I made my MIL one of these aprons yesterday using your tutorial. It turned out so well my sisters thought I’d sent them a picture of an apron I’d purchased rather than my first sewing project I’d done myself!!
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Yes, this was the clearest video I watched on making this egg apron. Most of the others were fairly confusing when it came to making and using the egg panels. Thanks!
Omgoodness!!! I love this! Thank you so so so much! I was so happy to see this pop up in my notifications. I’m so happy I won’t have to use my basket anymore! Thank you so much for taking the time to dedicate to the apron. I can’t wait to make it and see what the girls do with the apron on instead of the basket. I appreciate you so much
I've watched a few egg apron vids by different people now and this is still my favourite. Watching this again today after watching a couple of your shop tour vids made me wonder if you've thought of making carpenter-type aprons - you could display them along the tool section in your shop, or the kid's toys section. I know it might be hard to find fabric sturdy enough for an adult's one, but I reckon kid-sized ones would make great gifts to pair with kids carpentry tool sets... What do you think, Christine?
That is lovely! My friend could use that for sure and she is a dab hand at creating things, me however, If I tired to use it, let's just say we'd probably end up with scrambled egg lol! Very inventive 👍
Haha, if I jiggle my waist any harder Sollers, I'd end up with scrambled eggs as well 🤣🤣.... by the way, I'm still gonna sing for you when I go on the next scrap run with Chris 😆
Oh and I shared your video with her and she said your apron would be better than her back pocket like the other day when she forgot the egg was in there🤣
Thank you for such a great video. I have an order for an egg apron and I had no clue they are a thing. The lady that owns the shop where I sell my items saw a post on my page asking if I’d make one and she went crazy. She wants me to make them to sell in her shop.
I’m a new subscriber.. My friend asked me to make an egg apron and I just started laughing 😂.. Then your video popped up on my feed.. I have to say this an excellent tutorial \. Thank you for not missing any steps.. Can I also ask what would be a good amount to charge for this apron….😎
Thanks Valerie. Pricing is a tough one for this. I usually don't charge for fabric as I get most of mine for free, and I'm always preaching about charging people what your time is worth. I plan to try $50 AU for mine which would cover about $15-$20 fabric, and the rest is labour. 😀
Until today I had never heard of a Egg Harvesting 12 pocket collecting apron. I am wondering what else this could be used for? It is a very pretty apron. I had to use an egg basket (butt shaped basket) and a little straw (or grass) when I was a girl and had to gather the eggs. A collecting apron would not have worked for me then; because, I had to climb to reach the nesting boxes. I was always scared that one of the hens would peck me in an eye.
Haha, I'm still aprehensive around chooks..... You could use the pleated pocket idea for an Advent calendar, or a wall hanging to store bits & pieces 😄
I loved this idea, and so am in the middle of making it. I was careful to follow your measurements exactly with the template, but when finished making the pockets, my fabric strips were only 18 inches! Did anyone else have this problem?
I hope you've got it sorted. If not, try adding some extra length to the fabric to make the extra pocket. With the pleats in, it shouldn't be noticed 😀
Thanks for the info Joe. I've just tried to do some research, but don't seem to come up with anything. Would you know who the company is? There seems to be lots of different ones selling them with the same name 😀
I made several 12 pocket aprons last year to sell at a craft show in Nov. I didn't sell any of them. I also made some for children and I didn't sell any of those either. I was very disappointed
That is disappointing Sheila. I've cut out enough for two, and will give them a go in the shop, but not very hopeful as I think I have to put too high a price on them to make a profit 😄

What a fantastic compliment from your sisters. Well done Daisy😀
Great idea!! Also a really good tutorial!! Thank you!
That is the cutest....makes me wish I have chickens...lol
Haha, me too Bonnie 😁
As usual, top video, Christine.
Thanks Delka 😀
I want to thank you for the template. It was very helpful. ❤ Thank you for this tutorial. 😊
You're very welcome tanya. Thank you😁

I made 2 of these for DIL for Christmas and they were perfect. Thank you.
I saw them on FB today. They look fabulous😁
That is so interesting to me. I have never seen one. What a great idea!
Thanks Snow Shadow. It was nice to do something a little different 😄
Christmas presents for all my chicken farmers! I will watch this again and while sewing the apron. Thanks for doing this!
I'm sure your friends will love this😀
This is a great tutorial that yielded a great product! I would definitely recommend :). Took me about 3 hours from start to finish.
That's fantastic. Thanks for sharing! 😀
Oh how awesome! Thank you...seems like everyone I know has chickens now! This is great!
Everyone except me! I'd love to have some chooks in the yard 😀
Tks for sharing this project with us 😊
You're very welcome😁
Great! Love it and simple to me. Thank you!
Thanks Marjorie 😀
Thank you for sharing this tutorial!!
You're very welcome Kathleen😀
Love this video. I have actually made a few of these from another pattern. But this is a little easier. I’ll be making this one. Thanks so much.
Thanks Robin. I wondered if I might have been getting too complicated 🤪
Thanks for a great video! Well explained, good view of your work, and nice tips! I just made it today, and my chicken-sister will love it!
That's awesome Robin. Thanks for sharing 😁
Thank you so much for this great tutorial. I was able to finish in about 3 hours. Going to be a great gift for my chicken loving friend for Christmas.
That's awesome Stephanie. Well done!😀
fun learning to sew with your tut's
Thanks Maxine 😀
Love this apron! What a great idea...😊
Thank you Sue! 😊
Thank you for sharing this. now to try and do a tidy hanger for the wall with roughly the same principle.
That's a great idea! Perfect for an Advent calendar😀
You are sew clever! I would’ve never been able to figure it out by myself! You made it look so easy😊 Thank you🌷
You are so welcome Tina 😄
Ohhhh, I make these and have orders for two more so I may need to try yours with more pockets! Thanks for sharing!
That's wonderful Vicki. I've never sold these before. How do they go for you? 😀

Excellent idea!! You could maybe do a set, an egg harvesting apron and a gardening apron for tools and gloves.
That's a great idea. I started a harvesting apron a while back. Should get back to it🤣
Thats, it keep putting ideas in my head. lol
Haha, but wait! There's more to come 🤣🤣
These are trending
They're fun to make too. I know my kids would have loved them when they were younger😀
Just wondering if you could use elast on the top and gather at bottom instead of pleats?
That's a great idea. If I ever get the time, I may do an elastic version😁
Awesome
Thanks Tracey 😀

Is the measurements for the apron is it 17” wide x 21 1/2” tall? Thanks for a wonderful tutorial
It's the other way round Deena. 17inches long x 21 1/2" wide
Love this! You mentioned the paper template is 43 inches long but the fabric pocket piece is 42 inches long. How does it work out? I'm stuck.
Jeanette, the last edges just get attached to the side of the apron. It won't hurt that the fabric is shorter than the paper😀

Do you take orders for the egg aprons ???
Got a girlfriend that has chickens 🐓
Would make great presents 🎁

Yes Faye. I can take orders for these aprons. I have these priced in the shop at the moment for $50 each. 😀
Well i never knew there was such a thing, makes sense though.
