late SR5 2020 and without the GR red, you couldn't tell there is 4 years difference.
Ford missed the scoop, they should have offered a diesel engine in the Raptor, fuel prices are way to high for petrol with a crap range. I'll go the hilux 48v Rogue, which has more fruit and less dollars than the GR sport anyway.
Ford is better at all aspect when driving comparison but when come for repairing and maintenance Toyota is much practical and easier less cost but Mitsubishi Triton is much much better interm of maintenance costs
Toyota is 15yrs back on the interior which make me hate it….when I have a car I spend 95% driving it inside so the interior is very important I need to be comfortable and happy the other 5% would be used when locking the car and turn back to see how beautiful it is….So Toyota it’s a big turn off for me it’s interior.

The magic sauce will be in the Hybrid version and fuel consumption. Toyota engines are reliable but to add the GR name to something you need to step-up vs the Ranger Raptor. Me thinks it could be hybrid tech. Relating to liners, rubber not plastic, it will rust.
The Ranger Raptor is not just a bakkie/truck. You get connected to it.
The Raptor can also come with the 2L diesel if prefered
Not for the new gen raptor, its only offered in petrol. previous generation was the diesel one
Thank you for the review
Raptor all the way. Actually I'd buy anything but a Toyota
Are you from America🌈
@@ItsMe-pz9mk Australia mate
Ford raptor vs Toyota Tacoma. Real vs. 100% prefer Tacoma ❤
Hola muy bueno el video,la Ranger raptor es muy deportiva , para uso diario me parece mejor la Hilux saludos desde Córdoba Argentina 😊
¡Gracias por tu comentario! Hola desde Australia
Hardly a fare comparison one is $20,000 more !!! Ie the $95,000 Raptor
Worth every $ more. Even if the GR is 40k cheaper, I will still buy the 95k Raptor
It's crazy that the Toyota is so expensive, some wheel arches and a few badges.
The Hilux tailgate doesn't have central locking??? For 75k???
Yeah what a joke.
In South Africa the gr tailgate works on central locking. It also come standard with bf goodrich tyres
there are 15000 reasons why you are ccomparing the wrong car
Now do the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Vs Ford Ranger Raptor
Take away: if you drink chocolate milk in rectangular cartons, get the Hilux.
So the Hilux GR Sport is better at being a ute then the Ranger Raptor. It can tow more, haul more and is more fuel efficient on top of it all.
oh stop being stupid.
review them after 8 years..
ranger raptor ❤
You won't get wrong on getting a Toyota Hilux. Mechanic knows best.
while the Raptor is a toys for Mamas boys only.
27:15 wow that was close :D
Its basically no competition. Raptor all the way.
Bos coba reviw isuzu d max pasti y menantang
Why keep comparing these to Hilux is nowhere neer the Raptor
You forgot this one Ford- fix or repair daily
Ford everyday ❤
Please just quote on road costs.
8.6 l per 100 km in my Toyota
15,5 smiles per 100m in my Raptor😂 nothing beats that👊
@@catchawakeup6411 can’t beat them smiles, had mine for just over 6 months now and still feel like a kid with a new toy when I go to hop in it
I’m a regular 4X4 driver, too much technology, does not mix with sand, mud, and water , Give me a Hilux any day
Ford is better at all aspect when driving comparison but when come for repairing and maintenance Toyota is much practical and easier less cost but Mitsubishi Triton is much much better interm of maintenance costs
This gen's Hilux is obviously outdated, Toyota should generation change it to the latest Taco based new gen Hilux ASAP.
Its good when the cabin and tray locks separately because valuables are less likely to be stolen from the tray in case of a break in
I thought the ranger raptor has 400 HP?
The 292kW Ranger Raptor works out to 392HP, close but not quite 400HP.
