I've been to Maui a dozen times now, never done a Mac nut tour, the heading got me. So glad to see what John is doing with the land, just the number of people and businesses he helps. It was a great video learning about the great things he is doing for the island . Can't wait until I visit again and check it out
Thanks for watching. The plantation is a wonderful place and very cool to see everything he is growing. I love that if you have mac nuts on Maui, they came from Waihe'e Valley.
Aloha again! So glad you did this one. We never knew that this place existed but most definitely worth a visit. Stay well you three, we are hoping to be back in April next year!
Cool Video! Did you guys make it out to Tony's Place in Hana Yet. New place - pretty awesome. Out by Hamoa Beach. Fresh fish and burgers were amazing! Aloha!
When I tried to view the farm online for more information, it says "closed for good". Is that true? My husband and I are coming out in January from Maine and have been watching all of your videos. We would love to visit the farm ( I'm a huge plant and garden nerd)
No, that’s not correct. Let me see if I can get some more information. The farm cafe should be open now, even if the tour itself isn’t yet up and running.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Any more information on that? I also looked it up online just today, and it says permanently closed. It made me worry that maybe the owner had gotten sick in the pandemic or something. Even if he's not open to tours, please let us know if he's ok?
Thanks for this video! Our family is coming to Maui in March and we have been enjoying your videos. We also saw that they were closed as is the tropical plantation. Is there a way to connect with the owners of the Mac nut farm to see if they might be offering the tours?
Aloha Brenda, congrats on booking a trip in March. That is a great time to visit. Yeah, it was a shame to see the Maui Tropical Plantation close its doors. John hasn't told us when he plans to start tours at his Mac Nut farm but we will keep you posted. You can check out his farm-to-table roadside cafe if you're in the area - Ula’Ula Cafe at 1765 Kahekili Hwy, Wailuku, HI 96793
@TheHawaiiVacationGuide everything on Thompson road was once my grandfather's. My grandfather and the 3 wife's he outlived are buried at the end of the road. You should do a horse back ride with my father Gerard Thompson, owner of the Thompson ranch. My grandfather was the first grand Marshall of the 4th of July parade. My aunt Theresa is very involved with the 4th of July parade and also knows alot of upcountry history. People don't understand what growing up during that time upcountry was like.

Is it open for tours yet? I'm here now and would like a tour
I’m afraid not! You can visit their Ula Ula Cafe
I am not sure how to book this tour. Do you have a link? Thanks!
Thanks
Is this open to public now ? I’m visiting soon and would love to go !
I'm afraid not but check out their cafe, Ula Ula Cafe for some great food.
I can't find it. Google maps shows it as permanently closed and shows it in the Iao stream in the middle of Wailuku?
Hit up his Ula’Ula cafe for his farm to table food. His plantation isn’t open for tours yet.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Thanks! We get on the plane in a few hours.
John was my neighbor on Thompson road.
I heard he had Oprah as a neighbor too. Good company to keep. John was the best part of the tour.

So is this place now open for Public Tours? I'm heading to Maui in 2 weeks, might want to check it out! Mahalo! ; )
Afraid not! But John has is Ula Ula Cafe open at his plantation. If going up in that direction, it is worth stopping for lunch!

Have a wonderful trip out in September! Nice job getting those fins. Get a weight belt and you can do some free driving.
nice
I was trying to find this plantation on a map but Google says that is permanently closed. Do you know if that's true?
The plantation isn’t closed but he hasn’t started offering tours yet. We will update the video description when he does and share in our newsletter!
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide thank you! I'd be interested in going next time I visit Maui
Permanently closed???
They decided not to do tours. Check out their Ula Ula cafe for farm to table food. Roadside cafe, very good!
Lep video🙋🌁✈️🇷🇸👍
Just looked at Google maps and it showed the biz permanently closed.
John hasn't started tours yet but his Ula Ula Cafe is open, in google maps.
Hi do you have information on the farm....website maybe or phone number ? to go and visit the farm. thank you
Thanks for asking. You can visit their farm cafe. Look up Ula Ula Cafe.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide thank you, do u know how we can book luau for maui?
If I'm looking at the right place, I believe they are now permanently closed.
They never ended up doing tours but their Ula Ula cafe is worth stopping at
Poorly managed farm.
