Overall a pretty good Vega run on the hardest difficulty. It could be improved a bit here and there, but I didn't want to spend too much time on it... The last round vs Bison is kinda bad... sadness...

A: Names - because this is the original Japanese version and those are the original names the game was designed with. Detailed explanation available on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._Bison - check the paragraph "Conception and development".
A: Damage - because this is the original Japanese version and the Japanese version has bug corrections, balance tweaks, *a higher damage rate* and a somewhat smarter AI - wiki.supercombo.gg/w/Street_Fighter_2:_Champion_Edition - check the paragraph "Differences between U.S.A./World and Japan versions".

0:21 Jumping heavy kick (descending), jumping medium kick (rising).
In thirty years I had no idea this combo existed!
I don't think it's an actual combo, but it has very fast startup frames and it interrupts most of the CPU's counter attacks. I use that move mostly to set up for the suplex throw. Doing a very early jumping kick in the CPU's hitbox "almost" guarantees you will be able to get a suplex throw on landing. This is punishable vs human player if they react in time, so not really recommended in 1v1 player vs player. CPU will also punish that occasionally.

Is Vega's highest damage dizzy combo really just a basic throw?
There is a higher damage combo you can do, but it's harder to set it up because on the hardest difficulty the CPU recovers from dizzy quite quickly and the setup for the combo requires doing a slide and charging/holding down-back a little bit.
I'm doing that combo first round vs Ken at 2:58 but on the second round when I tried do it again, he recovered from dizzy pretty quick and I wasn't able to do it anymore, so just the basic throw is probably the best option in most cases.

@@deviouxFGC But even more interesting is that Ken is already dazed when the combo hits (2:57) but then he is dazed again at the end of the combo (3:02). This is a rare example of a re-dizzying combo and I'm assuming the developers never meant to allow this to happen.
@@TallSilentGuy Hard to say if re-dizzy were taken into consideration, I think they were considering how the dizzy mechanic works. When you are dizzy, the first hit after the dizzy will reset the stun meter and all hits which follow keep adding to the stun meter, but scaled down. This makes me think that re-dizzys were accounted for.

Vega, Balrog, Ryu, Ken... Any plan of doing a run with Sagat ? Isn't he a top character in this game ? (great vids btw)
I probably will do Sagat at some point, I can play him pretty decent, I know all the combos and such, but I'm just not a fan of him :) At the moment I prefer to speedrun only the characters that I actually enjoy playing the most and then later on I might do others as well.

What happened to the character sound effects when they lose?
I don't know. Sometimes you hear them, sometimes you don't. Guess that's just how the Japanese version is.

@@BruceLeroyUK Actually, it seems to be related to what move you end the round with. If you end the round with the throw/slam, it will do the "boomy" sound effect and the screen will shake, it won't play the character death sound. And if you end a round with a normal move, like a sweep or a kick, then it will play the character death sound effect.
@@deviouxFGC do you play any of the other Street Fighter games, in particular, SFIV and SFV?
@@BruceLeroyUK No, I don't play SF4 and SF5. I got a fightstick only late 2021 and by that time it was already a bit too late and I didn't have the time to put into them. I will be playing SF6 since day 1 when it comes out.
No wonder if the Japanese version is the easiest to master, only Balrog is difficult to defeat from there they are all a flan
It's the same on the US version. You can beat them using exactly the same strategies.

You can tell by the computers moves they don't attack the way the would on the hardest. Just saying
@@petersalinas8350The CPU has patterns dum dum. If you know the patterns it's not that hard to deal with and I have close to 20k hours on this game... This speedrun has also been verified and approved on speedrun.com by admins more knowledgable than you. I'd love to see your gameplay tho, I'm sure the skill level would be through the roof.
