That filter thing is so true. But also I think you can be more nice about not spreading gossip around. If someone starts gossiping to you then they feel you are their friend or they are letting it out or whatever and then you say “that’s not what we’re focusing on right now” in your fancy voice. That’s like telling them “I don’t care, you’re a child, I’m more mature, shut up”. Like it’s aggressive and hurtful. You could instead of being aggressive like that, just dilute the gossip into nothing. Like change the topic to something funny or just casually let the topic go without giving it anything. You don’t have to be condescending to the person who started the gossip or rude to them like you are implying.

On treating everyone as an equal:
My girlfriend and I were going in to the Newport aquarium, and my girlfriend was like “idk if I can park there..” we saw a guy walking out of the hotel we were walking past, and we asked him if he knew if our parking spot was ok. He said yes, and he happened to be a manager at that hotel. He gave us a little card that had a discount code for the aquarium- it was like 5% or something, nothing major, but he was very happy to talk to us and made us feel like we were the most important people on the street. From then on anytime we were asked if we knew a good place to stay around there- we tell people the Hampton right next to the aquarium. And we tell them that story about the super nice manager who took the time to tell us our parking spot wasn’t going to get us towed and gave us a tiny discount on tickets to the aquarium and we weren’t even staying at his hotel. That interaction took about 3 minutes or less? We have recommended 8 people to stay at that hotel, all 8 of them have for Atleast 2-3 nights? That’s like, 150x3=450 450x8=3,600 dollars. Not to mention the upcoming trips we have booked there to go to Cincinnati.
The most effective practice you can exercise is to make people want to work for you. This dude’s less than 5minute interaction with us has earned the hotel 3,600 dollars and continues to gain traction.
Never, ever, ever, underestimate that kind of thing. It can make or break a business.

That was very useful thank you very much.
It seems like you're viewing this from your bubble only, which is fair enough. If I may make some suggestions, I thought you missed out on
    - Giving positive feed back where necessary/encouragement.
    - Empathy,
    - Honesty,
    - Appreciating diversity: Racial, cultural, religious, etc...
    - Respect
    - Encouragement...
As you said yourself there's a lot more to take into account, and it really depends on who you are dealing with.
I found that the kind or relationship that you'd have with a manager is usually different from that with a colleague, which in turn is also often different when you are dealing with a subordinate. The way you deal with 3rd parties/clients is also different. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Also, I wanted to highlight that sometimes when you shut down gossip you make it that the gossiper might not find you a friendly person to be around; this can create distance which can indirectly turn them away from you, and even against you. Some gossips are actually based on real truth and people sometimes just want somebody to talk to. The question is how do you listen without actually getting involved!?! I'd like to think that listening without actually feeding into it while giving your opinion only if asked is a safer practice. Sometimes you're not working on something and people engage in a conversation because they find you easy to talk to. Do you get my point?
After all said and done, it was a fantastic presentation and I enjoyed it very much

The biggest rule is this. Find out what the customer needs, then fill that need.
