@phillipthethird42 Simple Green, Purple Power, cleaning vinegar, scrub brushes and pressure washer. I also got a long appliance (gas line) cleaning brush from my local hardware store. I chucked it up in my drill (be careful to not spin it too fast, it will bend) and run that back and forth through the oil passages with brake clean and pressure washer as it passes through the lifter bores. It will clean up, you just gotta keep after it.

I took a look at your engine. You are right, it is pretty slimy. Hard work and elbow grease can clean it up.
