My daughter asked me to make her a double oven mitt, even sending me an image of one. In looking at different YT channels, I liked your mitts and that it was reversible. I used fabric from an old embroidered dress of my mother’s (who passed a few years back) knowing that my daughter would be the only one to appreciate it. I FaceTime’d her and showed her the end result and she began to cry. Thank you for making this possible.
This is a great idea I see early enough to sew for Christmas gifts. A fun idea for your store, to use up some scraps, are dust covers for hangers. They are a nice vintage idea that people still like. Thank you for the videos. Just love the card holders from CDs.
This is just what I was looking for, easy to follow instructions and no binding need. I made my first double oven mitt and already have the fabric cut for 3 more as hostess gifts.
Thank you so much for sharing your pattern and for taking the time to film all of your tutorials. I will definitely be trying this out and I like the contrast pocket the best❤. Happy stitching and hugs, Diane 😘
Yay, no binding! Many others use binding on their double oven mitts, but when sewing to sell, that extra time takes away from profit or you have to increase your price. Thank you!
I think the oven mitt with the contrast color is classier looking. Thank you soooo much for the lesson. I did notice on the floor where your going to make regular oven mitts. I make a lot of those. There is an Accut die cutter for cutting them out. It does make that part faster and easier. God Bless you ma’am.
I like the yellow banded one. I love yellow!! I'm going to make one for me but will use several layers of flannelette for wadding as i have it on hand. Thank you for your tutorial.
Both oven mitts are just so fun and useful. Thank you for your calm and thorough teaching. I’ve just discovered your site and subscribed-looking forward to many more projects with you. Thanks very much for including your selling price!
I like both. The oven mitt with the contrast just has a special touch and just catches the eye. Great job! Love your videos. Karon from Mississippi in USA
I like the one with the yellow band the best. However, I like them both. I have been needing one for these for years; and, now that I'm a senor citizen, I really need one of these to safely lift my hot dutch ovens, roasting pans, and cookie sheets without getting burned badly again. I was wondering why you did not quilt this before finishing it? Quilting would be hard to do on the finished mitt. Will the batting stay together through washings? I'm not planning to make and sell these; but, they will make perfect gifts for many friends, former co-workers, teachers, and kin who really need them. Thank you so much for this greatly needed instructional video.
Thanks Arvetta. I didn't quilt this because I usually sew to sell and it keeps my labour costs down, and to make the project easier for beginners. I have an old one in my kitchen that I've used for years and wash it regularly, the batting has held up very well there. 😄🙂
Another rippa project to add to the list, I’m about to go make a bon bon, that’s how I found you through your tutorial, I look so forward to your new videos popping in 🔔
Ukrainian colours for sure 😀 Is the Insul-brite available at Spotties or Lincaraft that you know of? I've done a quick search with that name and nothing comes up on their search engines. If not, what is a alternative that might be as good from there? When you mentioned 'vintage fabric' can you define that for me please? Thanks. Love this project. Once I get that insulation sorted I will go through my stash and see what I have.
What a great observation Kerry. I hadn't realised the colours. I think Spotlight should sell insulbrite as they deal with the same supplier as me. If you can't get it, I can add it to my website if you wanted to order it. Alternatively, you can use will or cotton wadding. Just use two layers of each😀
Hi Christine. I love these and particularly like the contrast. I love the way teach. Im learning so much from you. You just make it so easy. I have one question if thats ok. I've searched our local spotlight store (Perth) and it doesn't sell insulbrite. Can you use any wadding for this, or does it have to be heatproof or something. Thanks so much for always sharing what your up to, and especially for the tutorials. Your a little diamond. Happy Easter xxx
Thanks Lorraine. Happy Easter to you too. Spotlight should sell Insul-Brite, but you can use cotton or wool wadding instead. I'd use two layers of each. If you want to use the Insul-brite, I've added it to my website, but wadding will work 😀
I enjoy you videos very much. So very precise and informative. I plan to make several of your sewing projects and sell them in a small booth I rent in a mall craft shop. I am wondering if the fabric you are using to make the double oven mitt is 100% cotton or can you use a cotton blend? Thanks
That's great Reba. You're going to be very busy. Cotton is best to use, particularly when around heat. I accidentally used poly Cotton blend on another, and fabric melted whilst ironing😆
Yes Dawn, I'm in Australia. Among other things I'm a second hand dealer, and have an old wares store. The plate would have been something I found in a deceased estate clean out. Most likely a souvenir 😀
Christine, I have a question about insulation materials, not the heat kind but the cooling kind. Our Coles cold bags are about at better days, and the new ones they have are smaller than the ones we currently have, so I am thinking to make 'tote bags' and line them and put a zipper around the top - talk about adventurous! - do you know what I need to ask for at either Spotlight or LIncraft as far as that shiny liner is concerned? Thank you.
Kerry, I'm not sure what Spotlight would call it, or even if they have this product. I could only find Legacy insulated wadding on their website. I have a couple of Aldi cooler bags that have completely perished that I plan on recovering in a video soon. Next time I speak to my rep, I'll ask if he knows of a product 😀
I'm sure Darth Vader will be pleased to know that you always turn the seam to the dark side! 😆
Yes, the force was with it 🤣
That is exactly what I said to myself, lol

