I moved from one county to another in Tx., and my property taxes are absolutely outrageous! I am paying more in taxes on my small older home, than people with over million dollar properties! I was told by the appraisal district, that it's because the owners of the million dollar properties, bought their property before 2012, and I am a new resident! The taxes on my home, are Nothing but Legalized Theft!

Every time there is a conservative party in office, there is an economic disruption. The only way housing prices will come down and this is the way he plans to do this is going to be to crash the economy with tariffs and job losses which result in a foreclosure crises similar to Bush Jr. 2007 2008. This will allow the wealthy and corporations to buy inexpensive foreclosed homes with cheap money by forcing Powell to drop the rates to 0 again like he did during the pandemic when they should have been raised. This is why we are in this overly high priced housing situation now. This will also allow him and his family to buy up more real estate as there isn’t any cheap inventory for them to buy.

Another big expense nobody mentioned was the hvac system and ductwork. If you dont know how to install yourself you're looking at another 30k or so in equipment, material and labor. You have to install supply vents throughout the house and run ductwork back to the supply plenum and air handler. Its a big part of any home

They blame every problem this country have on immigrates which is crazy...and it's not true.. The housing crisis is because of venture capitalists.. They are buying houses in new developments and renting them out, which keeps people from becoming homeowners....That's a problem that politicians are not addressing. If they build a lot of new homes and that continues, people still won't be able to become home owners. Rather, it will just be more renters..Plus, housing cost has skyrocket. So they plan to build houses with no regulations like in Florida so you might end up dying in a home you purchase because something wasn't done according to standards like the electric..or they may use hazardous materials like drywall..that contain chemicals..Building homes on federal land that might contain hazardous materials..I don't see this solving the housing problem..I'm glad I already own my home..🤔

I’m honestly not sure if it can truly be fixed as it’s decades In the making. The days of having an affordable mortgage with an average job are over in high cost of living areas. Do you think this is an issue that can be fixed?

I am a Conservative Republican and Trump is not. I am 82 years old and have voted for a Republican President my entire life, but not this year. This year I did a write-in. As we found before, when you lower the Prime Rate, causing the mortgage rate to fall, the property price goes up. Why? Because people buy by their monthly expense. If the interest part goes down, the price goes up. This also caused trying to save to be a problem, because the money in the bank interest dropped to 0.01 percent. So, $100,000 in the bank was worth $1 per month. Trump caused money to have no value. Federal owned land is not where jobs are. Where I live in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, very large scale development is currently happening. Very large tracts of land are being developed into both single family and town homes. Other tracts of land are being covered with solar panels. I am a Republican and voted for Trump before because he was a business man. What I didn't know was he went bankrupt 6 times. I did not vote for him this time because he has no idea what he is doing. Instead of his book being called "The Art of the Deal", it should be called "The Art of the Con". If he accomplishes everything he wants to accomplish, we will be into World War 3. He needs stopped.

@@blackrealestatedialogue Even though this is West Virginia, it is part of the DC Metro area. Therefore, most people live here and commute to DC to work. I am retired, but I worked in DC and Baltimore. As far as DC, some people drive, but others take the train in to DC. It is less expensive here than closer in to DC and less crowded. I have two acres but all of the development is very small lots. I lived closer in to DC for a while but I hated it down there. Obviously, in traffic going to and from work, but not after getting home. With all of the building going on, that may change. I was planning to buy in Florida. But Florida is a disaster now. The entire state is for sale but they are trying to keep their prices up. Therefore, nothing is selling. So many people are giving up on the country and moving out of the country to all over the world. A lot are moving to Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, South America, Central America, and other places. A small percent are also giving away their US Citizenship and getting Passports from a number of other countries. Singapore has the best passport. Japan and a few other countries follow close behind. The US Passport has fallen in favor and is down on the list.
