The NYC squatter laws are actually mind blowing. The fact you have to take squatters who never signed a lease to eviction court which takes 3+ months is insane. These laws have me convinced there are straight up communists running NYC…
Squatter's law is so antiqued - from 1862. And it was for ABANDONED Properties and not empty/vacant houses. Fake lease not a lease. Obviously NY lawmakers can't tell the difference between squatters and trespassers.
How would I feel?? This is INSANE...a NIGHTMARE...Thieves have more rights rather than good standing citizens?? God bless anyone out there going through a similar situation! My suggestion is DO NOT leave the property by itself!! Thank you for your help because I am sure someone out there is going to need it....Gb
I would give a real legal lease for a nominal rent ($1) to another group of tenants who would then have the legal right to be on premises, and pay them a nice undisclosed "maintenance fee" to "remove the trash" from the property.
Look at the bigger picture if the squatters stays they are not paying land taxes owners stop paying the land tax ends in debt. Government walks in take the property. From squatters and owners you'll own nothing and be happy
this is why buying a home where Squatters right are around is as of right now not worth it. the value of such homes are worthless. but states where there are no such thigns as Squatters right is where it's worth buying a homes such as the state of florida.
I understand your perspective. What I would say about Florida though is insurance for many has been tough. Premiums have sky rocketed because some companies have decided to leave the state. So I would encourage anyone to be well informed before venturing into Florida.
1,000,000 houses stolen seems cap. Where is that sourced from? Number seems very off. Fake statistics don't help a real problem. Personally divested from rental because of stuff like this. Good content though, just don't mix lies and truth imo
May I ask why you’re assuming that I’m lying? The estimated value of the home is $1m from the multiple sources I read about this case as I prepared for the video. If that’s your main takeaway from the content that’s sad. You’re welcome to verify on your own but to say I’m spreading false information is a wild accusation…
I did look it up. There is nowhere near 1,000,000 houses being squatted. You should add the dollar sign, it reads as 1,000,000 houses stolen (a quantity) not $1,000,000 houses (a valuation of the homes being squatted in). Real problem, close to my financial decisions. Seems like it was a typo on the title, not click bait hyperbole which I thought it was.
@@hoojks sounds like we had a miscommunication. That was a typo on my part. I’ve included the dollar sign, thanks for catching that. Appreciate your support.
@@hoojks I found an article from 2010 claiming that there were currently 4.4 million squatters in the US. The article was written by Business Insider. Considering the rise in 'squatting' it is possible the numbers are higher now.
Why is it “squatting” and not criminal trespassing?

It literally makes no sense! They are enabling thieves and scammers
You don’t even know what communism means 😂

Def a creative idea, proceed with caution 😅
RUN RUN RUN , from Nasty New York! Worn out York!
I call New York City, the cesspool! 😡😡😡
LOLLL
Why did you not mention burglar alarms to protect against squatters? Wouldn’t that be better than cameras?
This is a great suggestion, thank you!
Squatters should bring their cot and sleeping bag and move into the politicians’ offices. I bet you would see some changes pretty fast in the laws.
Fair point!
Try that with my home! Someone will not make it!
😫😫
Yea right
You have to wait when the go out you brake the lock or change lock and when they come back you call the police i solved this way
Glad it worked out for you! What state/city was this in?

If you brave enough to take mine I'm brave enough to take yours this type of situation will really bring the demon out of you
🥹🥹🥹it’s wild out here
Why not put an alarm on the house that goes off upon entry. If it’s “their” property, then they would know the password, right?
Good idea!
Look up outside the box with flash
He'll help you get rid of your squatters

Own nothing and be happy, it seems like some folks want that to be the new American dream.