That's so lovely. Thank you for sharing. Your daughter will love it 😃
Enjoy your videos! I prefer the contrast but both are very nice.
Thanks Deborah😁

Beautiful sowing I am m going to making for my daughter birthday thank you so much may the Lord continue blessed you 💖🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You are so welcome Olga. Thank you😀
Another useful project!! Love waiting for your tutorials to come in, I always know it's going to be something I can do and is practical. Thank you. 😊💕
Thank you so much PUG 😁
This is just what I was looking for, easy to follow instructions and no binding need. I made my first double oven mitt and already have the fabric cut for 3 more as hostess gifts.
That's awesome Laura. I really need to make more too 😀
Thank you so much for sharing your pattern and for taking the time to film all of your tutorials. I will definitely be trying this out and I like the contrast pocket the best❤.

I like the contrast one.
Been watching your videos for a while and I really like them. Thank you.
Thank you Karen 😊

Thanks Roberta. I don't have an accucutter, but it would certainly make the job a lot quicker 😀
Thank you for all your tips and classes
You're welcome Bev 😊
Thank you for the great tutorial and I prefer the contrast
You're welcome Elly, so do I 😀
Yes thank you so much for sharing the pattern. I will make a bunch for gifts this year. Yes the contrast mitt the best.
That's great Betty. Happy sewing 😀
I loved the contrast mitt. Thank you for these videos. Loving them x
Thanks Kaileen ☺️
thanks for the tutorial. they both are great but I think I like the one with the band on the mitts better. makes it stand out. great job.
Thanks Sandy. Yes the yellow makes it pop! 😀
I like the yellow banded one. I love yellow!! I'm going to make one for me but will use several layers of flannelette for wadding as i have it on hand. Thank you for your tutorial.
That's a great idea Dellka😀
Love the one with the different color. Thank you
Me too 😊

I love them both but I think the one with the contrasting band just stands out a bit more. Great video and I can’t wait to give it a go. 🤞
I agree Sandra. Thank you 🌝
I just made an apron that has a kitchen towel in the center and a panel on either side with potholders made with the Insul Brite and cotton batting.
OOH, that sounds very intriguing Shannon 😀
Love it! Watching from Michigan 😆
I like both styles. Thank you for sharing ❤ 😍
You are so welcome Niccole 😀
contrast is beautiful
Thanks Treasa 😀
I vote for the contrast color.
Me too 😁
Thanks for the awesome video! I can't wait to make one both ways!! I can't decide which I like better...
You'll have to make lots of each before you decide 😁
Another rippa project to add to the list, I’m about to go make a bon bon, that’s how I found you through your tutorial, I look so forward to your new videos popping in 🔔
That's great Jenny. The BonBons were a real hit in our house last Xmas 😀😀
I like them both. I think it would depend on the fabric you use if it has several colors that you could pick out a contrast or not. Thank you.
I agree Cynthia. Sometimes less is good😁
Contrasting color is my favorite. May I ask how sewing came about in your life. Did you go to school or self taught. You seem to really enjoy sewing.
Mine too Barbara. I'm mostly self taught, and yes, I absolutely love to sew, and bake, and garden. Perhaps I'll do a video on my sewing journey 😊
I like them both.
Me too, though I am more drawn to the yellow 😀
These are really smart! Love it and anxious to make some!!!
Thanks kathie. Hop to it! 😁😁
This is awesome. Thankyou 🌷
Thank you Sue 🌝
Nicely done great tutorial
Thank you! Cheers!😀

@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thanks Christine. I'll have a look there next pay day and go in and ask, their search engine is not the best I have found.
Love this make. Insulbrite is expensive here in the UK. Pauline.
Nannie, you can use cotton or wool batting instead. Use a couple of layers for each😄
Christine do you have a tutorial for a can koozie/ cozi ?
I'd never heard of them until now Tina😀
Thanks for sharing, I prefer the contrast ones. but both would look good in any kitchen. Now to have a go.
You're welcome Stewart. Happy sewing! 😊
Hi Christine
Have you ever made butterfly ovem mitts
Not yet, but can add it to the list😁
SO COOL!

@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thank you
With this being reversible, does it only take one layer of insulbrite?
Chicka, one layer is enough, but some people like to double it. I prefer single😀
Are you able to suggest a place where we can get labels made?
I get mine from www.wunderlabel.com.au, you can also get them from Alibaba, and loads of other places 🙂
With contrast
Me too😄
After watching your raspberry cake video, I thought you could make a padded bowel pad to rest the bowel on when using a hand beater.
That is a fabulous idea Petra. Now I really have to make one😁
I'm wondering where you are located?
I'm located in Nagambie Vic Gailzsz 😀
Is the lining fabric placed right sides together??😢
Yes they are Barbara😀
why cant i print your instructions?
I don't think TH-cam have that feature Elizabeth😀
